    We live in Bend. Have found that if you look under the part of the Apple Weather for Bend that says the air quality - there is some small print that says “More data from Breezometer”. If you click on that you get a map of the Bend area that shows where the air is good and where the air is bad. It seems to be VERY LOCALIZED. So if it’s bad where we live - we can often drive 30 minutes to where it is fine. Like sisters - or over by the lakes on the other side of Mt. Bachelor. Pretty Cool!

    Big fan of all your videos, including the ones that show mostly the in-between parts of life.
    Latte art looked great today, Eric.
    Can’t wait to watch you both race this coming weekend! Safe and happy travels!

    A dedicated triathlete on this side of the pond, same morning ritual. Up early, err having a dog helps with that! Coffee machine on and fresh ground coffee in one of my That Triathlon Life coffee cups. Then sit thinking about the training to come that morning. Before the evening swim teaching at the pool. a very cool vibe this week, love the bike riding edits, always a Sunday afternoon treat. Stay safe, much love from this side of the pond in the UK. See you next week!!

    Not sure if this will work with your schedule but you are invited for an amazing gravel road ride here in Walla Walla Wa. Aprox. 5 hour drive, September 12th, a 95 mile ride would make a great training day for you both 😁

    A super dumb question. I see that unless Paula has biking or running shoes on she lives in those Birkenstocks. Does she lwear the original leather ones? Or, is she using the synthetic ones you mentioned before about being great for the to and from the pool. Whatever she uses, she seems to love! Great videos and good luck to both of you the rest of the season. .

    What kind of rest times do you guys do between reps or sets on your swims? I'm curious.
    Been reading swim training books lately and the rest times between reps and sets they recommend is absolutely bonkers (way too short) compared to running and biking. I cannot fathom how 5 or 10 seconds rest between hard 50's, 100's and 200's is remotely doable. In running and biking, pretty much every exercise physiology book says you need between 1 to 3 times longer than the exercise rep itself (depending on rep intensity snd distance)... so that should be like a minute rest between 100 efforts. No idea where all these swim coaches come up with 5 or 10 second rest intervals.

    • @emilymortensen
      @emilymortensen 3 роки тому +2

      5 or 10 seconds is very very normal for rests in swimming. I’ve been a competetive swimmer for over 12 years and it’s a blessing if I get more than 20 seconds rest during hard 50’s.

    • @MrGabeasch
      @MrGabeasch 3 роки тому +1

      Hi! I was a college swimmer and I’m now a club coach. 5-15 seconds between each 50/100 is normal. Short rest during the set, then you get longer rest in between sets. This is how you build endurance.

    • @alexjohnson6462
      @alexjohnson6462 3 роки тому

      Thanks for the replies. I guess if most of your training is relatively short to medium distance reps, then ultra short rests between reps makes sense for building endurance.
      Though, I've also kind of wondered why swimmers don't often do reps over 400 to 500 metres or yards, and just build endurance by just swimming 1500 to 2 miles continuously more often.
      However, I guess the logistics of multiple athletes all doing 30 to 70 laps in the pool continuously is not feasible. That, and dedicated swimmers (as opposed to many triathletes) only do 1500 as their longest event, so perhaps building endurance through fast pace with short rests is more efficient than building endurance through the long and slow method which is more popular in running and biking.

    Happy to say it, mountain biking is like the best bike riding possible, happy you have found this happiness, now keep working on the happiness, as I heard like Gods name in vain, sure you crashed, but had nothing to do with him, as I even think I posted you had a crash coming your way, happens to all mountain bike riders, and gravel bike riders, so be careful paula,,,nice pour on the coffee, and will say, I will give some extra credit, to tri atheltes, as I am finding it super tough to bike, and run, I mean i am good at both, but when one gets super good like running did, running the santa Cruz course, man it feels like kona, even has a farm we run by, next to the ocean, but legs really started to flow, the other just falls apart, hopefully with some prayers to God, he will show me the way:)
