My wife and I have JUST returned (3 days ago) from a three week visit to our daughter, who lives in London. During our stay we took an easy two hour train to York. Stayed for two nights 12/17-12/19. The Christmas market was bustling, vibrant and beautiful. York is an amazing city that exudes English, Viking and Roman history. The Minster is magnificent. The Shambles is wonderful to walk through in no small part because it’s real. It’s great that there are so few chain stores and restaurants. Small specialty shops dominate. The people were friendly and helpful. It was exactly as advertised and didn’t disappoint in any area. So glad we made the trip.
