thanks Lou, we were looking at the upiquiti and were 'guessing' that we could use one door access system to manage two doors. We have a series of bays that have a front entrance and then another door in the back. If you wire both the front and the back doors to the same control when you unlock the front door it is going to unluck the back door at the same time. SO as long as it is low risk to have the second door also unluck this would work well? See that the video was from last year, how has the installation gone at your facility?
I agree with your assessments as well. Things are well. I have now installed several of these doors systems. My biggest install is a 23 door system across 4 buildings on the same campus.

@@loufilla7202 Thanks for the reply. I noticed in the Ubiquiti Early Access store, they just came out with a wireless chime for the G4 doorbell. I wonder if they'll do the same for the Access Door Access System.
So unfortunately the pushbar is a exit only. You would need a low voltage pushbar system that can get pricey. The pushbar is used in conjunction with a strike plate which probably in Florida probably requires the strike plate to be tied into your fire alarm. I'm guessing here but I would check with local codes on that.
Hi Lou, I want to do something similar but I want to unlock specific locks with my access readers. Basically I have the same setup as you, 2 access readers, 2 door locks, 1 access hub. Is it possible to tell the system access reader #1 unlocks only lock #1, and access reader #2 unlocks only lock #2 with only 1 access hub? Thank you!
If I'm listening to this correctly you can use one hub to control a double door access entry. Meaning I can use one hub to control two magnets is that correct?
Yes but there are stipulations. 1. You will need to power one of the doors with your own 12v power supply. 2. When you access any door it will open that 2nd lock at the same time. This might not be beneficial on two outside doors as they will both unlock.
@@loufilla7202 in the video you’re showing one magnetic lock connected to the hub. Then you show the secondary magnetic lock connected to the hub as well. Are you going through a secondary device, then moving the secondary device wires to the hub? The set up that I’m trying to make work will be a interior hallway door that has two swinging doors. That’s why I’m needing both doors to have a magnetic lock connected to the hub.
You should be good then with an interior door. In my video I have 2 locks and just one is using the hub for power. The other has basically a 12v 1.5amp AC adapter powering it. I then plug the lock into the "dry" port of the UA-Hub.
Thanks for the video. Question - currently run unifi in my house and i have an old alarm system. I only use it for self monitoring and not to a service. Was thinking of switching to the unifi access but I have about 12 windows and 4 doors. The windows are your simple magnetic contacts. With my alarm system they each go into a zone to know if its opened or closed. I have not seen much about this mentioned but do you know if unifi works in this sort of way? would i be able to tell which window might be open with the simple contacts?
Hi. So in your situation you can design it in many ways. You probably would want to purchase 4 UA-Hubs. This would allow each door to be monitored by camera. You can then set your windows to use the same UA-Hub to lock and unlock your windows. The Unifi door access shows you when a door is open or closed. You can even wire an alarm or light to turn on if a door or window is open too long. Hope this helps.
@@loufilla7202 thanks, its given me some ideas. but if my understanding is correct i can only connect 1 door per hub? or is it because you can only wire one camera per hub? i do already have unifi camera's covering the doors - just looking to use the magentic strips with each door and be able to tell which door is open / closed. same with the windows, you would know which one is opened and closed? or because all the wires go into the same connection they are grouped together?
@@frankbear6354 yes and yes. One hub will cover multiple doors and/or windows but they will all open close when you use NFC device or PIN if u use a UA-PRO camera.
If u watch the video and pause when my camera is on the right hand side of the UA-HUB you can see the wiring. Lastly if you go to Ubiquiti's website and look at the UA-HUB in the store they have a downloadable PDF on wiring with and without a power supply. Just click on the link that says "Installation manual". Good luck!
Well to follow an "door open" schedule you would program the times you would like to schedule the door to be open in the system and then set it to that door. The request to enter is only used to release the strike for a moment so that someone can enter. Does that answer your question?
@@loufilla7202 i have an electric strike that is energized to unlock. It's fire safe because you can just turn the handle from the inside to exit. It does not want to be energized for hours at a time, so I'm interested in a request to enter, perhaps implemented as a motion sensor. But obviously, i want the system to ignore a request to enter at 3 in the morning.
Is it possible to do a panic button that will lock a door that is always open? I have a client with 2 doors and wants to lock the inner door incase of a threat (govt office)
Hi. Yes the system is equipped with a emergency lockdown and evacuate button inside the app. The only stipulation is that it does a lockdown and evacuate of all doors. Hope this helps
@@loufilla7202 I'm a little lost. For an commercial entrance/exit push door. I want to understand how to connect the access reader key outside to open the door with the 24v push door, Where I can connect the push door cable to? When reader detect a key and it open from the push door.
I understand now. So the pushbar 24v would obviously be connected to it's on power supply because the UA-HUB only does 12v. So you would connect your black and red wires into the "Dry" port on the UA-HUB. You have the option of NO (normally open) or NC (normally closed). You can determine what is best for your business. Hope this helps
Hi Lou, nice video! I am St. Louis too and building a new home and want to use Ubiquiti door and camera system. Could I pay you a consulting fee to help me design it properly? Thanks, Tom.
Tom. Yes for sure! Email me loufilla@gmail.com. We can exchange contact info there. I can also show you all the latest features that have come out since this video.
The UA-HUB plugs into a POE++ port on your POE++ switch or UDM-PRO SE. That then powers the hub. Then you plug your readers into the UA-HUB. The strikes are powered also by the UA-HUB. I have had 2 strikes and 2 readers on one UA-HUB at one time. As mentioned in my previous comments if you power two strikes on one UA-HUB it will open both doors when someone access only one of the doors. If you use them to open a outside and corresponding inside door it's a great option. I also use the additional readers to run to the front desk. Then they can open doors just by waving a hand if they want too. Hope this helps
Lets say now you install that camera on front door, and an attacker rocks up with a high voltage power supply, or a taser stun gun and zaps the camera? will it blow up the system crash the hub and kill the power to the magnetic locks. ? the camera has a cat5 cable, smash camera from wall, rip out cable and apply 33kvac between cat5 cable and ground? blowup the whole system including the expensive dream machine. They have movs? that will not stop this type of attack thou i bet?
That type of attack would only blow the one port on the UA-Hub with that overcharge. I found out the hard way.... So then if u also power your locks on a 24v and use the "dry" port on the UA-Hub then it would never overload your locks. So in the end u will need to replace the UA-Hub and the camera. Please also keep in mind the 2nd camera is powered by wifi on another power circuit so that would catch u in the act.
Hi Lou, I thought UniFi has developed this for office buildings only. Would you recommend this for home use as well. I currently have many UnFi devices running at home and considering this for home use. Thx.
Hi sorry for the late comment. That is a tough call. If low voltage and Ethernet cable install runs can work then yes. The world is always going to stay with low voltage and Ethernet so no matter what you choose you will be ahead of that curve. :)

Thank you!
No unfortunately not. Any strike that is hooked up will release or lock based on the readers on that UA-HUB. Sorry
I’m OK with both doors unlocking at the same time
You should be good then with an interior door.
So one question - both doors are opening if click a button or whatever or is there a way to decide which button opens what door? Thanks Robert
Wire the button to the magnet power of the one you want to release. it will just release it and also not create a cumbersome event in the process.
How did you wire up the power supply with the lock?
If u watch the video and pause when my camera is on the right hand side of the UA-HUB you can see the wiring. Lastly if you go to Ubiquiti's website and look at the UA-HUB in the store they have a downloadable PDF on wiring with and without a power supply. Just click on the link that says "Installation manual". Good luck!
So you know if the "request to enter" could follow a schedule?
Well to follow an "door open" schedule you would program the times you would like to schedule the door to be open in the system and then set it to that door. The request to enter is only used to release the strike for a moment so that someone can enter. Does that answer your question?
@@loufilla7202 i have an electric strike that is energized to unlock. It's fire safe because you can just turn the handle from the inside to exit. It does not want to be energized for hours at a time, so I'm interested in a request to enter, perhaps implemented as a motion sensor. But obviously, i want the system to ignore a request to enter at 3 in the morning.
So an access granted opens two (2) doors simultaneously?
It can yes. You can actually power as many doors as you want if you use your own power supplies. The system can only "power" one door.
@@loufilla7202 any way to add a button?
@@simcoe_it_solutions not that I have seen.
So can you have 2 doors run separately?
Yes but they will both open and close at the same time. Any other questions email me loufilla@gmail.com
Hey @Lou FIlla, I have question. For the push button. Does it open when you use the key? I didn't see that part.
Hi. No the push button is attached to the UA-HUB and when u press it releases the strike. No key is needed. Does that make sense?
@@loufilla7202 I'm a little lost. For an commercial entrance/exit push door. I want to understand how to connect the access reader key outside to open the door with the 24v push door, Where I can connect the push door cable to? When reader detect a key and it open from the push door.
I understand now. So the pushbar 24v would obviously be connected to it's on power supply because the UA-HUB only does 12v. So you would connect your black and red wires into the "Dry" port on the UA-HUB. You have the option of NO (normally open) or NC (normally closed). You can determine what is best for your business. Hope this helps
@@loufilla7202 thanks you.
Can you explain the different of NO and NC? What does it do?
@@RGam1ng NO means when power goes out the doors will remain open. NC is the opposite. The doors will close in case of power failure.
I can also show you all the latest features that have come out since this video.
say there are 2 doors one after another can I have it so there is a long enough time delay, allowing me to open the door
No. They use the same delay. In other words what you plug into one UA-Hub will treat all the doors the exact same.
Does anyone know how many hubs and locks the POE++ can power?
Hope this helps
one other big problem is most poe switches will not drive that hub
Then buy a $12 POE++ adapter from Ubiquiti. Problem solved.
Yo Lou!!! Give us an update!

Если если использовать электромеханический замок , и подключить коньку аварийной разблокировки двери( механическую) то это все просто выйдет из строя
Где у него выход на аварийно разблокировку ?
Hi. I merely showed a strike plate example with a pushbar exit. I have changed this installation to reflect a strike and a simple handle. This way in an emergency you would simply exit a building by turning the handle. If you want a further explanation please contact me.
Hello, thanks for the feedback, I figured everything out.
