I had no idea this was an issue until I was on the mountain on a pow day. That’s a huge problem. Their whole marketing is heavy on snow sports and it doesn’t work in the cold…
I have been using rubber bands to stick the warmer to the back of the camera for years and it works great all day.
I do a lot of jumps and eat it big a lot so it would probably fall off any solutions?
Rubber bands do work but don’t look good in the helmet
You just keep the gopro out in the cold with a hand warmer rubber banded to it all day?
@@COD4OldSchoolGlitch Yup.
I just got back from a backpacking trip in the Shawnee National Forest. The lows were around 23 F. Your tip would have been a lifesaver for me! I learned something new! Thanks!
I feel like GoPro was ahead of it’s time but ever since DJI came into the picture (pun intended lol) it really made a much greater impact. People were still not “vlogging” as much as in recent years and thus GoPro was only for “enthusiasts”. Dji has become so popular not because it was first but because it saw where the industry was heading and built on it. Loved your review. All cameras will have reduced performance in the cold anyways
Thanks for the comment! I think you're right about DJI's impact.
I bought a gopro 10 to take to a ski trip. Was a total disaster. My hero 7 was fine. Nice one gopro.
I’m having go pro 10, and currently I’m living extremely cold -30 place. It’s only work for 10 sec. Really disappointed. Get DJI pocket 2
It was not an issue for the gopro 4 that i had, but for the gopro 10 to shutdown seconds when it started recording at barelly -3 C is just bad.
Gonna tape one to the GoPro above site zed
How do i keep my helmet cam warm?
The cold temps are a camera killer. I always have to shove it in my pocket before going up the lift
They are! Give the hand warmer a try or buy the new enduro battery.
What about their new 'enduro battery'? Also, I use the plastic housing to keep camera warm. I'll run the camera for a few minutes before I start so the internals get a chance to warm and function properly.
Good points. I haven't had a chance to test it yet, but I've heard good things!
Here's my review of the Enduro battery in cold weather: ua-cam.com/video/ZsnSqm6omAA/v-deo.html
I had a cheap Akaso action camera as a starter that worked for a reasonable amount of time in -20C -25C , -4F -13F without any cuddling ;-) I was excited to get the GoPro Hero9, especially with the promotional videos on ski hills, expecting great battery life but was disappointed that the famous GoPro would shut off even at -!0C, 14F after 10 to 20 minutes of exposure. From what I've seen the Enduro batteries are a step forward but unfortunately I can't get them shipped to Canada without buying a new GoPro Hero10 bundle. Thanks for the quick Tech Tip.
Stay tuned, we have a video showcasing and putting the enduro batteries through some tests.

What settings do you use on the GoPro? I use 4K 24 with no boost and 5500k
Is that ski clip in Utah?
My gopro turns off in 10 minutes when im skiing and my old 40€ camera could film for hours and not turn off
the diving case helps against the cold wind and keeps the power on even when not recording
Shouldn't have to go through all this hassle to keep your camera working. I used my 8 black a bunch last season and never had an issue with it shutting off. Used it on plenty of sub freezing days and it always worked fine. Tried to use it this past week during the huge blizzard we just had and it shut off about 30 minutes into the day and never recovered. It wasn't until I was back home and the batteries had several hours to warm back up and then charge that they came back to life. What a turd. If they didn't advertise these as the go to ski/snowboarding cameras it wouldn't be such a disgrace...what a slap in the face. Ha
Hey HelpCloud let me give you some help. Hold the Mic closer to your mouth!
Thanks for the feedback!
Try the ENDURO Battery from gopro, seems to solve this issue
sorry, can't hear you.
Turn up the sound!
question:
If someone accidentally download app that will crash PC if someone open PC
how do i uninstall/turn off app without crashing
Example:
If you over-overclocking PC that PC cannot handle it
What does this have to do with the GoPro?
@@HelpCloud I don’t know how to DM you in UA-cam so I ask in one of your video
You can email one of our technicians at inquiry@helpcloud.com

Sorry to hear that, we haven't made any changes to that video so it must be how UA-cam is controlling the ads now.
