Backbreaker had the best physics in any football game in my opinion. They just dropped the ball on the camera and passing. Wish they would’ve put out a few more iterations of the game on consoles/pc to see what it would’ve became.
I understand the cam, tho I love it cuz its different and it made football suspenseful for once. But the passing? You mean the cam and focusing only on one receiver?
@@GeddensGC yeah, I understand what they were trying to do, but I think it would’ve been better if they gave us the option to choose different passing and camera views. I believe more people would have gave it a chance if they did that. Logo design and physics were top notch though in that game.

But they chose to have the camera locked and it was a too much of an adjustment for people. I think most sim football players just want something that takes the basic Madden gameplay formula and actually improves on the physics vs just giving the illusion of physics by adding more animations to a blending tree.

The game had an optimum window to release regarding competition (free or not). To suggest that releasing after a AAA re-enters that underserved market won't negatively impact product adoption is naive.
@GeddensGC Again, there are choices of options that wouldn't have been there earlier (free or not) - product availability and competition does that sort of thing, whether you want to believe that or not. The amount of influence pricing has to mitigate the impact is another discussion, but that does not alter the reality of other choices in the marketplace. Max football simply missed an opportune situation to gain consumers, establish a reputation, and develop brand loyalty before competition even arises.

Gedden good stuff, madden will not and can not make the “ best “ game cause they are so glued to the yearly releases , glued to the dlc MUT income , and unfortunately people still buy it , they have no motivation to change or improve and they would need to stop the yearly releases and work on one project from the ground up if they were to build a truly great football experience , i think a 3 or 5 year break between releases with regular updates would be the best model for us to REALLY see TRUE improvements
Just mentioning (and no, not an EA fan), that by licensing agreement with NFL they have to produce an annual release. The NFL is a much to blame as to the current situation as EA, perhaps moreso.
I will support the game whenever it drops. I believe the DOA comments stem from this game supposedly dropping last year when there was a drought for something other than Madden. I cant recall the last NCAA football game playing exactly like Madden all the one I've played were vastly different in terms of speed of the game, animations,play calling etc etc and i don't believe this new college game will be identical either.
If Max Football plays anything like a refined version of Backbreaker that's a win IMO. If MF plays anything like Madden 05-08(Xbox/PS2 era) it's a huge win 😂. You have a level of insight most us do not have. You've actually played the game(good shyt btw) but I believe some have Maximum Football fatigue at this point. Maybe if a demo was released or if someone put out some footage of the current build showing where it's at would help. Too me the only difference NCAA and Madden was the speed of the game. They played nearly identical. Madden felt more clunky too. But they have 80% - 90% of the same coding.
Ryan Moody thinks Maximum Football is gonna fail but I don't see that happening because it's a free to play football game & I bet the gameplay is gonna get better with each update. Genshin Impact is a free to play action RPG game & it gets updated every 3 weeks w/new playable characters & locations to explore.

The problem is that were not being honest as a community about what we want. Its not that people dont like Madden, clearly the numbers show that we do. Its that we want/expect the game to be better by now. Granted M24 has been a big improvement to many, but we just havent seen the kind of gameplay leap we saw from Madden on PS1 to PS2, XB360. The game has largely been the same ever since. Slight improvements to motion in the jump to Xbox One, but still essentially the same game. Many think the only way for the game to get better is through direct competition. If Madden suddenly invested a billion into incorporating backbreaker level physics, the presentation and depth of 2K, etc then no one would care if there was a competitor out there. So the catch 22 for Maximum is real but if they just lean into making the physics and the gameplay the focus of the improvements vs how much it differs or compares to Madden, i think most people will be able to appreciate it for what it is and it could even push Madden to up its game in the long run... which is what we all really want to begin with.
ncaa will NOT have an impact on Maximum. It's F2P it also is a different game and a different experience than Ncaa. I doubt Ncaa will just be a Madden reskin like he said, though. They also had real time weather effects better than what we have now. The injuries were better, and the players and coaches actually looked concerned and reacted how they should and helped the injured player off the field. You could pull a muscle and still make a play. Players slipped in the rain and snow.. the crowd would cheer louder when the home team did something good. The passing took skill, and timing. The pocket was legit and the best I've seen in a game still. The blocking in the pocket and downfield was great and relistic. You could resch for a tackle while being blocked. The ball trajectory, especially for lob passes, was realistic. You still can not throw a fade in Madden that looks good and works. 2k8 the fade and lob passes were perfeft. You could throw to the back corner and only your wr would have a chance at it.. when a new fewtire for madden was your player can catch an over the shoulder pass without slowing down that says a lot. Why tf was that not always a thing. Madden needs to take a huge step this coming up game or they need to quit. I'd want to put a game out that I'm proud of not just an updated roster and graohics. It wouldn't take nothing for them to fix the presentation and add more superbowl celebrations, commentary, crowd reactions, pre game presentation, post game presentation and just make it feel like a sunday football game. If 2k could do it with 2k5 and 2k8 bo reason with todays hardware, that madden can't. They just dont have a reason to do it
Great points. When I say Just another reskin, I'm mostly referring to the gameplay. They may speed the game up slightly like they did back with the old NCAA games, but will be a different sim football game, like how NFK 2k5 was to Madden, most def not. Not even close.

And other sources as well. This game is a flop before it even released.
