Bill Shaw...one of the best tenors ever in southern Gospel music. The Blackwoods and Statesmen are the benchmarks of quartet singing. Thanks for posting. God bless!
Bill Shaw wrote "I'm Thankful". As a Type 1 Diabetic, Bill wasn't expected to have a long life yet he lived 94 years. Having known him and having had the opportunity to sing with him, Bill would always declare how Thankful To GOD he was for all GOD did in his life!! No one in Gospel Music ever sang "The Holy City" better than Bill. My considered opinion is that his vocal excellence is unsurpassed.
It's literally been decades since I've heard this record. What a blast of memories! ❤️ Thankyou for uploading this musical treasure. Seems like I remember when we got this record and I carried it tightly sitting between Mom and Dad in the '61 Chevy.
Man oh man, Wally Varner tearing up that piano, Cecil carrying the melody, Bill Shaw screaming his lungs out with James above him in falsetto then J.D. throwing in that ending note. It doesn’t get any better than that on “ what a morning”
@@danoreal1970 I've never been able to find music for that song, so I simply sang it acapella in Church one Sunday. The pastor's wife said they sang that as a chorus in when they were young, but was not aware there was a verse to it.
Thank you, THANK YOU! Steve Krampitz for adding these great Blackwood Brothers albums to UA-cam. Also excellent quality. In my view, just doesn't get any better than this.
@@SteveKrampitz Appreciate you. Trying to figure out to how upload the JD Sumner album I promised to UA-cam but it keeps giving us errors so I'll keep working on it

"NEVER" LISTEN TO THE CLARITY, ARTICULATION, TONALITY OF BILL SHAW ON EACH SONG, NONE BETTER THAN IN ANY GENERE OF MUSIC.
One of my most favorite songs from this album! Bill Shaw also was my MOST FAVORITE tenor!
Just love Bill Shaw singing I'm Thankful. And everything he does.
