"the flagship appears in the distance, guns blazing, until a second federation painted flagship comes out of hyperspace and destroys the rebel one,it then turns towards you, weapons charging, the heck is that?"
The Federation-painted flagship hails you. "Ah... If it isn't our 'hero' of the day. You have served the Federation well. Unfortunately for you, with the death of the Rebel Flagship your usefulness is at an end. You're no more than a loose end, and we can't have loose ends." As it turns out, the Federation themselves started the rebellion in an attempt to radicalize people against the idea that the Federation was becoming too strict in certain aspects. Now they've won, because of you dealing a crippling blow to their battleship and because of the Fed battleship's destructive salvo against it. But wait. You remember your oath to protect the Federation's law of the land, its constitution, not to protect the scumbags who have tried their entire lives to find loopholes in it. You work for the people, to carry out the will of the people who pay your salary, and protect their rights as Federal Citizens. It's your duty as a Federation officer to destroy these corrupt officials and put a stop to this madness. Starting with the crew of that battleship. "All crew to General Quarters!" your 1MC rings out. You aren't gonna let them get away with it... ... ... ... Finally, after a harsh, hour-long battle that leaves your ship even more battered and bruised than it was after defeating the Rebel flagship, with torn shell plating and leaks in your pressure hull, you pull off a killing shot with a single blast to the mortally wounded Federation Battleship's reactor core. It explodes in a violent flash of light, and following the dissipation of the expected radioactive flare, your sensors light up with a wall of energy signatures, completely surrounding you. The Federation ships' artillery beams suddenly spring to life... but they aren't targeting you. They're targeting each other. Your comms console pings. A hail, that you answer. The familiar aged face of Admiral Tully appears, and he speaks to you in the usual booming, authoritative voice. "Son, you have no idea what you've just done, but I'd like to thank you personally. The idiots in Congress thought they could get away with this little power grab. I wanted to fight them but the fear of facing that battleship kept my men toeing the line, as much as I assured them we could take it. With that battleship gone, the true rebellion can begin." You blink once, and then again, confused. Admiral Tully himself was a rebel all along? Reality really is stranger than fiction. Even Turzil's ship is fighting the corrupt Federation Navy, normally the Engi aren't the warlike type but this time they're charging in headlong like a bunch of Mantis. A nearby Rebel station which survived the fight offers to repair your ship free of charge, after all scrap is abundant in this sector due to the Rebel Fleet's destruction and the True Federation fleet absolutely shit-stomping the Corrupt Federation fleet. You shake hands with many rebels onboard the station, all of whom are understandably pissed that their leadership were actually corrupt Federation officials using a rebellion to try to seize even more harsh control of everything. Even though you may be responsible for killing their friends, for which which they will never forget and will never forgive, you have done them an equally notable service by exposing the lies of those they once followed and preventing any of their surviving friends from dying for. It makes them sick to their stomach to thank you, but they do. You respect their integrity. Mind thoroughly changed about rebels, you're now tasked to assist Tully and his fleet in establishing some 'term limits' for Federation politicians, one way or another.
The sound of firing your engines at full power towards the now AI controlled shell of a flagship to finish it off while your crew hauls off the last corpses of rebel soldiers out of the bridge.
Bro I keep looking at your channel like "oh, 63k subs seems about right for the quality of music" and then I noticed it's just 63!? Let me make that 64 :)
One last explosion marks *their* fate as the Flagship is torn apart.
2:40 always the best part
I'm waiting for the day 3D FTL comes into existence.
