Hey Cheesable, nice vid. I tried to answer the questions as they came before the hindsight of knowing what happens after. 1. I would have bought Bene Operative and Maker Keeper, with the expectation that Northern Watermaster would remain on the board for me to buy next turn. It would mean missing out on a rotation of free spice though, so your play might be better. 2. I would save my intrigues and just take second here, since second is pretty good. I like to have those combat intrigues to get the doubled rewards from worm fights. I would play one if a single intrigue would have won me the fight. 3. You either want to draw all remaining cards, or not at all. The combo for fremen bond is still in deck together. Elsewise you have access to spice refinery to generate some solari, which is important to do now since the first SM is going to be claimed soon (if not this turn) and you are about to get earlier into the turn order so you have opportunity to snag SM at reduced price soon too. Furthermore you have access to worm spot which allows double reward, and double bump is always pretty tempting second place reward is not too shabby either. 4. That deploy can only mean that Gurney feels like he has to keep you from second place to prevent you from chaining worms. It is pretty ballsy given that you still have an intrigue. He might also need his persuasion bump from at least three troops and maybe felt like he might aswell deploy all four then. Who knows? 5. I do notice the trend yes. You're playing a combat strategy, which means the spice can be utilized maximally. Likewise an influence game will maximally use free bumps and free spies. I guess what I'm trying to say is that the free rewards are great, but only if they actually give what your strategy needs for it's gameplan since they generally come with the downside of low persuasion. A SMF strategy is generally poor in this expansion though, so I guess you should aim for any of the other strategies anyway. Low persuasion sucks when there is a powerfull but expensive card in the row though. Thanks for the video!
the move I'd have done r2: signet on hall/arrakeen, place memory then double espionage to take overthrow. But your last comment I guess explaines why you didn't do that. Anyway, thanks to this game I'll start considering Jessica as a "cheap resource cards" leader. Thank you :)
Having all the (good) combat intrigues with r2 hooks is basically a guaranteed win without others having any good combat cards (I wouldn't consider Leadership a good combat card). I would've stayed 2nd in the basin combat just so you can get Deep Desert (and also keep 1 combat intrigue). Also another thing: when you went Deliver Supplies round 4 I would've used the discard 1 draw 1 simply because you had all your access cards that hand.
I would say either early flip + build fremen deck with water + many intrigues or make some (1 or 2) memories to buy a expensive card early (when you eventually flip) the proceed to get cards with water
Flexibility is key, I think if I could get a big flip into a smf late. I would have done it. Or a big flip into resources plus good buy early. I'd do it too
I could have tried assembly hall to get it. And I probably should. It is a gap in my game. I think with feyd drawing so many cards there, I'd figure he would get it
