I planted an LSU Purple cutting just early this year and got a couple little fruits off of it already. They were small but very good despite all that. I'm excited to see if they'll get any better because they really were some standout figs, I was excited to see it in your underrated list as well. Just exploding with melons and tutti fruity spice, that is a wonderful fig for me.
I prefer honey/melon/tropical (especially if they have some complexity) and "figgy"/date flavor figs more than the Berry spectrum personally.

You have to move that scarecrow around because the birds will get used to it being in that one spot and will not hesitate to test and see if it’s real.

I am a new fig owner...no crop this yr on the 3 fig trees, the white Marseilles being one, I purchased this season, but I'm hopeful from next yr based on what I've learned. I didnt understand the flavor profile of each fig depending on the color of the fig so thank you for explaining this very thoroughly.

    Ross,
Your video on figs for California climate was the best ever! People are looking for specific info on fig growing. I feel like the newbies need bullet point videos. There seems to be no videos on UA-cam with point given information. I think this is an opportunity that you should consider.
Slow growing varieties that should be grafted to vigorous rootstock.

    My favorite Black Mission types
    My favorite Mt Edna types
    The best varieties for drying
    The most complex flavors.
    The most rain resistant
Figs with the shortest hang time.

    The richest figs/figs for desert

I'm going to ask before I forget, maybe you get to this...but how do you have any ripe fruit right now? Are they all breba at this time? I live in San Diego and pot planted like 13 varieties. They are all doing something different, and in the case of my VDB...nothing! Well, she was a huge stick when I got her and she has grown limbs and leaves, no figs yet. My kadota was slow to grow, then boom...leaves and all kinds of figs...they all fell off last week and new more beautiful ones are coming in now. Maybe the first ones were breba, didn't like what was going on, and now I'm getting main crop? IDK. Peter's honey is taking forever to ripen, but he has like 10 figs on him. He looks great. My brown turkey (although super generic and I hesitated to buy him) has some huge green figs on it right now...they look like they are getting some color today! Who knew. It's my best one so far! I'll keep waiting!!

Hey Ross I have a couple fig trees in the ground in the same climate as you . I’m in Glenside pa . I have a nice main crop and want to know you opinion if I should pinch the branches again or prune branches with out figs to help the main crop become ripe faster. Or is it too early and I’m just being impatient ?

Hahaha Ross can't believe that comment you made about the lighter one being more suited for women and the darker, more rugged one for men 🤪🤪. Probably be arrested here for saying something potentially sexist like that in a public video 😲😲

GINZY, i hope this is not a reference to a ginzo , a slang for italian. I must admit he does look a little like the old italian man that lived up the street from me when i was little. Funny how we can make fun of italians but not about anybody else,or we are called racist! Good video figs look great.
