I went here with my wife last August. As I drove along the unpaved roads of olives and grape farms, I found a small cathedral on top of the mountain.

You can’t beat Northern Portugal for food and wine, I’ve been all over Portugal but my husband is from the North and my God it’s the best food I’vd ever had. We had breakfast in six senses on our last trip and we’re definitely staying next time😉

Nothing like an home-cooked meal in Portugal. First time I have seen "açorda de alheira", it must be good. Down here, only the traditional açorda and the one with codfish, like you already tried before. It is a winter dish, good for those cold nights. And a way to reuse stale bread.

Que saudades tenho de Portugal... Fui alguns Dias in Sintra in September , but my home region is this, Douro Valley. My family owned some vineyard too, like a lot of families in the area.
It's so easy to just go for a francesinha... Happens to me every time I'm in Porto. I used to have it with Super Bock (the traditional way). However, nowadays I just have vinho verde with it.

I would say the next trip you should make is viseu. And beeing there you should visit Quinta de Lemos in a small village called Passos de Silgueiros.
You must definitely visit Covide, a small town just on the border of the Peneda-Gerês National Park, and share it around. Some say it's to die for.

These are totally different things. Douro is a man made landscape. The Gerês that is sold to people has an element of human construction but is much more of a natural area (for now before it's blown up for lithium so that eco fanatics can save the planet with their "friendly" electric cars).
@@gabkoost I live in the north and you are true, just gonna correct a small mistake there. The lithium sources aren't located in Gerês at all, but way more at south, where is Boticas county and Larouco/Alvão Mountains, where is the Tâmega Valley and Montalegre dam (which is located at east of Gerês).

@@rafael.vitoria Wrong. Concessions and prospection have been made borderin the Park Limits in the area of Fojo, Arcos de Valdevez. It's actually Serra do Soajo and borders the municipalities of Monção and Melgaço.
Also, Serra D'Arga is a major problem. There are many more engendered mountains than you think.
All of those place are the last mountains with some decent ecosystem and are in high demand for eco tourism as people have been learning to value those rare elements.
Plus, those mountains are of EXTREME cultural significance for millions of people. They literally are the root of Northern culture and have been inhabited since EVER. Those lands are the last bastion of rural life and have an extremely high potential for sustainable agriculture.
Evidently, they also are very rich in water sources and, in a country like ours, this is the most valuable asset of them all.
Sadly, those despicable BASTARDS in Lisbon are more interested in ending once and for all Portuguese ecosystems and transforming us definitely in a garbage can of chaotic development and intensive monocultures that only fools still appreciate.
All this to sustain a dying technology as lithium is a decades old tech with ZERO chances to be a long term profitable system.
Galamba is setting himself to be the murdered of our most precious assets. Knowing how i know the people who live on those highlands, i fear that he might be in real danger if he does keep pushing for this.
Those morons in the capital do not understand that many of the residents in these villages have small to no relation to the state. Their entire culture comes from Communitarianism and Emigration. The land is what defines them.
Seeing the state blow up those sites because retarded hipsters think Elon Musk is saving the world (he literally invented NOTHING) with his electric car (that already existed BEFORE petroleum engines) , will be seen by those populations as an act of terrorism and aggression.

I eat bochechas in Lisbon on a lot of restaurants it is not a North or South special food, is really all over Portugal, it is not "rare" to find like he was saying. It is my favourite Pork dish of all for sure, btw!
It is rare. Enter 30 restaurants in Lisbon and tell me how many have Bochechas in the menu. Because where i am from, i can guarantee you that from the last 20 restaurants i've been, ZERO had it.

I admire your beautiful life and just a bit jealous. My friend and I were in Portugal and Spain last year-fell in love with Porto but want to visit Aveiro and Tavira next time. I study Flamenco Dance and speak Spanish fairly well so living in Spain would make sense but Portugal seems like a more relaxed and less politically corrupt country. Any thoughts on living in Spain vs. Portugal?
Well, I know a little bit about Spain and about politics you are correct (currently, Spain has worst politicians than us) . But the most of the portuguese will tell you the opposite cause most of us think our politicians are always the worst🤣 and yes definitely more relaxed
