As a fellow Weston-er with a rekindled love of fishing, I’ve been loving your channel! Would you recommend that Diawa combo for neighborhood pond fishing? I’m torn between a medium light or an ultralight rig as my next (I have medium through heavy covered). Also, have you tried the new Z-man Micro Finesse soft baits and micro jigs? They’re apparently aimed at panfish and exotics-tiny swim baits and creatures.
If you've already got a medium rod for the bass and fishing in heavier cover, I'd give ultralight a shot. It's a lot more fun to catch bluegills and Mayans on the ultralight, although it's also more challenging.
@@TheFishingNomad thanks! I’ve been researching ultralight setups-what length and action would you recommend for our south Florida conditions? I’ve been seeing 5’6” UL, fast action as a good first rig, but don’t want to be underpowered in our very grassy waters. Thoughts?
@@pmrp12 Not sure how I missed your reply. A 5'6" ultralight fast is a little tough in these waters given all the grasses, lilly pads, and larger fish. It is more fun way to fish though compared to using larger set ups. If I was to be able to fish only one rod in these waters I'd get a 6'6" medium light fast. You can still fish for bluegills on it, but can land a peacock fairly easily on it as well.
@@TheFishingNomad thanks for the reply! I ended up with a Shakespeare micro light action rod paired with a daiwa regal lt reel and have successfully landed several species with it, including a 2lb bass. You’re right, it’s really fun but challenging!
@@pmrp12 Nice. I never fished that rod, but hear it's the best budget rod out there. The regal reel is nice too. Sounds like you got yourself a good combo and are already putting it to use. Congrats.
Ultralight fishing is so much fun nice large mouth after the two little dinks. beautiful sunset as well fun video
Thanks. It's always nice when something larger than a panfish hits on an ultralight.
love the video!
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it.
