Hey Andre! Glad you're into it! Check out this page where you can view the recording track-sheet: weathervanemusic.org/shakingthrough/hopalong#multitracks -- it'll have more info on what we used to record every part of this song (including Joe's guitars) -- hope that helps!
although looking at the vid again, I think they change snares so it might not be. The general tuning method works though for most snares and as you know, the black beauty is "the one" in most peoples eyes ;)
I just discovered this song this evening. Great video. Love to see how it developed.
This song absolutely slaps. Great insight into the production and recording process here!
I think that Weathervane is my new favorite music genre... Killer track selection.
I love the way you guys operate a session! Very similar to our approach and setup. Inspiring to watch!
+Shelby Preklas -- Thanks! Would love to know more about what you do, too?
Thanks! Luckily, we have that classic snare in the studio :) phew! but I've not had time to try out tuning like this so will try it! again, thanks :)
Can you guys share more detail on Joe's gear? I am entirely in love with it and would love to get some inspiration from it. Thanks in advance!

thanks guys! Loving that snare! do you have the make and model? (or is that in the tracking sheet?)
I spot Eric Slick
+Jake Williams -- he's tough to miss. Ha.

Looks like a Ludwig Black Beauty 14 x 6.5, tuned low on the top, medium/high on the bottom
