This song is originally by Turbo which is itself inspired by an Italian song . Ateez participated to a show where artists had to reinterpret the song. And the guy with Ateez is Jongkook. A member of Turbo
The original version of this song is like a 90s disco dancey thing, the fact that Eden-ary magicked it into a rock-metal opera is really incredible (although not surprising considering what they were able to do with Wave and Rhythm Ta) 🔥

This was a song by Turbo (which is based on an Italian song) that Ateez redid for the competition show Immortal Songs. Kim Jong Kook from Turbo was there on the show watching them and was impressed so he agreed to be in the video they did with it for Halloween.
I think you would really like the live performance of Ateez's "Win" because it is pirate themed, theatrical & hard hitting.
Can't we just agree that ATEEZ is the best Kpop band ever? They have EVERYTHING! Vocals, visuals, dance, performance... They play with different genres.. nailing it every time!. They are unlike any other Kpop band. Hongjoong is truly the captain and an absolute genius along with Eden & Edenary. They don't have one bad song.. every one is either a bop or a banger! I could listen to them over and over and never get tired. People need to stop sleeping on them! They're all beasts!!
The *ORIGINAL* "Black Cat Nero" was an Italian children's song released in *1969.* Then *Turbo* remade it in 1995, then *ATEEZ*

I always think of Hongjoong as a poet rapper because he's very introspective and thinks deeply. You can tell he's not thinking "how can I show off my rap skills" , but rather really tries to rap in a way that enhances the meaning he wants to deliver.

One of the most impressive things about this cover for me, weirdly, is the fact that ATEEZ kept a lot of the choreography the same as Turbo's (for instance, the entire chorus, to my memory, is the same), but not a single reactor I've watched has noticed it is "typical 90s choreo" because ATEEZ went so hard on it XD

The original is a song from Turbo. Ateez participated in the song-contest ‘immortal songs’ where artists cover and ‘immortal song’ - from a well respected elders in K-pop (mostly 1e gen or 2e generation K-pop)
Ateez won🥇which was really unexpected because mostly the young idol groups don’t win.
Jungkook was so impressed by them that they recorded 1 or 2 tracks with them and featured in the Halloween music video for black cat Nero ( the tall men they brought to life) The tracks are all on a mini album ‘summer season song’
And what need to be noted is that: Ateez went on immortal songs a few more times and won 3 times. They are the current recordholders being the fastest K-pop idolgroup to do so.🏆🏆🏆 (turbo’s episode, rain’s episode and psy’s episode they have won)

It was for a competition show called immortal songs and they had to cover turbo songs plus they put their own spin on it and made it a little more rock which I love. They won and their performance was really popular so they made this MV for it. I wasn't really a fan of the OG versions but I'm obsessed with Ateez's cover!

In the drop they used a brazilian funk called "Passinho do romano". It says "faz o passinho" that in the literal translation is " do the little step".

Btw, Ateez have another mv with this og singer called - Be My Lover. Its their collaboration for new song. KJK is a lagend singer who not a type to collab with any idol but he did with Ateez, tells alot. Ateez did cover another KJK song - White Love - for Ateez's seasons album.
If you have the time you should listen to the Turbo version to truly appreciate what they did with this song.

i think there is a live version of this before making the mv, it was on a show called immortal song where artists remix and rearrange old songs into amazing songs. this is originally a huge famous song of the 90 s Korean pop of a group named Turbo. they were the it boys of that era. the fact that ateez were able to resing it just hits double the soft spot for me. i love both ateez and turbo.

Loved that you reacted to this!!! The original performance on Immortal Songs is one of my favorites. I’ve watched it way too many times to count. The fact they took an original track, changed it and then performed it in front of the original group to that level is just amazing. Ateez is just beyond the K-pop genre. You should check it out.

The original song is black cat, in Italian it would be "GATTO NERO". Black equals NERO. "Volevo un gatto nero" is a more modern version in Italian for children. So black cat NERO is redundant, since Nero is not the cat's name.
You should watch the original live one. There’s something about the live version that was magical. Really captured an essence that can’t be recreated. This version is good also but the live one, it’s just special.

I feel like context is necessary before going into this video. It makes me so happy seeing you enjoying it to this extent seeing as you went into it completely blind and with zero references, since it's so random and unrelated to anything else they've ever dropped. As other has mentioned, it is a cover from an existing song from the 90's by Turbo, the dude coming out of the ground at the end is the main vocal of that group.
