A fun concert. They were playing with the raaga. I would say it was not divine but artists knew what were they doing they all were having fun. Few people commented that Ustad Zakir ji was tired or flute players were not at par with Ustad ji. It is not the case, they all were having fun it was not a deep grooved performance. And we are not the ones who can judge them on their technical skills because they know very well what they are trying to do we just can comment what we liked and what not.

Just saw an upload of Pandit Nikhil Banerjee with Ustad Zakir Hussain from 1985 (live performance of Raag Shyam Kedar). Very crude camera recording from the audience with '80s hand held camera technology. Worth a listen after seeing this video. Zakir Bhai looks happier in 1985!!! ;))

Zakir is much older and used to more complex ragas and instruments like the sarod and sitar. These are young 'uns who are the children of the fathers he has played with. If Vilayat Khan, Ali Akbar Khan, Amjad Ali Khan, the great masters of North Indian classical music have bowed to Zakir's prowess, then playing with these young flutists is simply not as challenging. They did not match up to him, not the other way round.
I had the fortune to experience this live. It was just purely magical!
Nice video. Some one commented that Zakir is beat tired, not that, it is a generation gap. Zakir has played with theirs fathers and Uncles.
