I have a 2 in 1 with 2gb ram. almost totally unusable. the ram is always maxed out. the hard drive is maxed out as well since you have to enable this ram to ssd cache because 2gb is not enough and because this needs to be done by the cpu it is maxed out most of the time as well. if you use the internet normally, with a couple of tasks be prepared to get every site refreshed when you click on it.
Best reviewer I'd ever seen on youtube. This man is extremely detailed and knowledgeable! He is very impressive! Hands down! I am sold and I am on my way to get this Lenovo miix 320. It is exactly what I need! Thanks very much!
I just got this. I like the keyboard . It is better than what many other similar devices have. I like many basic entry level full size keyboards. Not great but get's the job done. The feeling of the keyboard is similar on this small device. Key's have less travel which feels slightly odd at first though. Compared to other convertibles I don't feel the keyboard is holding you back that much doing things. Exception number keys on top are a bit too small. Writing a novel on this would be fair enough. The hinge feel a bit wobbly but this is a detachable. I don't see any obvious failure point. touchpad feels run of the mill.
I had picked up the previous model of this, the 310, and it was so awful I had to return it - the ports felt so tight I felt like I was going to break the thing just plugging in or unplugging the charger. GNU/Linux support was awful (the EFI was hardcoded to load Windows, no matter what you specify) and even Windows ran sluggishly. What I had to do to even boot Linux in the first place was go through Windows 10: Start --> Settings --> Update and security --> Recovery --> Advanced Startup --> Restart Now --> Troubleshoot --> Advanced Options --> UEFI Firmware Settings --> Restart and that gets you to the UEFI settings which hopefully has the option to boot from an external drive. But with GNU/Linux installed and UEFI set to boot to it by default, it still was hardcoded to boot to Windows, to the point where I took my Linux bootloader and renamed it to the Windows bootloader's name and it booted it right up. This is a violation of the UEFI standard and felt lazy on Lenovo's part. I returned it and got an Asus of some sort, which doesn't have nearly as good a connector (gets separated way too easily) as this but pretty much everything else is much better.
Which model Asus? I was looking at this review and immediately googled whether linux would run on these Miix all-in-ones and it appears it doesn't (not fully, anyway) so it's a no-go for me. I'm looking for a cheap linux capabe light laptop (doesn't have to be a 2 in 1) with a nice screen. Was gonna go with a chromebook.
2GB RAM isn't enough on Windows 10. 32GB storage isn't enough for anything. It would have been nice if it was M.2 SSD and replaceable (upgradeable). If this was with 4GB and M.2 SSD I would buy it.
Thank you very much Lon for your extremely detailed review with this Lenovo Miix 320. It is a tremendous help with my decision making of purchasing this little device. At least, I know what to expect. Cheers! AZ
i brought this computer for $300 in my country. whoever plans to buy this , i can only recommnend if you just doing light browsing ( like watching youtube, reading news ) and just doing emails. the processor is abit slow but it still gets the job done. the keyboard is a little cramp and small and definitely not for long typing. battery life is just ok , about 6 hrs+ . but for its price point , definitely a good deal.
Went back and watched a video on the Lenovo Miix 320 and was frustrated that I didn't hear anything about the battery life. Duh! It finally occurred to me that you, thankfully, list the time codes for your videos so after smacking myself in the forehead a couple of times, I was able to find exactly what I was looking for! Chatty husband's don't help when one is trying to listen to a review I suppose! :). Just wanted to thank you for listening that information. Extremely helpful!
found one new for 130 bucks on amazon. wasn't sure if it was gonna be worth it. thanks for the detailed breakdown. (I bought it for a kid who needs something to study with)
I just bought this model with the 4GB option. I'm not crazy about the screen overall but it's terribly slow just doing basic tasks including web browsing. I really can't recommend this which is disappointing.
Totally agree with you, have one for over a year. But last month decided to install Linux Ubuntu on it, and I more then pleased, run almost smoothly, like 5 times faster then on windows. The only downside is the battery life, now around 4 hours screen time.
Thanks for the review Lon, this is something i would seriously think about getting since i've sold my big laptop due to building a new pc i still would like something smaller to take around with me and i need a basic tablet so this looks perfect.
will you show us the charger? let us know how heavy it is, how big/small it is and how long is the included cable. Will you be reviewing the Asus Transformer Mini T102HA? I'm considering cheap convertible laptops and this is one of them. Thank you for the great review.
Good to know about the linux part, I would be interested in doing that but may hold off buying until someone says it's possible. Thanks for the great review
Can I have my A/C adapter plug in at all times like most people do with a laptop when I'm using it or would you recommend me having the A/C adapter plug off?
Just got a miix 320-10ICR. It has 2GB / 64GB of memory, cannot be upgraded. My main complaint is that the largest micro sd card it will recognize is 64GB. If you put anything larger in it causes the computer to act weird. Screen res is 1280 x 800. It is reasonably fast, but the limit of 128GB total memory is a bummer. Lenovo support is terrible. They have told me that it should support a 256GB micro sd card, then later told me no that it would only support up to a 128, then finally that it will only support 64. In my experience 64 is the largest it will support. Battery life has been pretty good. Better deal is Acer One 10, similar performance but will support 128GB micro sd cards for more memory.
Great, great review! Only thing I missed is the speakers. How do they compare to other tablets? I assume since they are front-facing they'll do quite well.
After watching this review video and others, I decided to invest in the 4gb/128gb Miix 320 for use as a dedicated portable writing workstation -- running the low-system-resource-demand but state-of-the-art Scrivener software by Literature & Latte. For such a purpose: this device is ideal. Easy to carry, plenty of features for productivity, long battery life, and a device that you can actually have comfortably on your lap for a long time while you are traveling, unlike the average....uh......."laptop." Not to mention that this is a quality device for a surprisingly small amount of money. So, no.......I don't need to upgrade my aging iPad to run a portable version of Scrivener. The Windows version of Scrivener, loaded on this little netbook will do just fine. And for less expense. For one thing, this one comes with its own keyboard. Thanks for the video, even though it's almost a year old. It's still helpful.
Nice video. The only issue I have with these types of devices is the 32GB of storage for the OS. Storage is very cheap these days and I think that's really cheeky to give you just enough space for the OS and keeps on the edge when Microsoft pushes 3GB updates. This leaves you with very little room for applications. I think north of 64GB would be ideal and even 128 GB would fantastic.
Thanks for a good review , couple of quick questions a) can this be used to review photos ( not edit)I am into photography and I am looking for a lightweight travel companion which can help me review the photos I have taken in the day - so the photos should be displayed without too much ditrotion. b) you did mention that you were able to watch bluray movies without any major issues- so I presume the sound is quite clear when heard over a headphone and that it can play mp4 as well as mkv files ?
I was wondering how many web tabs can this atom chip handle at most? I usually must have about 10 tabs running at the same time plus 2-3 Word files. Is this chip adequate for that?
Only problem is you cant actually get the higher end versions of this device in the US yet, I've seen a couple reviews of the 4gb version from reviewers outside of the US but even Lenovo's website doesn't have the miix 320 listed as available (some retailers do have the 2gb version mind you). That said for what I want this device for the 2gb version will be fine, just annoying that I cant even get the 4gb version right now if I tried. Also would have been nice if it charged over the type c but for the money i can't complain.
I like! Pretty impressed! Does the tablet go on the keyboard in receive and lay back down on it? Wonder how it would compare to the ASUS Chromebook flip 10.1"? Awesome with the remix running on the HP x360! As for this one, no you can't reverse the tablet portion to get a display mode to it, only goes in the way you see it in the video. I think it's a good competitor to the Chromebook Flip 10.1" - it might actually be a little faster.
just realized I can't get the screen to rotate! Last night the keyboard still worked when screen was flipped, now it seams to turn off when flipped! Not all but it seams most things work!
Hi Lon, I recently discovered a way to boot from usb stick on Win10, how about using the Advanced startup option under Settings-Recovery and see if you have an option to boot from usb from there?
he Lon, how does this compare with the cheaper non-brands from China, like the jumper something you reviewed? Also, would you buy a Windows tablet/2in1 or a Android, purely for media consumption and browsing. The screen doesn't look bright enough for outside, is it?
Good review. Reminded me how thorough you are when trying to do the Linux booting at the end. Those little pinholes to get the boot menu / bios were so confused to begin with! Yet another reason to carry one of those sim tray pins on your keyring #nerdalert 8D
Does it boot into BIOS? Maybe you're able to change the boot priority to your flash drive. Another alternative, which I doubt you'll do since it's on loan, is install a different bootloader (such as Clover, which is mainly used for Hackintoshes) that allows you to boot to other drives.
Joe Bob look for an hp split X2. I've got a 2 year old model with an i3 500gb hdd and 4gb ram. been using it as a full tablet for 2 years and live it. 13.3 inches
have an Acer switch ,surface 3pro, and a Toshiba radius. My absolute favorite is the Acer which I'm using now it has 8gb ram and 256 gb ssd. It is better then the other. The screen is great as good as the surface, kick stand works fine and is fast .You can pick it up for about $650.00 on Amazon or eBay.
sharon cronin thanks for the recommendation! I really want a 14 in detachable without a stand deal but this aver switch at 12 inches is gonna be the closest I'm gonna get for the price I want
Hi Lon, another nice review. Question, are you going to have a look at the T-Bao Tbook X7 by any chance ? I have seen it on a few of the chinese gadget websites, its a $100 dollar laptop. I'm fascinated by it, I'd love to see a review of just how good it actually is.

Dawie Van Emmenes did you get it in the end? Only thing holding me back is the small screen size plus the keyboard. Would like to hear your opinion on it if youve bought it.
Great review, thanks! When we travel, we like to share photos with family. Could I download photos from a smartphone or camera via a USB cord, save them on the 'desktop', then move them to a USB stick?
ok, i need to know how you (and several others on uTube) gave this thing fairly good ratings, even really good or Best for it's price etc, and yet when I look on Amozon it oly gets like barely 2 stars, can you please update this point? thanx. June 24 2019
Hi Lon, I'm a college student and I need to purchase a budget laptop and I'm currently deciding between ASUS E200Ha and Lenovo Miix 320. I'm mostly going to be using the laptop to surf the web and write papers on Google Chrome or Microsoft Word. Could you suggest which one would be a better option? Thanks.
Update Linux: does not finish booting, but does goto ubuntu USB boot menu at least. Win10 USB says bios cant boot off USB. To try it anyway goto start menu and type reset this PC, then pick advanced startup. On reboot it will give options for USB DVD etc. Even on a DVD it says boot failed so kinda curious what one would do if you needed to reinstall windows. And yes i tried GPT scheme for UEFI, same result just, ubuntu freezes and win10 freezes at the win10 logo even after 10mins.
Got that power wise, but i got the next book flexx 11a which uses the same chip family and was able to boot Ubuntu 64bit (no touchpad drivers yet), and a windows 10 32bit install image without issue. So I have to believe is a lenovo design limitation efi wise
I like the long reviews , get more detail that way . I got the tablet thinking it was android.:( . I'm not a fan of windows 10 . I installed minecraft but it wouldn't do controls like a tablet but it did load . I was going to return it tomorrow till u reminded me of steam for the light games thanks. I believe I will give it another go . Great video review
I love this channel, you are actually the only person I know that regularly reviews modern low end hardware in detail.
Broccoli 어버이날을
Best reviewer. Not like many others who love to keep to the high end of the market.
I love inexpensive and useful stuff! Haven't found too much of it lately though.
THIS. I was just thinking that watching this video.

good god man! a full size right shift key. oddly and incredibly important to me.
James Rufer why would you need that?
wow, the value on this thing is insane! Lenovo has done it again
To enter the BIOS you need to press and hold the power and volume up at the same time while it is switched off.
Good to know about the linux part, I would be interested in doing that but may hold off buying until someone says it's possible. Thanks for the great review

I have the same Q 😭

I was able to get into the bios but it did not offer any USB boot options.

How fast is this thing? Atom + 2 gb of ram sounds pretty slow but idk...
I've used a 1280x800 convertible before, trust me you will want at least 1080p when using it in tablet form, low res is jarring at that screen size.
Great, great review! Only thing I missed is the speakers. How do they compare to other tablets? I assume since they are front-facing they'll do quite well.

this lenovo miix 320 vs HP pavillion X2.. which one will you recommend? I'm looking for one, doing office work.. your reply really will make my day..
Nice in-depth review, Lon.
Can you do a review of the Asus Transformer T102HA, which is another 2 in 1, and if possible, a comparison to this one?
I was wondering how many web tabs can this atom chip handle at most? I usually must have about 10 tabs running at the same time plus 2-3 Word files. Is this chip adequate for that?
I would look at the 4GB version and it also depends on what browser you're using. Edge handles that sort of thing better than Chrome.
Omg right from the man himself. Thank you very much. I really enjoy your videos. Subscribed :D
Only problem is you cant actually get the higher end versions of this device in the US yet, I've seen a couple reviews of the 4gb version from reviewers outside of the US but even Lenovo's website doesn't have the miix 320 listed as available (some retailers do have the 2gb version mind you). dumb question could this theoretically be installed with android or chrome OS?
I wanna ask if we can't access the boot page on this thing then how do we install windows using bootable USB drive if we want to?
Have u finally managed to install linux on it? Thinking of installing one. Thanks

HAS ANYONE TRY TO CODE ON THAT THING YET ??
greets from Germany and thx for the nice review...
i bought the tablet only version of this, but now i cant find the lenovo keyboard for it. Can i use other bluetooth kkeyboard for this miix 320?
Any chance of a review of the 2017 Acer Swift 1 114-31-P5CK ultra thin laptop? Seen at walmart for $329 and seems like a good deal for a ultrathin.
Lenovo just presented de D330, what do you think about it?
Hi Lon, I recently discovered a way to boot from usb stick on Win10, how about using the Advanced startup option under Settings-Recovery and see if you have an option to boot from usb from there?
Very good man. Best on UA-cam
Hopefully they do Miix 330 with Snapdragon 835 as "Always Connected PC" with 2 properly working Type-C ports.
I'm really happy with this review so I decided to buy one. 😀
Another excellent video - subscribed.
I like, but in my country would be expensive from $ 200, the lenovo miix 310 version costs $ 300 (Rp 3jt). and miix may be $ 350- $ 450.
can you please provide comparison between hp pavilion x2 and lenovo miix 320
he Lon, how does this compare with the cheaper non-brands from China, like the jumper something you reviewed? Also, would you buy a Windows tablet/2in1 or a Android, purely for media consumption and browsing. The screen doesn't look bright enough for outside, is it?
It's much better. The generic overseas brands are cheap but you get what you pay for.
POWER ADAPTER SPECS

bought the one with 4gb RAM as a gift to my 8 year old daughter and she's loves it..
Its compatible on active stylus pen?
Acer switch one vs lenovo mix 320 which one is better
Good review. Reminded me how thorough you are when trying to do the Linux booting at the end. Those little pinholes to get the boot menu / bios were so confused to begin with! Yet another reason to carry one of those sim tray pins on your keyring #nerdalert 8D
Yes and it looks like this one is missing that little pinholes!
Thanks for the thorough review. Is the RAM user upgradeable?
Not upgradeable
Lon.TV Thanks.

Got into the BIOS but has no options for boot drives.
If you use shift and restart at the login screen and then after restart UEFI firmware settings, you still dont see an option to boot from USB?
He's already able to get into the BIOS. The BIOS must not have a boot priority menu.
Can you confirm if this is compatible with Lenovo active pen please?
Totally blanking but are there detachables in the mid range price with bigger screen and better specs? Like 13/14 inch?
The only one I can think of is the surface book...looking for something around $500

Can this be used as a secondary monitor?
Hi Lon. Can you tell us where to find the higher specced versions? I've drawn a blank so far.
I don't think it's available just yet - I will be keeping an eye on Lenovo's website which is where it'll likely be available.
K. Cheers!
Hey Lon i love youre videos, What Apollo Lake Touchscreen Laptop is the best in youre opinion at the moment?
I haven't seen any Apollo Lake laptops with touchscreens yet! Know of any?
Is it worth getting this over the 310?

It’s because people set their expectations to high.

Thanks.
hello may i know which did you went for in the end and how was it?
can it run ADOBE products? I was planning to buy it for my graphic class..
Can somebody explain to if or how to acces the boot menu on this device?
Hey, any idea about the Linux compatibility of this tablet?
Can we use photoshop or light room in this ideapad!?
Did you use other studio lights/lightning?
New cameras
This looks great! Do you think the tablet would be able to link with a drawing stylus/pen?
There was some talk of pen support but I am not sure if the US version will get the pen. Any capacitive pen that's windows compatible should work.
MIIX 310 version has a Nano SIM Card slot. Does this upgraded model of MIIX 320 also has a NANO SIM Card slot which supports LTE ?
Only the fullHD screen version has LTE support.
Thanks a lot :-)
Can't seem to find the 4gb/1200p version for sale anywhere
I don't think it's available just yet.
Has anyone had a chance to test the 1200p screen version of the Miix 320? Does it work without problems?
Could u use a mouse for the USB port?
Is there Word program on this device?
Is there still not a way to put Linux on this device?
I like the long reviews , get more detail that way . I got the tablet thinking it was android.:( . I'm not a fan of windows 10 . I installed minecraft but it wouldn't do controls like a tablet but it did load . I was going to return it tomorrow till u reminded me of steam for the light games thanks. I believe I will give it another go . Great video review
Is it any good for video editing?
Is there any sim slot on this?
Very good review. Subscribing now. But I hope eventually you will change your background.
