- After a nine-month absence, John Adams and Martin North are back to resume their regular programming of In the Interests of the People. Adams discusses the upcoming ASIC inquiry report which will be handed down on Wednesday, 3 July 2024.
The main message coming from the inquiry report is that ASIC cannot be fixed. Adams shows internal ASIC staff survey data which demonstrates why ASIC is utterly broken, incompetent and corrupt.
ASIC isn't unique. Name one government department that isn't a cesspool of corruption and incompetence.

It would be great if police, judicial, govt, medical and social welfare agencies ate some humble pie. Despite their grandeur they are no better than anyone else on the planet.
It's gross how people abuse others for greed and idolatry... and also the reality that most people are willing to stick their heads in the sand and ignore the humungus problem.
And yet, we carry on like stuck profit pigs when the State tries to actually use sovereign power to regulate effectively. CPC under Xi is onto something.

I have lost faith a while ago, all I see around me is corruption and it’s not confined to Australia. As far as I am concerned the whole of the western world has lost its way and has been taken over by corporate greed and corruption and it’s destroying the whole of the fabric of our society.

Thanks for your brave efforts protecting the public interst in the administration of justice. Regulators should administer the law without fear or favour. ASIC needs a rude awakening, for everyone's sake.
Having worked in 2 main rolls for a State Grubberment for a total of 14 years until I had to leave to protect my sanity from witnessing sexism, racism, bullying, harassment, manipulation, corrupt financial moral and sexual behaviour I can tell you 100% that there is a lot of problems that go on.
It was very very disturbing to say the least.
Having lost to corruption in 3 asx companies, I estimate that Australia's trillion dollar debt is equal to Australians losses to corporate financial crimes permitted by ASIC in the past 15 yrs

My mother used to work at Asic and she absolutely hated it. She called it the hell hole and came home a few times crying because their performance levels are very strict and they don't give a crap how it effects their workers mentally. Asics system is the biggest pile of crap and often people on the phone would have been waiting for hours before talking to someone and when they did any "abuse" towards staff would result in an immediate termination of the phone call. Asic is a horrible company to work for and I strongly recommend people to not ever apply for a job there.
ASIC operates by the Mr Bumble principle - give the people exactly what they don't want and they won't come back for more.

ASIC is rotten to the core. In the name of "protecting" people, they increased the margin requirements so high that it is now very difficult and even more risky to be a profitable Forex trader. The margins that brokers are now forced to impose on traders eats into available trading capital so much that the chances of losing your trade and capital has increased... Unless of course you are already a multi millionaire. In that case you are able to still trade with low margin requirements. Thanks ASIC for the "protection".

As a victim of financial scam in Australia in past 20years I would like to see this corrected. When an individual looses everything and goes to a Government department for assistance at the time that particular individual is suffering from guilt and depression for allowing themselves to be taken advantage of. There was no satisfaction of any kind in my particular case. To get on with life there comes a time when you have to let it go. There must be some justice for many victims of crime.
I hope you. see Karma working for those criminals , and you get justice one day.I had great injustices and. financial losses too.
