that guitar tone is absolutely killer!
thanks just needs a little final adjustment.
Big old jumbo nickel frets and heavy strings are part of that, going through the groovy pickup and tube amp!
@@MatthewScottmusic yeah that p90 is in Rude Health! So these first Juniors had 250k Tone posts Mathew? Linear or Log please?
Yeah, no way I’d sell that thing. It’s sounds INCREDIBLE!!!
not even to JJN?
no. maybe he can borrow it 😂@@MatthewScottmusic
I couldn’t sell after that labor of love, even to JJN.
That guitar belongs to jjn and you know it deep in your heart it's meant for him
@@MatthewScottmusicBRO DO....NOT.....SELL.......IT!!!!!! Thats a 1 of 1. The sound is insane. That guitar followed you, nobody else. Its yours. Selling it would be a crime.
Genuinely one of the best tones ive heard.
I need me a junior man.
you need a junior!
Don't stop making these restoration videos.
The back stories are great and your playing at the end is the cherry on top.
Well done, Matthew!
One of the best sounding guitars I’ve heard in my life.
Calm down.
What a great ending! Like finding a starving and abused dog and nursing her back to health. She bears the scars of the past but responds to the love and care you've given her. Well done!
He should have painted that dog. Frets are different now.
That dog comparison is cute, but kinda jarring. You cant really return something Essential to the dog, say , a leg. No Problem getting a working knob or poti.
Inanimate object compared to a animal really no comparison
@@jasonwhitman94 Most people don't really care about animals. If they did they'd be vegan.
Animals are tasty though
I remember when you picked it up I thought "Poor little Gibson, dried out and forgotten in the barn", and thought that the elder abuse had made it a wall-hanger. Thank goodness you proved me wrong! Awesome job of "arresting the decay" and keeping the history of this great little axe for all of us to see. Love to see the stage shots, and hope you put a few songs in the set that will let her sing to the world again! Kudos, man, you rock the vintage world!
But, it's still "dried out". This repair did nothing to preserve the wood.
Alder abuse perhaps?
Absolutely, perfect you can't sell this one,, it's a fire breather and you saved its life , this is a once in lifetime guitar
Haven't commented here in a while but here it goes!
Hey matt, long time subscriber here. I just want to congratulate you for the success & journey you've been having through all these years. Still remember stumbling your first strat videos in my recommendations and ever since that day, everytime you upload some content, I always get chills hearing these raw and sincere takes of vintage guitar tones.
Loving the new record as well, hoping that you are doing well matt!
Thanks for inspiring lots of us to pick up the guitar and make great guitar tones. Your tone is one of the most sincere tones I ever heard here in this platform.
Never stop loving your love for art man.
Man thank you so much glad to have you here.
@@MatthewScottmusic will keep supporting you no matter what man, you always keep me being inspired to play music. Looking forward always for your new stuffs! ❤
I am so glad you taped the body around the neck. I was afraid you might damage the finish😂
Butts were clenched ... arguments ensued ... friendships lost, all over the tape, no tape, debate.😂
Some people are really worried about every flake that's left.
@@MatthewScottmusic I am just poking fun. The whole project is pretty incredible.
@@MatthewScottmusic contact Terry Kilgore (of DLR fame) he loves himself a bowl of paint chips ! Just need some 70 year old milk to help it go down!
This guitar has had a life journey. Glad it ended up in your hands. It has a voice that deserves to be heard.
That tone is the holy grail so many are searching for ... and your playing is also another holy grail ...
wow! that tone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The love of music is so well documented on this channel! Find it, fix it, jam it. Great playing, Matthew as always.
Painstaking work. Love watching you bring these old classics back to serve a new life. What they were meant to do.
Damn dude... what a special instrument you found.
grossartig!
Greetings from the sunny climes of Basle, Switzerland
I don’t care what guitar you’re playing or what amp you’re using, that tone you somehow magically pull out of your fingers is absolutely amazing!
My goodness. What. A. Sound. Man you are awesome and there is nothing better than that old p90 sound! Keep up the great work and playing my man! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
P90’s really are the perfect pickups.
@@aaronhiggs Perfect. You can get any sound you want out of them.
Omg that has to be the best junior I’ve ever heard… it’s happy to be a guitar again that for sure. That p-90 is raw and gritty
WHOA!!!!!! That thing sounds like FIRE!!!!! It's so DEEP and RESONANT!!! The sustain!!! The breakup!!! Wow!!!!!! Absolutely AMAZING!!! Do not ever replace that pickup!! You can't get that out of a modern P90! That is seriously the best-sounding Junior I've ever heard!
The sheer odds against this guitar ever being heard again are astronomical. But.....here we are and its soul never died.
That guitar SINGS. Amazing work. Don't ever let that guitar go. It has the mojo, the tones, and all the stories this world could offer.
Omg I love that guitar. That thing is literally one of the greatest guitars on the whole planet.
Definitely a keeper, that one sings country and plays rock n roll! Nice re-fret.
Matthew, sir, you are ONE BRAVE DUDE jumping into that refret on that beauty. Hats off to you my good man. And congrats on that album!!! 😎👍
Geez, that was some awesome playing Matthew. I was sitting here thinking that Duane was looking down with a big, sh*t eating smile on his face.
Sounds phenomenal. She's a keeper!!
This series of videos has caused me to commission a 50's style Junior build by my friend who's a luthier with a stash of old growth mahogany. I don't think I've ever heard a better sounding guitar. Absolutely amazing. And your playing is always killer. Thanks for the videos man
It is absolutely insane how good the LP Juniors sound with just a single pickup, one tone knob, and the volume knob.
the old adage "less is more" is true for a reason 😉
Bro that tone 💀💀💀 that’s fkn amazing!
The way you rescue em and revive em amazes me as much as your playing... here's to another cool video!
I have no idea how or why, but that thing sounds like absolute heaven! The resonance! On a completely wrecked junior? What the hell? Incredible. Makes me consider throwing my SG into a leaky barn for a few decades, if it'll come out sounding like that. I'd keep. It's been a labour of love!
I know you love Strats Matthew, but the tone on this Jr. and the 58' Special are the best!.
Incredible find! And a dream project guitar. The juniors with the P90's are the coolest.
This guitar is so unique in its look, the sound and the way that you‘ve got it. Every time you play it is somehow connecting to the listener. I would definitely keep it
Thanks for killing it Matt, you ground that out so well! That ax is deserving of your love and talent.
Is it just me or was that some serious Keef Richards tone bleeding out of that awesome LP, once heard I couldn't unhear. Even with Zepplin riff. Great find and wicked recovery of a vintage instrument, keep it up Matthew
Just binge-watched the whole series and really enjoyed the story of bringing this guitar back to life. Thanks for sharing.
This guitar sounds fantastic! The sound has so much texture, so much goodness in it. Love it and your work. Thanks for sharing!
Another outstanding story & addition to your killer collection of
saved historic player instruments, nice one Matt!
📀🎶📀🎵
That sound. Man, it’s heaven. Glad the cold girl found a loving home after years of neglect. You can’t sell her, she just too sweet🤘
I've been waiting for this! It sounds absolutely GORGEOUS! Well done.
guy i knew got a 54 paul that been in sunken boat for over 20 years--it had turned to driftwood gray and was restored, it was incredibly light and sounded amazing
Thanks for everything you put out into the world.
Feels like you always let it all out.
Hi Matt, before I discovered your content on this guitar I had never watched one of your videos, or even heard of you. That being said, your skill at restoring and playing is clear to see. I am not normally inclined to comment on videos but I think you need to read what I am about to write:
I am a strong believer that to unlock the true potential of any particular instrument like this, it needs to be in the hands of the right person. Having heard you play at the end of each video in this series it is clear... you are the person that should own this guitar and you must keep it and create music with it. I fear you will regret it (potentially for the rest of your life) if you let it go to anyone other than a complete icon.
Love that old plank of barn wood!
Well done on the refret .. not many would take that job on themselves let alone on a vintage instrument.. well done young fella, sounds fantastic and u can't sell that guitar lad, good luck from Belfast Northern Ireland.. 🎸🔊🎶👍
Such a gorgeous piece❤
Amazing playing. I've got SO FAR TO GO to get to your level. MY LORD. I'll die trying.
Wow! That was truly therapeutic to watch and hear! Almost sounded like a vintage acoustic guitar the first few seconds!
Wow! Sounds amazing. Nice job on the frets.
This guitar SCREAMS! Good find!
Awesome journey for this vintage find. And your playing of it is, of course, phenomenal! Cant wait to see it and you onstage again soon!
I can't help but think about the joy you've given back to that guitar.
Nice sustain on that junior. Top job Matthew 🎸
Old dried out wood is really resonant and that pickup sings out loud and proud such a great rescue from trash to treasure
i'm taking apart my guitar and putting it in the oven at 350* for 7 days. can't wait to get "THE TONE" ... 😁
Sounds fantastic. Whatever amp/pedal combo you are playing it through it really works. Great tone.
If he offers you the right price I'm sure it would be nice to see it on stage regularly.... then you can go restore another....!
Absolutely killer guitar. Like others have said no way in hell I’d sell it. Got your CD a few months ago and it’s been in the changer ever since. Love your style. 😊
She is a guitar full of character and sounds amazing some guitars are keepers and you need to keep her as letting her go is something you will look back on and regret as she sounds so good great videos
Thanks for showing all the steps in the repair process 🛠️. I can’t get enough. I had no idea about how some of those things were done. And as finished, it sounds phenomenal. I’m not really a Gibson fan but I do like an older Les Paul Junior. You knocked that out of the park. Thanks.
👍☮️🌞🎸🎵🩵
Wow! That's something to be proud of. No easy feat. Well done.
That thing sounds great. Nice find and great job bringing it back to life.
Sounds amazing 🤘🏻🤘🏻🎸🎸🤘🏻🤘🏻 You did an amazing job on this beautiful barn find!!!!
Damn, it sounds amazing. You did an incredible job on resurrecting it. Loved the series!!
That sounds epic. What an awesome instrument. Great fingers too of course!
Dude...when you look in the mirror....you see a sick ass vintage LPJR. Well done, sir!
The fact that guitar still intonates is not only a miracle, but a testament to the quality of its construction and, in no small part, the excellent craftsmanship that has gone into its refret and the cutting of the nut. Well done. Nice find and great restoration.
Edit: BTW, there's no one in Wichita, Kansas who can do a fret job worth a damn.
Fantastic job. Looks and sounds brilliant.
Nice. Covered all the songs with the alternate tuning. Bravo Mr. Scott! Love the new album. Lots of Spotify play in my commute.
Those old P90 Les Pauls and SG Jr's when the tubes just start to break up are the pinnacle of guitar tone as far as I'm concerned.
Been waiting for this.
Always sounding great, you remain an inspiration brother.
Fun watching you go through the process of bringing this beast back to life. Learning to re-fret and make a new nut for a guitar is something I've never tried so thanks for showing us that process. My 70th birthday is coming up this year, just like that guitar. I wonder if young people look at me and feel the same as when they see that guitar? In a ways, I hope they do.
Great tone, great resurrection of this fine guitar, great playing, great video.
Masterfully done, Matthew. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole video. Bravo!
Amazing guitar and excellent restoration job Matt. Sounds killer! Enjoy it brother. I enjoy the hell out of your videos. Cheers.
Been listening to this video over and over. Made me pick up my guitar after too much time in its case!
It sounds amazing, and it has a great backstory! That one is a keeper for sure.
Great Job for all the hard work!! Stunning tone
Wow it sounds much better! Great job you did on it. I enjoyed watching all the episodes about the guitar.
Imagine if you could bottle the mojo in that guitar and pour it on any other! So pleased you did just enough to get it playable and no more. It is stunning. I think it is a keeper too, you play it like it wants to be yours.
Beautiful. I absolutely love this❤!
That guitar is a keeper.
Dude, this was an amazing series! It’s a joy to hear you talk about your music and watch you make this guitar absolutely crank. I especially like your calm and easy demeanor. Good luck with all things, man.
Always a delight to see your dedication to your craft and this barn find is certainly a pinnacle.
Hope we get to see you do this for many years to come, be it new music (still rocking your record oj the stereo) or restorations such as this one.
Thanks for sharing all this with us.
What a great job you have done… loved this project….. 👍👍🎸
That sounds fantastic.
Great to see it come together! Sounds amazing!
what a treat it’s been to watch the restoration of this beauty. i happened to catch a recording of you and JJN playin Mississippi Queen, and that definitely showed the character of that guitar. great playing as always man!
What a unique guitar. Thanks for sharing the journey with us, it's been fascinating.
Phenomenal vintage tones! ❤
Another great save Matt! Looks and sounds awesome!
I love your restoration videos man❤❤❤
Love the playing. Cool 😎 restoration.
God I love the way that guitar looks and sounds.
Excellent
Well done. Sounds incredible
Best 10 minutes I've spent all day!
Back from the dead. Sounds great!
Wow what a great job, it looks & sounds amazing
