Best,
Remy
greatest lesson for technical difficulties ever... i've been playing this song for the past 6 or 7 years, but couldnt explain better than you...good job
Thanks Remy, this is a great video. I'm planning on spending the next 3 years perfecting these riffs and licks, and the following 3 years learning the ones in the part 2 video.
1 hour practice per day took one year of my life to play this song corectly at 50% speed (i am a total beginner)
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOhh Remy Remy Remy...you are sssoooo cccooolll.. You make it look as easy as Our very own Mr Gilbert.. Thanks once again....
awesome that you actually took the time to explain the picking. picking in that main riff has been giving me hell.
no your wrong.. mr paul gilbert would never dislike this video.. in fact, i'm pretty sure he's proud of mr. remy to provide this useful video..
Spot on about the open E! I bet Paul himself has never noticed that, just one of those little habits.
You are SO right about the open E thing. I'm gonna find myself trying to use that all the time now.
i like the way you keep moving along and your guitar is actually in tune and you give details i dont get even on pauls own videos, and i have them all:)
That upstroke start did it for me, thanks =)
6:10 I never noticed that! Awesome :p
Remy in case you don't know, you are the man, the myth, and the legend of Paul Gilbert material. Please keep these lessons coming. And if I may make a suggestion, maybe you could do Individually Twisted off the album Alligator Farm.
Thanks man , i will learn this tunes. i allready worked the scarified for three years by watch your lessons and lot paul gilbert youtube video lessons. hahhaaha i think i nailed it now, oh and also change my pick size to thin pick , there is alot off work to play that tunes its feels imposible to play scariefied back then cause my left hand kinda week
You are welcome! I hope all is clear enough for you to figure it out! You can do it! All the best, Remy
Thanx man.....I learned alot from this one......tap harmonics are awesome!!!
thanks for sharing & show that!!! i got a lot learn how to play technical difficulties by paul gilbert!!!,,,.
@justinhoman Thanks again man! You see, when I started to really get into guitar Playing some 20 years ago, there was no internet! No Tablature to download etc. I had to buy the Official Tablature books! And learn my technique /Scales/ Theory , from Magazines like Guitar World, Guitar for the practising Musician! And believe me, there's was no one to tell me about that stuff! So it was trail and Terror! But by playing , Transcribing etc, it started to make sense to me ! So GO FOR IT! Best, Remy
Thanks for sharing with us.......It ia really appreciated......Aloha!!!!!!
Thanks for this lesson, helped clear things out, DOWN STROKE in the START, plus the accents...
thanks Remy,if it not bcoz of you,i dont think i can ever learn this song man......even Paul himself explained about this but i still cant figure it out bcoz of his big hand,i cant streched my finger like him but amazingly you can......its not easy to use the ring finger especialy when it come at the moment for streching....you are always my mentor when come to played PG song....
Thanks for this clip, Ramy , i love this . will follow you to practice.
please make more clips .
Dear lord. Original PGM and an Applehorn. *heavy breathing*
nice lesson........i like it.....
good lesson dude!!!this is more like it!!
You might be part of the very few people to figure out that the "arpeggios" in the intro section were played using legato and not alternate picking :) Glad to see that !
Same goes for the short ghost notes (open E) opening those, the accent on the first note of the "picking lick", and starting that riff on a downstroke which feels much more natural (to me).
Really well done !
mr. remy hansen your so amazing.. hahaa.. your videos inspire me to play guitar as well as paul gilbert's music.. you rock! thank you very much for this lesson.. i really appreciate it
The notes of G major and of E minor are exactly the same. Just the order is different. Depending on the way the chords and notes are accented defines the key but as it flip flops it's hard to point it for either as it seems to go from a majorish feel to a minorish feel at points. Hope this helps :)
Thanks for posting the video! it helped a lot! I really like the 16th note triplets lick, alternate picking challenge. it's really brilliant that after every group of sixes he goes down a fourth. it's a great idea to try in different keys. i don't know how paul came up with that!!
It works both ways down or upstroke. Just depends on how you prefer it. You can even economy pick.
You are absolutely right! However in this video I wanted to keep it the way Paul plays this himself. But yeah, use whatever works I guess! Best, Remy
Last line of the video: "and then of course comes the solo..."
Me: "Wasn't all of that a solo?" -_-
heh ehhe hehehe.... you're joking right?
Mohit Rahaman you just sound like a dickhead.
Geweldige uitleg! Zr. Duidelijk ook ;)
Thnx Man! Great!
thanks a ton!!!
ive been waiting for this since the first time you told me u might think on working for it
:D
You are very good at both playing and teaching sir. Love your vids!
i was playing some parts wrong, you opened my eyes, thank you so much!
Thanks for putting out these lessons! They all help so much!
he aprendido mucho de este video... gracias brother
I've maybe already told you this, but you very nice playing.
I will catch it to, I really want to know this sensation, you know what I mean !! and every day i'm approching it, hmmm that's so good and it will be forever
LETS ROCK
Dude, thanks for this! You are a very good teacher!
helpful lesson...and cool guitar
I've been waiting for this Remy thanks man.!
Nice one Remy! Skit skat wah please.
@CIAmrx The PGM301 has PAF Pros in the neck/bridge, but a lot of people don't like the PAF Pro in the bridge position, saying that it doesn't sound thick enough. Paul plays with a ToneZone in there nowadays if he's using his PGM301.
I know Paul doesn’t play like that but I like to play the fast alternative picking with economy picking so every time i hit the non muted note its a downstroke. I feel that it sounds cleaner that way
Thanks man, you sound spectacular! best wishes!
i thought only my guitar guru could play this one.. (check bijit bora.. ) U shred bro.. love it !!
11:00 time slowed down around your left hand. That riff has more fanes then a deth metal bands hair dresser. Well played!
Thanks for the tutorial!
Great Lesson pal!!!
Thanks.
great job bro
lol this is so hard a tutorial, but it's okay since u reveal all the difficult part. Nice one sir
Hi Remy,
Great video and lesson.
I'm now looking forward to "Viking Kong" lesson :)
Will it happen?
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Thank you !
very good,,,
@OCNmeticadpa Awesome. I have two Les Pauls, one with a Tone Zone (B) and Air Norton (N) combo which I love. My second LP has a Seymour Duncan SH-4 JB in the bridge, and I am curious as to whether or not a PAF Pro would make a good neck pickup complement to the JB. I am not really interested in the Seymour Duncan Jazz model or 59 neck model pickup, I want something with a little more punch.
hi Remy! I really like your lessons and other videos! Can you do a lesson on Scarified? thank you very much..
Amazing Song, Amazing Player!, Awesome Remy
one thing i would like to say when playing the intro is not to hold down the notes, i noticed you are not holding down the notes and thought it was just a preference or something, but if you hold down the note you will not get the same staccato sound and it wont sound right. nothing against the video just i didnt not know that and it was kind of messing me up and thought some of you would be helped to know this.
haha i started my PC too look after some technical difficulities lessons- and what happened? Remy was up on the page!
Really wanted to learn the arpeggio of that 11th min.
Can't find anywhere else
Mind making a video again of that line? Hehe
@radz108 Hey there! I Don't really know about the " gilbert tone", but I ALWAYS put a fair amount of Mid in my sound! It makes it more direct and cuts Through! I Love the Vintage Modern though! A Student of mine has the 50 watt head, and one day We Cranked it open almost all the way! And that Really worked! In This video I had the Gain at 21:00 O:clock Low gain Channel, And the Fuzz inverse Pedal to Boost that! I used the Left Side of the Pedal, not the Distortion side, just the Boost!
Remy
thanks for the tips sir
your great Remy!, thanks for making this lesson it helps a lot, next time can you make a tutorial of Chris Impellitteri;s Somewhere Over The Rainbow.;)
I guess you mean in the beginning (where C is the base)...
Well, if you lift it you get sort of a rythm in your fingers and besides it sounds better. The string still sounds a bit even if you palm mute it with your picking hand.
Weren't you the guy from the Ibanez clinic at feedback a little while back?
What a small world we live in!
wow good job man
I've been playing guitar for 14 years and been playing this song for a while now and I don't understand why you would want to start with a down-pick..
@Voddgreen Thank you very much! I try to cover a lot in those short minutes.....!
great :D curse of castle dragon up next? :D
Amazing, please one video: "how to play hurry up" please, please!!!!!!!
Paul is definitely my favorite player and obviously one of yours as well. You got some skills bro. I'm an axeman with 40+ years and many bands to my credit so not easily impressed. Keep rippin it up my friend! Vick
Vick K thanks Vick!!
I like the nod to the Simpson's theme song as well Bro.
This is a good video
Nice performance dude!
hey Remy ... where did you get the licks of Paul Gilbert?? can i have some of those licks..? haha You are great guitar player.....
Hey remy , nice lesson and can u please tell is that a paul gilbert signature ibanez iceman ?
What pickups does it has ? does it has 2 single coils attached to the bridge ?
Hey Remy, I notice that you have a lot of Ibanez PGM's, all of which (at least from what I've read) use Dimarzio PAF Pro pickups. I'm considering one in the neck position of my guitar. How do you like the PAF Pro's?
@remyhansen Hey Remy. You Play with all the feeling, you are very talented.
I need to ask you something please:
¿Did you study in some school of classical music or something like that?
¿If i practice this. Will I be quick to play the guitar?
You know,i practice this things, and this give me some speed, but i dont know if i can use this to learn how to play with speed like paul,or yngwie malmsteen, you know.
Thank You. And sorry for my bad english,i'm from Argentina hahaha. :)
nice!!!!!
@DazzerrGuitar
remy is so awesome he has posters of himself on his wall!
...thank you thank you!....i have this song as an assignment(for aural training) and i cannot figure out that part when it moves one octave higher and when the string skipping thingy happened! thanks!
@robinfr93 Thanks for following me so closely!
Best,
Remy
can you please give the backing track??? amazing work bro!
i love ur tone, can u give me ur settings please?
Hey man, thanks for these tutorials! I really like how you dont spend 10 minutes spelling out every single note... Any chance you could explain the arpeggio sequence in YRO?
@tye2teb You're very, very welcome!
I still have some technical difficulties after watching this video.
Your tone is absolutely amazing, how do you get that distorted yet clean tone? I've really been trying to get it but I just can't. What are your settings?
Hey Remy awesome vid man! you know so much ! I wish I could hang out and jam with you lol.
one question: on the fast picking sixteenth note triplet run, You said he starts with a downstroke, but this is really difficult for me because it forces you to do "inside picking" . any tips??
thanks again!
i subscribed
Very nice! except the last note of the fast lick which is played a string lower :)
เยี่ยมเลยครับพี่ ผมกำลังจะแกะเล่นอยู่พอดีเลย
@gtnapo Please check my other Vids! There's a lot more different stuff that I do! Check my Licks videos !Becker has always been a great influence in my playing too! ....
nice! what pedal effects do you use on this video?
doesn't Paul Gilbert say in his "Terrifying Guitar Trip" that he starts it with an upstroke?
Awesome tutorial and excellent technique, Remy! I was wondering, what are your engl powerball amp settings to get your "Paul GIlbert" tone. Is it all amp OD or do you use a pedal? Paul (as you know) uses a Vintage Modern. I have a Powerball 2 and a JVM 410. On my JVM I can get close to his tone, but not sure how to dial that in with my Powerball 2.
Thanks
Haha nice man, ik dacht, hé ik ken dat accent ergens van. Toen keek ik naar je naam x)
Thank you :)
Good played.
I cant find tabs of arpegio before solo, u play it at 11:30.
Can u help with this thing??
@YuriRhodenborgh Ehh .. Waar ken ik jou van dan?
wish u could explained more about the solo between 11:30 till 11:54
Thats the hard part that U passed it
damn that guitar sounds good! It`s like the voice of PG
do you know which pickus are on it?
Hey ! You did not explain the 11:01 part (the "gilbertish thing") ! Great lesson thought, thank you very much ^^
hey do you rest your pinkie on the body of the guitar when picking at all? i have been picking like that for a really long time and it's difficult for me to adjust it but i'd like to know what's the correct and more efficient way of alternate picking
can you post a video on how to play curse of the castle dragon(paul gilbert)
