It's not poisonous at all. It has just chemicals that when you put in the water, it eliminates oxygen from it making fishes unable to breath and die.

That sap from that vine it just make the fish dizzy and fish float on top of the water and we gather the big fish, after awhile those fish we left became alive and swim away.. I don't know the name of that plant but very effective catching fish in the river that small. Viewing from the Midwest.thanks for sharing.......
