Very happy to see that V/line still owns this loco and uses it as a standby loco for hiring. They even repainted it into the og v/line livery. Some dedication right there.
A66 Goes into retirement! Will this be 3rd time lucky? Or will the old girl be hauled out of mothballs for another stint on the Melbourne rails? Be sure to catch the next exciting episode! Same loco-time, same loco-station!
It's got one last run this Sunday in push-pull with R707 steam. From Spencer/Flinders Street (still can't call it Southern Cross) to Cranbourne on Skyrail, then back to Flinders Street, then to Stony Point and back. Would have loved to do this, but unfortunately left booking to late and missed out. :-(
+The 17th Doctor They will give one to steamrail and one to the Seymour Railway Heritage Centre and perhaps other places. I think there’s 4 A’s belonging to VLINE still
Adelaide Trains and Trams the four v/line a class are in storage near dynon road even like the pacnat a class that i don't have any idea what going to happen to them along with A78 that's In storage at bendigo workshops
matthew dempsey all of PNs A class except 78 have been scrapped. Why hasn’t 66 gone to heritage groups it’s fuckin stupid Edit: V/line still want it as insurance.
@@Schony747 The problem is that because it has come back so many times, we don't really know. The introduction of V/Locity trains to Bairnsdale frees up some N classes, which is something to consider. If it is the last time, it will be a shame but at least you filmed it.
@JuliansTrainsandGames Actually, it's preserved at Newport Workshops and is owned by Steamrail and permanently does railtours now along with A62 which is owned by 707 Operations. Hence, the original V/line orange and grey livery and don't forget that they were originally B classes.

Very good for heritage
Still sad to watch, but grateful it’s been preserved 👍
Dad: Why are you crying so loud?
Me:

I've seen that for myself through these videos of Schony's.

We’ll have it for shunt in Brisbane thanks.
Uh no. Ew.
And they said the last time
Well now she’s back
After a successful test run
Diehard
Hold that thought!!! A66 is now reactivated!!!!!
It's even rescued a V/Line Pass 😀😀
@@Schony747 Indeed!!!!!

Thanks Mate! It's sad but progress I suppose. None of us like to see a favourite retire.
End of an era. I hope they allow a Heritage group to the B/A class, so we can see them for years to come...

Is it not running friday?
Last V/Line service Friday morning and R707 ops special on the Sunday.
Hopefully it comes back again. Wouldn't surprise me if it does.
I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't come back. Everyone expects it to come back so it probably won't.

Thats sad but I'm happy it's now preserved with Steamrail.
Only sad if it doesn't go into preservation.
Why
V/line has ownership of it and even repainted it. Happy

Has The final A class locomotive been scrapped or stored
Stored in Bendigo at the roundhouse under cover.
Schony747 I’ve seen a recent photo of her, she’s being looked after. Tarps covering all the vents on the sides and the like.
Why do a class locomotives have to leave service
Older locos, older technology replaced by something new. It's not always the best byt that's life.
Hopefully this is the last time! I like the nice touch on the "nose"? with chalk haha.
The chalk was nice. Who knows when and where it will resurface again.
now it go to train heaven aka the scrap yard
Certainly won't be made into Coke Cans but where it will ultimately end up will be an interesting story in itself.
this aged poorly
It looks great now in the new livery!
@@Schony747 yea I agree, looks nice
yawn
Yeah I know what you're saying.
