Do I have the right to refuse medical treatment?

I was once cursed out by a doctor because i didn't want treatment.
I had a run-in with nurses over my right to refuse treatment at a hospital. Prior to surgery a nurse told me I would be given a catheter, I stated my right to refuse and that resulted in a lengthy argument. Luckily, the surgeon heard about this and then sided with me, I was not forced to have the catheter. The nurses were infuriated and told me in the future my doctor would have no say over my getting a catheter and that if I ever find myself admitted that's exactly what will happen. So 'Health Friendly TV' how do I assert my right to refuse and know that I will be respected? It seems to me the key here Is that form they make you sign upon admittance, sign it and you give up all right to refuse treatment, don't sign it and you're not admitted. So much for "right to refuse". 'Health Friendly TV' what is your response?
Obviously. Your body, your choice.
Yeah, but it doesn't work out that way, state your right to refuse treatment in a hospital setting and you become the victim of institutional gang rape. The right to refuse sounds good in theory but in real life situations, you have no right to refuse.
Too bad more folks did not feel that way about face masks or vaccines!!
