Thanks to everyone who watched this video. I put a lot of time and effort into this one, hence why I went a week without uploading. If you all enjoyed it enough I might consider making this into a regular series. Love you all 💙
Your argument is exactly how I feel about Anky. It should, and would absolutely be able to defend itself. I like the play style of the anky. Slow paced, and able to smash kneecaps if needed.
yeah its so slow it cant outrun any preds but IT SHUD BE ABLE TO DEFEND ITSELF FROM ALL THREATS INCLUDING APEXES in reality it lived at the same time and place as rex so it would be impossible for this 2 dinos never cross each others path disregrding their biomes

Ah yes because making a dinosaur with the power to literally fold a TRex with one hit and reflect a bullet in its armor a little less of the equivalent of an otter going up against a fucking orca would make it _not an anky anymore_
Acrocanthrosaurus: replaced Utahraptor as top predator and ruled so successfully that for 25 million years the only other known carnivore around was Deinonychus. Dawndi: Meh *_fuck that guy_*
Translation of "Anky is bad" Kos brats running around as rex are getting mad that they're getting broken legs and want more slow moving armorless dinos. They want a dino pacman where every other player is a white dot to nom and can't handle the idea of another animal being able to kill them. And since the devs listen to these lunatics, we get more rex reworks and the quality of other animals go down or are just removed.

Random Guy On The Internet. It was actually a Spinosaurid. The two are similar however there are differences that distinguish the two to not be classified as either the same species or a sub-species. I remember it being a highly debated topic before though.

I don't understand why out of all the sauropod taxa known to man you chose one of the smallest species ever discovered when other, larger genera would be perfectly viable (and more easily balanceable) options like Camarasaurus, Amargasaurus, Mamenchisaurus, Diplodocus, Shunosaurus, Cetiosaurus and many others. All that effort being put into this dwarf sauropod (magy) could be put into making the juvenile stages of larger species viable instead.
The thing that pisses me off the most about this “joke” is EVERY time EVERY time it is brought up the same excuse is used by Bryan in particular that the anky “can’t run or hide” and apparently if it can’t do one or the other it’s a bad animal....yes the anky can’t run or hide...it’s a herbivore made to fight...saying a tank can’t really drive that fast compared to planes or saying tanks aren’t as sneaky as ghilie suits doesn’t change that they are tanks...this “joke” is the unfunniest “joke” of 2020.
Yeah it's a fighting herbivore that can break bones in a single hit and has armor not even a rex can bite through. Except in the isle an anky is worse than a dibble when it should be on of the most apex herbivores, the equivalent of a hippo today which onky really backs down to elephants and fights with rhinos, instead they gave us a slow gazelle that has a mildly annoying at best defensive club. I get the isles not supposed to be realistic, obviously, but can they atleast turn down the bullshit instead of making more awful shit tiers that are barely playable.
Anky has never been a bad animal, and anky is one of the best adapted dinosaurs that has ever lived. Its tough armored shell is meant to make a tyrannosaurus run for its money and break its legs. The isle with its shitty combat makes the anky shitty because the only damn dino in the game with bone break is rex and ankies health pool is too low it has armor for a reason. In real life it would almost be impossible to take down an anky the isle just has the shittiest combat thats all they make a lot of dinosaurs look bad with it.
@@Afrologist it's really just a little too laggy and needs some more dino's right now. If they got those 2 taken care of it would be pretty solid. Then the only matter would be needing admins on servers for rules or something which that alone honestly isn't something that makes it unplayable imo.
@@colecampbell1906 Still too many bugs & a broken balancing/combat that makes the pricetag not worth it after legacy. I had over 60 hours in Legacy when "Evrima" dropped & ever since I've been hoping the Isle undergoes a 'No Man's Sky' Effect
Bryan: "We can't make anky good without making it not ankylosaurus" Dev Team: proceeds to make spino good by making it not spinosaurus and magyaro good by making it not magyarosaurus.
They very obviously don't care as much about herbivores as they do about carnivores. This has been a well-known fact since day 1. As an herbi lover, it hurts my soul, but it is what it is.
Dude you said all the things I been screaming about. About everyone and called them out. If they remodeled Anky and made it CORRECTLY made it walk better make it be able to Alt like turn alot better and smoothly and breaking legs or ankles. Ankys stood there grounds. And when he said not be able to defend itself well with giga rex and spino.... Lmfao so will every other med and below tier against apexes everything almost dies to a rex with 2-3 bites. They are just being lazy. I agree every thing. Herbivores seem to lack love as always from them.
It's funny because in every ecosystem there has to be double the amount of prey (food) in order for a healthy ecosystem, and yet ppl r wondering why they have to walk so far till they find food or when they see more carnivores and wonder where all the herbies at
Well, let's not forget the fact that one of the devs had to fight for Herbivores to be even playable. From what I've heard, only Carnivores were originally intended to be playable.
Anky should not only break legs but also break jaws, for the same amout of heal time as the break leg mechanic, causing the predator with the broken jaw to not long bite. eat or drink while the jaw is broken. The Anky would be the toughest Dino in the game. The anky could dodge and weave its front end with ease, presenting its hind end to foes over and over again. It would still be vulnerable to pack hunters of any stature depending on the numbers in the group.
also why not have a mechanic for the larger predators that they can flip the anky over to get past his back but it takes alot of stamina to do and would leave them open to be attacked by anky. It would make even the Apexes think twice about anky since the amount of stamina and the risk needed to take one would make them not want to fight it unless it is in dire need of food. Edit: I also agree with the ability to break the jaw of a creature and having it be useless, it would also play into the fact that predators would have to be able to work together to try and take one down. From what I know about Anky, that is the realistically only way to take down an anky and the thing is that they roamed in herds to apperently so that would be another factor to make the predators not want to take one.
Regarding magyarosaurus, if y'all didn't know: It's a comically small sauropod because of a phenomenon called "insular dwarfism", which is and was common for animals living on islands. Their main land counterparts were usually bigger due to different environments, predators, competition, food availability, etc. The largest predator magyaro had to worry about was the giant pterosaur Hatzegopteryx. So now imagine that little guy facing allosaurus, giganotosaurus, tyrannosaurus, etc. It's still a sauropod with sauropod anatomy, which doesn't really allow for any fast sprint. Which means unless the devs fictionalise certain aspects of it, it wouldn't survive in the isle's fictional environment. And that is what they are doing and have done with many of the animals already. This is why it makes no sense to argue against anky being changed and made viable.
@@eneskaradeniz4311 personally I don't think it's about him being lazy. It's all marketing. The devs put more effort into things they think most people want. And sadly, most people prefer apexes and carnivores in general...very few of us care about anky being gone. If it's a lot of work and it's not "worth it" then it's considered useless. Sad thing is, they could have been honest about it and just tell the truth. "It's a lot of effort and we have other priorities.", instead of making jokes about it. Plus as many others said, it's all because of their general preference for Rex and dinosaurs that remind of the JP design. So again.... marketing. Popular and "nostalgic" designs is what brings money. At the end of the day, that's the real priority.
@@pattit21 idk man, if Anky actually got fixed cus if im remembering right it can't sniff like Stego, I'd play it. Just takin a nice stroll through the forest and every once and awhile showing off that massive club to a potential danger and sizing up your opponent would be immensely fun. Hell, getting mobbed by Allos or Rexes or something would be some adrenaline pumpin shit that I'd love to experience
Kudos for recognizing varying perspectives on what constitutes a "fun playstyle." When I first started playing a couple months ago, I really vibed with the sucho, which is very much "swim around, avoid and evade apexes, eat ai (and occasionally a player that makes the mistake of underestimating you); but mostly, just laze about/ chill out on the beach." I love it. But, while looking online for tips I might have missed, I found soooo many people trashing it as "too boring, too situational, too slow, blah blah blah," as if the only thing this game is about = single combat with equally matched enemies. Obviously that is far from the truth. Anyway, I'm just saying I'd play the crap out of an anky if it were the one you described at the end of your video here. That's chill af
@@oliwolikqkrigkgieogovowowk1605 Absolutely! You need to stay near certain water sources that spawn ai frequently, or you'll be hungry a lot, but the sucho isn't nearly as hungry as apexes until its fully grown. Not bad for a dino that can bully anyone solo but apexes and allo packs.
i main para, and running is a little slower than a carno, yes, but they walk SO SLOW and the z walk is even SLOWER...but i like it...just needs a health buff or bleed resistance. i love my para~
I watched this after the "controversy". I honestly hadn't heard of you until I saw someone else mentioned it. Saw your apology video, then came here. I have to say, you did nothing wrong. This isn't a hit piece, this isn't targeted or malicious hate, this is just criticism and suggestions. Good ones at that. Your ideas would work in my opinion. I think the counter makes sense, an anky by itself could defend itself rather well 1v1, but if you gang up on it, even with just 2 dinos, it could be fatal as you go for the head. A dangerous risk vs reward situation. Plus it would be somewhat vulnerable on its underside, to smaller dinos nipping at its belly. So it's not 100% invulnerable, it has a great defense and a viable offense that is more about disabling than killing. I like that.
Amazing Video. I am really annoyed that Bryan and so many others defend magys viability, but anky is aparently terrible. Making magy faster than an allo is ok, but giving anky a slightly wider tail range and strength is not? It just doesn't make sense. I get that he doesn't like it because animating it with those stubby legs must be annoying, but that's no reason for such a dumb and flawed argumentation.
wait no making magy faster than allo is NOT ok...not only is that 2 tons of STRICTLY dino trying to run faster than a larger dino...but its a sauropod and they dont have the gait or leg strength to bear the weight of going fast enough...let alone out running an already larger and more powerful dinosaur
I mean, it isn't THAT unreasonable for Magy to be faster than allo. Let's take a look at the two modern animals that, physically anyway, would be fairly similar to Magy in physical capabilities, the Asian Elephant and the Giraffe. Asian Elephants weigh in general between 2 and 5 tonnes, pretty close to Magy, with Giraffes generally weighing about 1 tonne, for the sake of this thought we'll assume Magy was somewhere between these two. Asian Elephants are clocked in at around 15 mph with low stamina due to its weight, and Giraffes at 37mph, so let's assume Magy is somewhere in the middle, let's say it can go 22mph at full sprint, since we don't currently know how fast Magy could run when it lived. But we do know how fast Allosaurus was, now we don't have an exact number but Allo's top speed is theorized to be somewhere between 19 and 34mph, now most of this scale is in fact faster than Magy, but there is something I think everyone is ignoring. Most Prey is slower than most Predators, but prey still don't always get bodied, Giraffes have two major predators, lions who can go 50mph full sprint and Hyenas at 35, notice how Lions are significantly faster, similar to our Magy and Allo, but these two animals rarely race on even terms, Allosaurus has insane speed but can't maintain it same as a lion, Giraffes has a much lower speed but can hold that speed for longer, and not to mention it often gets a headstart, so I think it's safe to say that, between likely have a quite a bit more Stam, pretty comparable speed and the fact that being an herbivore tends to make a player more cautious and therefore more likely to notice a predator, that many can in fact outrun an allo and maybe even a Rex, situationally, and there's always here play which most herbivore players turn to even with more solitary species like Ankylosaurus and Triceratops
@@rexybobo19 Magy is much more similar to the elephant then the Giraffe with short, thick legs rather then long thin legs. Magy would at best be slightly faster then the elephant. Also Magy has no way to fight of an Allo while slow herbivores like Anky and Trike evolved to take on T. rex
@@Zed9659 What? You’re talking about Ark in an Isle discussion when Ark is a completely different genre of game? And why did you list “PoT” and “Path of Titans” as two separate things? Is there a second Dinosaur survival game with PoT initials? Plenty of Trexes? Plethora of Troodon? Pair of Tits? Are you just a weird PoT fanboy???
This guy knows what he's talking about, the devs like to tote that they have the best dino game. I even witness them say that the Isle is triple A which is laughable. It's no triple A game. It has no combat mechanics, no collision control, the basic of all play styles. You grow up till you hit max and you live till something kills you. It's not hard to recreate this sort of game at all. It's Easy, Easy to implement this animal into the game. And there is no reason why rex is the only dino currently that does bone break when we have the Anky and pachy with literal maces on their heads and tails. This will Never Ever make Any sense.
IKR, the isle first came to steam on dec 1st, 2015. Another Dino survival sim, Beasts of Bermuda, came to steam dec 21st, 2018 and has more variety in gameplay, mechanics and environmental systems. It might have more bugs currently than the isle but it isn’t unplayable and there just feels like there’s more substance to it atm. The isle isn’t anything special. Sure, maybe they helped make the genre more popular, but they aren’t the first to do it and they certainly aren’t the last. I don’t play the isle for months, sometimes years at a time because the game is so slow to change and update.
Pigeon Lord Beasts of Bermuda Is actually a very good game and I’m glad you brought it up, it gives attacking mechanics even for Aquatics. Very fun for people who know how to use them correctly.

Agree with you about the Anky & how it can be viable like the Devs even said once before. “Once the Recode is released all dinosaurs will be viable” & I hope which ever dev said it that will remain true.
I think I totally agree with the arguments you gave and those you cut off. The anky has the potential to defend itself against medium-sized carnivores but against apexes... well, as the game is fictionnal and as the apexes are way too strong compared to it, the anky can't do anything against apexes FOR NOW. I think the anky should have the chance to be upgraded and be capable of breaking the legs of big apexes. And also, have more health. As a rex, i think that 3 bites are enough to kill an anky and it sounds idiot because as you showed with the little explanation comic, the anky has a PERFECT defense body to just not let a rex get him to its vital points. But in the game well... a rex just had to run into the anky and bite 3 times anywhere and poof it's dead :/ Really good video and really good editing by the way !!! I would love to see other "The Isle Discussions"
There are too many dinos in the game that take almost as long, if not as long as an apex carnivore to grow, yet they don't have the strength to even stand a chance in an apex fight. Para, stego, anky--all of these dinos take a long ass time yet are still meals on wheels for anybody with 2 brain cells. I haven't been able to play The Isle much for 2 years now because of these issues. I've just been waiting for the big update at this point. Maybe things will be magically fixed, but somehow, knowing the history of this game, I doubt it.
"If we rework anky to make it viable, it wouldn't be anky anymore" This sentence alone resume everything I despise about the Isle's developpement team, and it's a sentence that comes from them. oh and by the way : "Ankylosaurus would be too small to defend itself against T-rex". Well, seems we got a problem with DINOSAUR GAME DEVELOPPERS not knowing shit about their own animals, because ankylosaurus lived ALONGSIDE T-Rex and it did just fine. So this argument is completely flawed from the start and just shows how ignorant he truly is
The legs are mostly accurate, in that they're correctly proportioned in correspondence to the arms (I.E they're both almost the same length) but it seems like both were enlarged for the new model. So far though, I actually like how it looks.
Anky:Biologically evolved for the sole purpose of shattering bones with it's club-like tail. Dondi:No bone break Rex:Oversized chicken with sharp teeth. Dondi:Haha leg go crunch
This sure is annoying when people say Anky is a "bad animal" even though Magyarosaurus(as you said) is literally in that spectrum. Oh, and just want to point out, Spinosaurus was legitimately a bipedal animal, it's wrists wouldn't be able to support its 9 ton body for long, so the recode Spino is pretty accurate, other than the legs which are ofc too long, P.S. I edited the photo and just shrank down its legs and tbh, it looks much more accurate. Great video BTW, I certainly enjoyed the whole thing and you just earned another subscriber.
I’m not even gonna lie, I know that quadrupedal spino is basically disproved at this point, I just put it in there because it sounded really good lmao Also because so many people were clamoring for quad spino to be in the game for... some reason...
@@TheOneTruePesky yeah, a bunch of people still believe in the fully quad Spino even though it was already disproven for long ago. Something I will share, The Dinosaur Collector Group I joined literally called me a "stupid lawyer" for giving tons of evidence proving Spino being a quadruped is very impractical. I left the group because it's probably the best for my sanity and they probably are happily back-stabbing me right now.
@@fartmgee the 7 ton Spino is estimated by Franoys, but even if it is "more accurate", other paleontologists are questioning this quite lightweight estimate for a 15 m. theropod, including the one who introduced Scotty mentioned Spinosaurus being 9 tons. I really dislike how dismissive the devs are in this game, they don't take anything that the community suggests and just call any ideas stupid. They have such a 'I'm smart, you're dumb' approach and it's wrong.
Not entirely... I know it kinda comes off that way, but the truth is the devs care about the isle community, and they do listen, even though it might not seem that way. It’s still their game, they don’t need to abide by everyone else’s wishes.
@@Trigger__Happy Also true In my opinion, the main issue being pursed here is that there is a fine line between doing what is best for you and your game, and completely ignoring common sense. If they want this game to be successful, LONG TERM, they can't take the lazy way out and act ignorantly on the obvious issues the current dino balancing has. While developers should never be indebted to the wants of communities, they need to keep in mind we're the ones funding this, and playing it. For every apex predator, there are 20 smaller carnivores, herbivores, etc. Not everyone has the same playing style. They fundamentally can't. I love this game. It has so much potential, and the devs do care about it. But if it's going to stay that way, they have to prove that. And right now that means admitting they're wrong. Anky can be a good animal with proper balancing. Anything can. That's all there is to it. (Honestly. Bryan is acting ridiculous. Throwing a fit like a bratty 2 year old because something is hard to animate? really, what do you think you're being paid for??)
@@clawcaps3224 Wouldn't it have been more honest of Bryan to just say he hates animating it, and leave it at that? Instead of going on a rant of how the anky can't be made "viable" without destroying the concept of the animal. The devs have said that they want dinos with unique game-play mechanics, being a slow defense focused dinosaur would be a unique element.
@@skywise8 exactly. I just wish devs these days had honesty instead of handling games irresponsibly and manipulating people, then going about it like all is right with the world. (I'm on Pesky's side here, I realize my comment might not sound like that.) If anky could be balanced the way everyone here has described it, then perfect. Unfortunately the devs have been giving basically nothing but hypocritical excuses while treating anky unfairly and it looks like a lot of people go along with them which is just ????? we should speak for ourselves and make decisions based on our own research, like Pesky and everyone else here. Again the anky situation by itself isn't the biggest deal in the world but it paints a bigger picture of the devs and it doesn't look good, which I hate. Don't mean to be ranty but, ugh. They're jeopardizing the future of the game right now by being jackass-y.
@@clawcaps3224 The biggest problem I see is the lack of proper communication from the devs to the community. As for people going along, I think some of them were doing it for the memes. "anky bad animal" kind of became a meme in the discord, but Bryan kind of ruined it with his rant on not being able to make anky "viable" in game. Of course there are people just blindly supporting the devs because they made that one dino game they like. I'm still hoping the devs will get their shit together and communicate with their players.
I have mad respect for people who have the patience to play slow dinosaurs. I just can't do it, personally, but the rest of you have some awesome dedication.
Honestly, i totally agree with that. I love when people actually make argument with actual facts. Isnt it the point of the interner,to bully differend-minded people with actual facts they cant fight against.
Has anyone sent this video to the Discord chat, because this is awesome! The devs don’t have a fucking clue about what they’re talking about saying Andy is bad
ok dont feel bad its you but ive seen too many people call anky slow...and with the devs claiming realism anky should more than definitely be faster than steg cuz steg just couldnt run whereas anky had the ability to move with surprising speed...and magy could be viable...it would be slow...have a large health pool...do minor damage...but in enough numbers...like a safety in numbers deal...magy could work...hell if it had momentum...even irl...it could run into the legs of any of the apexs and bring them down...throwing their centre of gravity off and a fall could kill them
Epic Argument, I wish a dev could see this and at least think about adding some positive changes to Anky. Imagine you could do the new turn and use the momentum to bone break or something like that.
For every "garbage" class, build, type, species, or faction, there are people out there who can wreck your day playing as it. Consider that before running your mouth.
J.A.P yeah if someone is amazing as cera and they attack someone who is crap as allo then yeah sure the cera would win but if we were all the same skill level (which I understand we aren’t) then the poor classes would be outstandingly obvious
Communist chameleon it mostly depends on if they either ambush the allo or hit and run but i doubt it would be as effective for the allo to just chase the cera down
I never played as Anky in survival but i would love to try it after recode, chilling is my kind of gameplay (currently Sucho main :D) And i think you made excellent arguments and i agree with all of them.
They're not giving Pesky CC status cause they can't take constructive criticism and takes anything that isn't out right licking their boots as an attack on their skills. Dondi wants to be a 'AAA developer' so much but hardly either of them has the mentality to be one. Your non CC status is a now a badge. You stood your ground against childish devs.
Great points, it’s stupid saying a unrealistic more buffed up anky can’t fight off a rex.I loved the video you not only bring up the hypocrisy of some devs and you also said how to fix them.
The Isle now: nice stable community with good people. The Isle without anky: idk what happened but everything is gone there is nothing All jokes aside anky is fine not good not bad but fine.
taking a look at the Anky's appearance, they were meant to be walking tanks, heavily armored (even their eyelids for some were armored!) and slow moving, but with very good defense. honestly, a lot of the dinos seem to have good and bad points. the Anky needs to be better balanced, as in, they should have very high health because of their armor, they technically should be able to crouch down and attack, which they probably would have done in real life against predators to protect their underbelly. they should be able to break bones
Studies into its legs and centre of mass show that it would have been able to have a fairly quick trot as well. There is no excuse for Anky being bad other than the dev team.
Anky is one of my all time favorite dinos because it was never fast, or the largest but it was still able to tell anything that thought it was an easy meal to fuck off. If they did it right its playstyle would be fun for alot of people including me when im not in the mood to have to run around and do alot.
Revisiting this video, honestly...the saichania in Beasts of Bermuda has seriously solved this whole problem. The armor ability, the bone shattering injury from the tail attack give rexes and acros a serious run for their money. Get them large enough and have the right skill tree (which is something the isle desperately needs) and the saichania becomes an impenetrable fortress of power.
T H I S 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼😭 this video was my EXACT thought process, Bryan was lowkey just regurgitating the shit he’s heard Don say. They’re talking like they green lit the removal of all anky’s niches already and it’s just like....why are you making things intentionally difficult?
Opossums: Can’t outrun or fight off most of its enemies Also opossums: Play dead and somehow that worked and allowed them to outlive the dinosaurs and still be a successful species to this day Welp I guess that makes them stupid then
Anky is my second favorite dinosaur to play as, even without leg break. Me and my anky gang have been able to kill rexes so I don't understand all the hate ;-;. The Ankylosaurus can kill anything easily, except they can't solo a Rex, Giga, or Spino.
If they went with a bit of realism it'd go down like this: T-Rex 1: *sees group of Ankys* T-Rex 2: Don't ya fucking dare... Ankys: *sees T-rexes, moves into a defensive formation* T-Rex 1: Nope. Not worth it.
I soloed a full grown giga and spino. People think running straight in is a good idea but all I have to do is side to the side and swing the tail a few times and their dead...
If you made more of these videos, that'd be pretty awesome. This is one of the better isle videos I've seen lately. The quips at Don from time to time don't have to be in, but, it's not like it's something to care for and doesn't take away from the main video, just make sure your videos aren't a way to push an agenda and they're gold .
It's interesting that some of the devs say that an animal shouldn't be playable because it's slow, even though a lot of people of play those slow animals. 🙄
Magy and Stego were even slower than ankylosaurus but their supposedly a lot better(I'm not hating on Stego, it's one of my favorite dinosaurs, I'm also hating on magy.
That wouldn’t make sense cause ankh is know for it’s devastating attacks so high damage and high health for way less speed and Stam would be more realistic
As much as it pains me to say it your right about magy, even though I would love to play as it and enjoy it I probably wouldn't because my life would be in constant danger, I do wish they have some way of saving magy but I don't know if they can.
I feel the same way. I love slow, hard-hitting animals, but considering the history of this game, Magy is just going to be another meal on wheels to apexes. If you aren't fast, do a shitton of damage/bleed, or have bonebreak (and even that is situational), you are as good as dead. And that would be fine if there were, say, huge herds to find safety in. But there aren't. And that makes me fear for Magy very much.
If all the dinosaurs in the game had realistic mechanics and models, instead of being improved to be more interesting and inspired by movies, anky would be one of the most well protected herbivores from the island👍🏻
I came here to watch this video a second time since I found out that Pesky was purposefully "not included" in the content creator early access to EVRIMA because of this video. Dondi is a little cry baby who cant take even the slightest of criticism. Dont get me wrong I do like Dondi he is a good guy, but when he pulls stunts like this it just reminds me how much of a man child he actually is.
what are you talking about? dondi is a horrible person, he cheated on his girlfriend then fired one of the lead devs when they unknowingly gave it away. this isn't a rare occurrence this is just how dondi acts.
I heard about this game recently and was excited to look into it and hopefully play it. I was specifically looking to see if Ankylosaurus was playable because it's always been my favorite dinosaur but learning about how toxic the devs and the community is and how much they hate on my favorite dinosaur for no good reason, fuck that I'm not even touching this game. It's a real shame too because it looked good and there aren't any other dinosaur games like it.
Ik this was 2 years ago but this comment is very based, I'd recommend Path of Titans if you don't play it already, the playerbase is still a little shitty at times but their playable Ankylosaur is a lot better
The video is really nice you pretty much defended your point perfectly. And I know it's not something the Isle community will admit easily but if you look at Beast of Bermuda, their saichania (an other ankylosaurid) it is godamn viable while being slow as hell (and the gameplay can be very very fun if you know how to defend yourself).
Maybe because to make anky work you'd need to put...you know..EFFORT into something like an armor mechanic so we'd rather have Maia2.0 as Tenonto because that's easier....
Honestly, even if it didn't receive ANY of the tanking buffs that make sense, as long as it got bone break, anky would be arguably the best herbivore! I agree with all that you said. The anky should have some sort of armor for damage reduction, an actual RESISTANCE to bleed, and the center piece of the animal's entire defensive strategy- the ability to shatter the bones of large predators and make an escape from whatever was brave enough to test the tank!
Thanks to everyone who watched this video. I put a lot of time and effort into this one, hence why I went a week without uploading. If you all enjoyed it enough I might consider making this into a regular series. Love you all 💙

And that's really all it boils down to. Shitty combat. The Isle's always had it. I don't know if EVIRMA will be able to even fix it.

The anky is bad because the devs made it bad in the game. It's not a bad animal and they need to do a rework, I agree.
"Speak softly and carry a big stick" Theodore Roosevelt. Who I'm sure would have been an Anky player.
"I have been bit by a rex, but it'll take more than that to kill a bull anky."
All of this because... It was hard to animate short legged big torsod animal for bryan.
All that wrapped up in the word “lazy”...

When I first started playing a couple months ago, I really vibed with the sucho, which is very much "swim around, avoid and evade apexes, eat ai (and occasionally a player that makes the mistake of underestimating you); but mostly, just laze about/ chill out on the beach." I love it. But, while looking online for tips I might have missed, I found soooo many people trashing it as "too boring, too situational, too slow, blah blah blah," as if the only thing this game is about = single combat with equally matched enemies. Obviously that is far from the truth.

What happened?
But Andy is pack
Amazing Video. I am really annoyed that Bryan and so many others defend magys viability, but anky is aparently terrible. Making magy faster than an allo is ok, but giving anky a slightly wider tail range and strength is not? It just doesn't make sense. I get that he doesn't like it because animating it with those stubby legs must be annoying, but that's no reason for such a dumb and flawed argumentation.
I can tell you animating anky is tricky. Still isn't an excuse for Bryan's constant bashing of anky and ignorance.
wait no making magy faster than allo is NOT ok...not only is that 2 tons of STRICTLY dino trying to run faster than a larger dino...but its a sauropod and they dont have the gait or leg strength to bear the weight of going fast enough...let alone out running an already larger and more powerful dinosaur
@Voinescu vlad But it is also not bigger then an Allo
Also Magy has no way to fight of an Allo while slow herbivores like Anky and Trike evolved to take on T. rex

But in the game well... a rex just had to run into the anky and bite 3 times anywhere and poof it's dead :/

This sentence alone resume everything I despise about the Isle's developpement team, and it's a sentence that comes from them.
oh and by the way : "Ankylosaurus would be too small to defend itself against T-rex". Well, seems we got a problem with DINOSAUR GAME DEVELOPPERS not knowing shit about their own animals, because ankylosaurus lived ALONGSIDE T-Rex and it did just fine. So this argument is completely flawed from the start and just shows how ignorant he truly is
I hate that you mentioned the spino quadruped model, since we actually disproved that a couple years back. But everything else is pretty on point.
The legs are mostly accurate, in that they're correctly proportioned in correspondence to the arms (I.E they're both almost the same length) but it seems like both were enlarged for the new model. So far though, I actually like how it looks.
@@Locksoli Have you seen the new discoveries about spino that makes it look like a tadpole dino?
@@Locksoli Well, hate to say. Quadrapedal spino might be more accurate.
@@fluffy3640 Not exactly, they still didn't have the wrist bones to support it. But the new tail is sweet, it makes the thing a croco-pelican-newt.
@@Locksoli And good luck having that added on to The Isle. Also, Microraptor when?
Anky:Biologically evolved for the sole purpose of shattering bones with it's club-like tail.
Dondi:No bone break
Rex:Oversized chicken with sharp teeth.
I’m not even gonna lie, I know that quadrupedal spino is basically disproved at this point, I just put it in there because it sounded really good lmao
Also because so many people were clamoring for quad spino to be in the game for... some reason...
Weight Estimates for Spinosaurus is literally all over the place and I like how people think that Franoys is like a deciding lawyer in a courtyard =/
I mean spino now has a tadpole tail so spino will never get a brake
Drake Petty BOY DO I HAVE NEWS FOR YOU~!
Magyarosaurus is literally the Mesozoic equivalent to a Dodo bird.
@@Trigger__Happy Also true
In my opinion, the main issue being pursed here is that there is a fine line between doing what is best for you and your game, and completely ignoring common sense.
Bryan doesn’t like Anky because it will fill a better role of being a slow tank than the actual sauropod they’re putting in the game
ok dont feel bad its you but ive seen too many people call anky slow...and with the devs claiming realism anky should more than definitely be faster than steg cuz steg just couldnt run whereas anky had the ability to move with surprising speed...and magy could be viable...it would be slow...have a large health pool...do minor damage...but in enough numbers...like a safety in numbers deal...magy could work...hell if it had momentum...even irl...it could run into the legs of any of the apexs and bring them down...throwing their centre of gravity off and a fall could kill them
Harry Waser you’ve just described a shitty Maia

Harry Waser why... alll...the...full stops...in between...your...words...
had no idea this video was about a game when i clicked on it i just thought things where heating up in the paleontology community
Epic Argument, I wish a dev could see this and at least think about adding some positive changes to Anky. Imagine you could do the new turn and use the momentum to bone break or something like that.
Or maybe not...
Isle devs forgot how anky *use* to be in the old game... VIABLE
Thank you for this public service announcement, was severely needed and greatly appreciated :)
Watching this three years later, It also being one of the most infamous videos on the isles community, Banger video
For every "garbage" class, build, type, species, or faction, there are people out there who can wreck your day playing as it. Consider that before running your mouth.
Who are you referring to? Also no, no you can’t a cerato won’t kill an allo in the new evrima will it? No because it isnt meant to be able to
Communist chameleon while this is true it doesnt mean it wouldnt be possible tho
J.A.P yeah if someone is amazing as cera and they attack someone who is crap as allo then yeah sure the cera would win but if we were all the same skill level (which I understand we aren’t) then the poor classes would be outstandingly obvious
Communist chameleon it mostly depends on if they either ambush the allo or hit and run but i doubt it would be as effective for the allo to just chase the cera down
The day I see a para wreck an adult rex is the day I believe you.
Anky is cute. Look at that dude waggin his lil tail. Waggle waggle waggle.
I have no fucking clue what the isle is or why the fuck this was in my recommend but I’m here now
The Isle now: nice stable community with good people.
The Isle without anky: idk what happened but everything is gone there is nothing
All jokes aside anky is fine not good not bad but fine.
taking a look at the Anky's appearance, they were meant to be walking tanks, heavily armored (even their eyelids for some were armored!) and slow moving, but with very good defense. honestly, a lot of the dinos seem to have good and bad points. the Anky needs to be better balanced, as in, they should have very high health because of their armor, they technically should be able to crouch down and attack, which they probably would have done in real life against predators to protect their underbelly. they should be able to break bones

Anky is my second favorite dinosaur to play as, even without leg break. Me and my anky gang have been able to kill rexes so I don't understand all the hate ;-;. The Ankylosaurus can kill anything easily, except they can't solo a Rex, Giga, or Spino.
If they went with a bit of realism it'd go down like this:
T-Rex 1: *sees group of Ankys*
T-Rex 2: Don't ya fucking dare...
Ankys: *sees T-rexes, moves into a defensive formation*
T-Rex 1: Nope. Not worth it.
Bryan was using a version from 1970, recent studes in 2017 showed us that he was much bigger. He could easily fight any apex.
I soloed a full grown giga and spino. People think running straight in is a good idea but all I have to do is side to the side and swing the tail a few times and their dead...

give anky bone break and more hp, lower its damage and just make it tankier overall?

If all the dinosaurs in the game had realistic mechanics and models, instead of being improved to be more interesting and inspired by movies, anky would be one of the most well protected herbivores from the island👍🏻

what are you talking about? dondi is a horrible person, he cheated on his girlfriend then fired one of the lead devs when they unknowingly gave it away. this isn't a rare occurrence this is just how dondi acts.
i love how the devs make these arguments against anky, then add stego and it’s perfectly viable
Overpowered, in some ways
I heard about this game recently and was excited to look into it and hopefully play it. I was specifically looking to see if Ankylosaurus was playable because it's always been my favorite dinosaur but learning about how toxic the devs and the community is and how much they hate on my favorite dinosaur for no good reason, fuck that I'm not even touching this game. It's a real shame too because it looked good and there aren't any other dinosaur games like it.
Don't worry the drama passed and anky Will be in evrima
