Yes, this was Dennis's first hit with Styx, and it will always be. But, that incarnation of Styx is over. Lawrence has stepped up nicely to replace him. And has also been able to pull Styx out of the pop oblivion DDY put them in.
"The Mission" proved that Gowan can make his mark in such a great band. Without destroying their original music, but bringing it back instead.

Gowan plays a good keyboard but Dennis IS THE VOICE when it comes to his own songs . Ain’t no substitute!!!
Wish they would just play JY and Tommy’s songs
