I like to Flash freeze them dry and store in baggies. Then you can add whatever sauce you want when they are reheated. (Queso, chili, hot salsa, or enchilada sauce with cheese).
I love making burritos 🌯. They are one thing that I use my home canned ground beef for. I also make them with my chicken. A tip: Try flash freezing bebore putting them in the bags. They will be easier to handle and, if taken out of the bag to thaw, you wont lose any sauce or cheese. And I am Team Jim on the cheese 🧀 😀! Pam, you are a doll to make the burritos for Jim and I love how appreciative he is.
I do this with most things that I want kept to individual sizes. If you freeze them on a baking sheet it will create a flat bottom which helps make stacking neater too.
When I make Burritos I use taco seasoning when I make mine. I mix meat and beans together, put the cheese on. Freeze , then take out and bake for crunchy, microwave for soft. Yummy ❤
If you freeze them first, then put them in the bags, the cheese will not stick to the bags. The parchment paper should keep them from sticking together, while freezing, and should be easy to separate.
I look forward to your videos. I’m not a fan of burritos, but those look great. I’m going to try making these for my daughter. I turned 81 years old today and I feel very blessed.
I think this is a great idea! I think I’d try making a little parchment paper “sling” for each burrito to help remove them from the pan. You don’t need to remove the parchment paper until it’s reheated and ready to eat. Love how sweet you are to each other! Happy birthday, Pam!
No ,you dont look 80, not even close,if you dont feel it thats wonderful, we are only as old as we feel,Happy Birthday !!! Thank you for being such a good educator, and teaching us the science behind canning etc , and food safety. Those burritos are looking so good, just beautiful, they have to taste good.
I always make batches of beef & bean burritos & breakfast burritos whenever ingredients are on sale for the freezer. For breakfast burritos I fry up sausage, hashbrowns, scrambled eggs, peppers & onions separately then mix together as filling for burritos. I wrap each in parchment paper & load up gallon size freezer bags. Easy to go breakfast or sit down lunch adding salsa & avocado. Family can grab, micro & go as need be or I can pull as many as needed, throw into casserole dish, top with cheese bake in oven for a quick dinner❣️ So versatile for busy families.
I also make them like you do. when wrapped in parchment paper they can be defrosted and cooked in microwave or for a toasty one the toaster oven is the way to go.
Happy Birthday! Thanks for sharing your fun recipes. A tip for when working with plastic bags is to roll down the tops before filling. It holds it open better and keeps the ziploc threads clean.
Happy upcoming birthdays! Thank you both for being my morning coffee viewing, I have no family anymore and take a lot of comfort from Pam's lessons and humor.
This is what I do too. I wrap each one in microwavable wax paper and they heat from frozen in 2-3 min on 50% power. They fit nice in a gallon size bag in the freezer. Then I add cheese and salsa.
Rose, I will be 56 on 8/17, so when I tell you that you don't look any older than 60's, you can believe me. Bless your heart, it's your goodness that's kept you young at heart and in body ;) Still wish you had been my science or home ec teacher LOL
When freezing (especially in jars) I often cool the food down in the refrigerator before putting it in the freezer. I've found that I don't get as much expansion (or done) if I refrigerate first. 💖🌞🌵😷
❤🎉 Happy Birthday! May you be blessed with a day as beautiful as you are! And I agree you do not look eighty , you don't act 80, and we are so happy for all that you do for us! Have a blessed day.
Oh this is fantastic! My husband and I are much the same as you and Jim. He will be very pleased when I do this for him. Thank You so very much. I may make them but put sauce in a small plastic container and cheese in a snack size bag, put each in a foil pan or a large bag together with the cups. He can add a sauce and cheese, heat when he wants them. Very versatile recipe too!
To @user-sy7ck3In6o. Please, don’t criticize. I’ve followed this channel for years and I know that nutritious, homemade, and healthy meals are very important to Jim and Pam.
Happy early birthday Pam!! This is a great idea! I'm excited to take advantage of your book birthday sale. I just love your videos!!!! Thanks Pam and Jim!!
Good morning, wow, double yum! I have never made burritos so i will be definitely be checking out your website to get the recipe! Looks just so fantastic! Have a very salsa day!
He's usually right about things mmmm 🤣🤣 You can leave the parchment paper on. It works fine in the freezer and the burritos can just be liftet directly from the pan into the bag..
You are not 80 and I think you are such an inspiration to us all! This recipe looks wonderful, and I will definitely make it. I think I will put the burritos on a sheet pan with the parchment underneath. I do like the saucey-ness of the pyrex dish however the sheet pan will make it easier for me to process them into bags or I may try wrapping them in clear wrap then foil on the outside. This is a great technique and thank you for sharing.
Happy, happy 80th birthday 🎉 The plastic wrap ppl with yellow box ( I didn't know if I could say brand name on here ) now makes freezer wrap. It's plastic wrap to specifically freeze things in. Could use that and also put in bag to help from freezer burn.
Happy Birthday a few days early! 80 is the New 60!! This recipe looks fantastic, I will definitely make. Thank you for all you & Jim do, you guys brighten my day!❤🎂
If 80 is the new 60, then that makes me only 56! Happy Birthday Pam, you and Jim look like a couple of Love Birds. You have certainly made a great life for yourselves!
You look great and are so with it. You don’t seem to be old enough to be 80. This recipe sounds really good. I do a lot of freeze ahead things but usually it’s so I can grab something from freezer for my lunch when we do t have left overs. I would probably lay these out on the parchment paper on sheet pan, put in freezer, then vacuum seal after frozen or then put in zip lock bag. All the liquidy stuff stays in tach then. Love you channel!!
Happy Birthday Pam! 🎂 🎉 Thank you for sharing this recipe - it looks delicious! You all proclaiming your love for each other warms my heart. How blessed you both are to have found each other! ❤ ❤
Frozen burritos are my go to freezer meal! But I just freeze the burrito once I’ve rolled and assembled everything. Then when you take it out of the freezer is when you bake it and top it with whatever you wanna top it with.
Those look delicious! I make my burritos the same way, but I pan fry in a dry cast iron, then freeze. When I reheat I add the cheese, salsa, sour cream and gaucomole if I have it. I freeze all 8 burritos in a gallon bag together.
In the glass dishes I was talking about. In the video, you made lasagna roll ups.In those dishes,I put chili, leaving space for Jiffy mix. From freezer bake til hot,add Jiffy on top, with cheese between. Heat til done.
I love this idea and my girls will also love it, I may even freeze in ice cube trays more sauce because they like sauce and they could add an ice cube of sauce when warming them up. Another great idea brought to you by Pam and Jim. Love you two!
My husband and I are like you and Jim in that he loves burritos but I'm not a big fan. That is what he usually orders when we eat out at a Mexican food restaurant. These look so good that I am going to make them for nights when I might have leftovers I could eat and then I could just grab one of these from the freezer for him. Happy Birthday, Pam!
Happy Belated Birthday! You DO NOT LOOK 80! I have beeen following you and Jim for a few years and have enjoyed EVERY episode! I am not very "Techie" so my Daughter was able to print out your recipes! Thank you for your Extremely generous sharing of them. I am 77 so not far behind you. I am so thrilled to see people our age who are still canning, dehydrating and trying new methods of food preserving such as Freeze drying. God Bless you and Jim for sharing your many talents!
I'm thinking y'all might like enchilada pie. Much easier than making individual enchiladas. If you try it, the ONLY canned enchilada sauce I've found that tasted authentic, is Pace brand. And I've lately only found it in large bottles on Amazon. So we make our own sauce and freeze it. I could make a canning recipe, but I'm afraid that the lemon juice, vinegar, or citric acid would affect the flavor too much.
Happy Birthday! My daughter was born on August 1. I have always said she was the best birthday present I have ever received. My birthday is August 2. Happy birthday to us all!!!
Happy (early) Birthday! The recipe looks so delicious, and looks super easy to prepare for freezing. Actually, I'm quite surprised that you didn't have a scale handy to precisely weigh out the ingredients for each burrito, and then vacuum seal. Guess that's my prep style, but I digress. haha Hearing you two lovebirds makes my heart sing. ✌💙
I would place them on a tray and prefreeze them, then put them in vacuum seal bags. They'll keep better in the freezer. Happy birthday to you too. Mine was on July 5 I'm 76.
These are wonderful! That drizzle of enchilada sauce over the top really added a lot. I used the smaller tortillas and got 12 servings, perfectly portioned for us.
Happy Birthday! My mom used to make these. She would seal the flap with a little milk, and freeze them raw. We added black beans often too. So then when you wanted one you could pop it in the toaster oven for 40 min, then add your sauce & cheese. I like that yours are pre-cooked which should make it a quick lunch, thanks!
First off Mrs RoseRed I am not sure I would of guessed you for 70, 80 would of been out of the question. These burritos are going to taste great. I also like to make batches of dishes and freeze them into portions. Thank you for your video.
These look really good. I might have to make these. Happy early birthday Pam. BTW the level 1 organisation and freezer system has been a life saver for me lately so thank you for introducing me to that.
Pam, you're a sweetheart to Jim. I also make food for my hubby. He likes it, but I don't really care about it. Part of marriage. ❤❤❤ He also likes the big burritos. I watched when you found the 14-inch tortillas amazing.
Well I wanted to say happy 80th birthday and I hope if I make it to 80 I have your frame of mind physical abilities and positive outlook I have a twin sister we are 62 years old on the 1st of August again happy happy birthday and thank you for your videos we are canning like crazy here in Texas thanks to you
1st of all Happy 80th Birthday! 🎂 You look amazing & are my go to for learning new things in the kitchen! 🍳 My thought on this recipe tho, would be to fill each shell as you did, wrap in parchment & freeze together in 1 large zip bag. Then cook from frozen in the microwave (as the ones bought from the grocery store) adding cheese/ hot sauce etc. at that time. My reasons are of saving time, zip bags & most importantly, food safety while the full hot pan cools for 1 - 2 hours. Any advice would be most appreciated.
The way i do it I put the beans, meat, salsa, and cheese in.a skillet and heat it up to melt the cheese. Its a creamy mixture with great flavor. I add rice sometimes too. Then I fill my tortillas. Cool. Roll in paper towels or parchment put in baggies. Im not a fan of enchilada sauce. Top with cheese when i reheat. Then i dip in guacamole or salsa verde to eat. Jim sure liked it! 😊 Happy birthday in a few days Pam. Big hugs.🎉
Yummy!! Burritos, a weakness of mine. We plant jalapeños so add those to our Burritos & right before serving, we top with sour cream. These look delicious, yes!!
Happy Birthday 8/3 Pam! You look marvelous and give me hope I’m as good in 8 years as you. As a NP retired I believe your mental fitness is a key factor in keeping you feeling 60 not 80! You are so intelligent, witty, and have a loving husband in Jim❤ as well a woman of faith! All keys to longevity.
Great idea! I happen to be visiting my brother, and there is also 2 teenage boys with big appetites in the house, so this would be great to prep for them and pop into the freezer before I take off 😀
Here in Greeley, Colorado (where we have a large Hispanic population,) burritos are very popular in the many Mexican restaurants. We order them "topped and smothered". (Which means lettuce, cheese and salsa on top.) (Sometimes the burritos are so hot, the cheese on top melts and sometimes it doesn't) but they are still delicious, regardless. Then they "smother" the burrito with either a red chili sauce or a green chili sauce. (My favorite is the green. ) The "smothering" is so plentiful that you can scoop it from the perimeter of the plate onto every bite. So I think your burritos would be delicious hot out of the microwave "smothered and topped" in an homage to Greeley Colorado where I, (your number one fan) live! You show Jim that you love him in so many ways. (Besides his stomach) Happy, happy birthday!
Happy 80th birthday to someone who doesn't look or act like 80!!😊❤🎉 I continue to LOVE all your priceless videos. Thank you sooo very much for teaching this (eager to learn new things!) 67 yr old woman. My life path took me into hospital nursing, so learning new skills later in life. I'm grateful!!
Thanks for the very nice comments. I was married to a nurse for 13 1/2 years; taught nursing students psychology and sociology from the time I started teaching college in 1985 (and university classes by the early 2000s); and worked on a nursing Psych Unit for 3 1/2 years. Being a nurse is a fabulous profession and I have the greatest respect for nurses. Doctors make the Dx and operate, but is Nurses who keep people alive on the units. I have enjoyed watching roles/responsibilities of nurses increase over the past 45 years. It was great when nurses would tell me that they were going on for MSNs or Doctoral programs or Med School. Jim
I have a burrito recipe that I use for freezer meals. What I do differently is cook the ingredients all together then put into the tortilla and freeze. When I pull it out I will then add the sauce and cheese and microwave it or cook in the oven or air fryer, your choice. It seems redundant to cook it twice then freeze it to have to cook again when you pull it out. Just my opinion.
Just found your channel, missed your sale, but that said. My wedding anniversary is the 14th, my first daughter was born on the 14th, her first husband’s birthday was the 4th, and her third child is the 7th. My sister is the 27th, so August is a full month for us! Glad to have found your channel and will look forward to more sales!
When I make something like this, I bake them flat on a pan lined with parchment, seperated by how they'll be frozen. Then let them cool a bit before going to the freezer, still on the pan, for an hour or two. Once they're flash frozen, they're easy to store away properly. Baggie vs aluminum pan really depends on how Jim wants to reheat those. If he's going to use the oven, toaster oven, air fryer, etc then aluminum is perfect. If he'll use the microwave, then baggies are better.
That's nice that you are 'fond of Jim' and make the burritos for him, though you are not fond of them yourself. That's true love.

I second this suggestion!

If you freeze them first, then put them in the bags, the cheese will not stick to the bags. The parchment paper should keep them from sticking together, while freezing, and should be easy to separate.
Exactly what I do. Freeze on the baking sheet, then package up, label, and hurry back to freezer.
I look forward to your videos. I’m not a fan of burritos, but those look great. I’m going to try making these for my daughter. I turned 81 years old today and I feel very blessed.
@@willieboswell1682 Happy Birthday! 🥳

I was thinking, is 2 pieces of parchment.
That works great, I did it too.

Love the new intro music! Happy Early Birthday! When you said a big one, I thought maybe 70. Hard to believe you'll be 80! Lookin' good!😂
Happy upcoming birthdays! Thank you both for being my morning coffee viewing, I have no family anymore and take a lot of comfort from Pam's lessons and humor.
Yes me too
I make and wrap each of my burritos individually. I don’t put cheese and sauce until I reheat them. Much easy to grab and go!
Happy birthday 🎉!
Me too!
This is what I do too. I wrap each one in microwavable wax paper and they heat from frozen in 2-3 min on 50% power. They fit nice in a gallon size bag in the freezer. Then I add cheese and salsa.
"I'm a fan of you" is the sweetest thing you can say to a loved one 😊❤
Happy Birthday Pam. Thank you for the love you share with Jim and the great teaching you provide to us all. 🎂💌
Thank you, Pam

80 years old - Happy Birthday! You don't look it or act it. Congrats.
I hope the heck I look and function even half as well as you do when I'm 80! Happy Birthday 🎉
Happy birthday, Pam. I just wanted to mention that if you warm your tortillas, they become stretchy and are easier to roll.
When freezing (especially in jars) I often cool the food down in the refrigerator before putting it in the freezer. I've found that I don't get as much expansion (or done) if I refrigerate first. 💖🌞🌵😷

That was probably the sweetest ending to a video I have ever seen...the burritos looked good too.🥰

Happy early birthday Pam!! This is a great idea! I'm excited to take advantage of your book birthday sale. I just love your videos!!!! Thanks Pam and Jim!!
Happy Birthday to you, and your Grandson, and Heavenly Birthday to your Dad. Blessings, and I'm definitely going to make these.
I think I would have gotten larger foil pans at Dollar Tree and built them in the pans They look really good

Happy Birthday dear lady🌺🌺🌺and thank you for all that you do to make this world a better place
You could flash freeze them then put in bags to store in freezer.
I'm going to try this one to celebrate our new freezer. Thank you.
Wow, thank you! Jim

It also works well to freeze before baking and cook in air fryer from freezer and serve with sauce, cheese etc.😊
I *just* finished the last beef burrito in my freezer. So yummy. Frozen burritos are so handy.
Yes they are! Jim
Happy early birthday ❤ Thanks for all the great content

Wrapping in saran wrap first and then placing it in a plastic bag works great also.
Happy Birthday !! in a couple days. I enjoyed seeing Jim today, you both are awesome and I hope Jim enjoys his burritos made with love.🥰
Yes, Jim the parchment was a great tip
Yummy!! Burritos, a weakness of mine. We plant jalapeños so add those to our Burritos & right before serving, we top with sour cream. These look delicious, yes!!
I loved the look on Jim's face when you did the close-up of the burrito, "hey, bring back my burrito!"
Happy Birthday, Pam! You sure don't look 80! You look fantastic!
Happy birthday!!! You definitely don’t know 80. Enjoy your special birthday.
I would love to see you prepare one from frozen.
You could bake them individually in the little aluminum dishes and then freeze them in those
Thanks, Pam and Jim. Also, Happy birthday❤
Happy Birthday 8/3 Pam! You look marvelous and give me hope I’m as good in 8 years as you. As a NP retired I believe your mental fitness is a key factor in keeping you feeling 60 not 80! So I think your burritos would be delicious hot out of the microwave "smothered and topped" in an homage to Greeley Colorado where I, (your number one
fan) live!
You show Jim that you love him in so many ways. (Besides his stomach)
Happy, happy birthday!
I forgot to say that the lettuce is shredded.
The burritos you mentioned sound great. I especially like mine smothered with cheese and green sauce. Pam thanks you for your Birthday Wish. Jim
I love your blouse. Looks very flattering on you. Happy Birthday 🎉.
Jim
I'm going to make these for sure. It will be nice to have them in my freezer!
Happy Birthday, Pam! I hope that both your special day and the next year are filled with joy and blessings. You are a gift to all of us!
Great! Thanks for the video. I am running to get the ingredients now! Also, I LOVE SEEING THE TWO YOU ON VIDEOS. YOU 2 are so cute!
Congratulations 🎉 8/3 is my Mom’s birthday as well. I celebrate you both❤ 🎂
Tru adding a little bit of the sauce to the meat mixture and before you add it to the tortillas. A bit of chees inside will take them over the top.
I didn’t see the red spatula in your Amazon store. Can you drop a link for that?
Happy birthday Rose!!! You are my hero.
Happy Birthday 🎂 🎊🌹
Love the music for the intro!
I'd use a cookie sheet for these so they're laying flat and would be easier to package. Great video!
Happy belated birthday!!
Happy belated birthday, and many more!
This is a great idea... and you two are just so cute!! 💕💕💕💕
Thank you!! 😊 Jim
