A retrospective on the 1989 MS-DOS release of 688 Attack Sub by Electronic Arts (developed by John W. Ratcliff) Also, the 'multiplayer' process was found here: www.subsim.com...
I served on a 688 that is not what control looks like! 1.) Helms and Planes is Upper left, with the diving officer of the watch. 2.) Fire control is along the Right wall 3.) Sonar is the upper right corner behind a curtain. 4.) Navigation is in a separate room toward the gamer's perspective 5.) There are two periscopes, and they look more or less like that with the railing and similar location. 6.) Fathometer is along the Left wall 7.) Radar is along the Left wall toward the player
Had a demo which might have come from a BBS. Couldn't figure out how to play it & it was so boring in monochrome CGA. No-one has ever made a fleet oiler game.

They sure took a boatload of liberties, didn't they?
Fun GAME to play back then. I didn’t care how real it was to the 688. It was all in fun
I feel so old
