- Lots of new subscribers and questions about our cabin and property here in Alaska.
We are the Retherfords and we live in a 12x16, (with a loft) 375 sq.ft, dry cabin in Alaska. We live a simple and minimal lifestyle. We believe that experiences and relationships are more important than things.
We enjoy the simple, yet hard work involved in living this way.
We are on-grid and do have electricity, but use it minimally. We have no indoor water, bath, or toilet. We have wood stove heat only.
We are only on this earth for a short time and everything here is temporal. We are on a journey to our promised land in heaven, where all things are eternal. With that in mind, we are not working for temporal things but for the eternal. We are living life as God leads and not allowing ourselves to become comfortable or settled but continue to grow and move through this journey.
We have a lot of different content on our channel, just real life stuff for us. Cabin life, our simple ways, Christian content, adventures, hikes, & simple meals & snacks.
Our Channel is a smorgasbord of life lived.
Our goal is to become financially free, and able to pack our bags and go wherever and whenever God leads us.

Good morning, I enjoyed the outside tour. Break-up or the early spring is my least favorite time of year. I don't really care for the mud and cleanup of winter stuff. My wood shed is more empty than yours. I was wondering, do y'all cut your own firewood? Also, it was so kind of you to respond to my email and pictures. Thank you. Have a great and blessed day. Ken
Thank you. Yes we go out and get all of our wood 🪵. Break-up is my least favorite also, all the mud, dog & moose poo in the yard, lots of broken trees and clean-up this year. We may not have a lake in the yard this year, temps are cooperating so far. Have a great week 😃
