ASALH President Marvin Delaney makes the case for supporting our Jacksonville Conference and Valarie Holt explains the financial procedures for Branch operations.

Inasmuch as I have long supported the mission of ASALH, and have a passion for intergenerational sharing of our story through oral history, conducting this conference in Florida is yet another way in which the power structure capitalizes on the financial backs of Black people.

CONGRATS to ASALH for confronting attacks on intellectual freedom by Florida's Governor by holding it's convention in Jacksonville and conducting public demonstrations asserting intellectual freedom by teaching African American Studies there. I expect to attend the conference. Hope ASALH will move soon to investigate the new IAAM Museum in Charleston, SC to see that it adheres to regular intellectual guidelines regarding legitimate presentation(s) of African American History and Culture.

It would seem more fitting and proper (as during the Civil Rights Movement of the 60's) to have the profits from housing, food, transportation, etc. go into the pockets of African American people.
