All the new lore is such a treat. @svlsrv0010 Because he was a gag writer first and long form plots that go on for years and years just were not happening like that back then. Plus, he was working so hard just to keep up with Dragon Ball and later Dragon Ball Z.
@svlsrv0010 He was a legendary mangaka, it fits the trophe of a troll master sensei in the Japan culture. He was a gag writer and liked to mess around. He himself has said to forget and make things on the get go. He was a genious like Roshi
@svlsrv0010 That was his method of writting, there are two types of authors, the ones that craft the story, lore and characters before writting, and the ones that just go along with their characters in an adventure and write and create at the same time, that second type is Toriyama. Arguably, the second type of writer is having more fun writting as it feels like an adventure for the writer as well, but you need some serious talent to create a good story in that style, and Toriyama did have that kind of talent.

At this point it does kind of feel like Gt, Super and Daima might and up as 3 different timelines branching off from the main Dragon Ball (Og + Z) canon.😅 And to be honnes......Im not totally against that
No, I don't really see that. Nothing in Daima as of yet contradicts Super and GT has always been Toei sidestory nonsense so it's not really a timeline in any real sense.
I really missed this style of Dragon ball! The original series has long been my favorite of the three. Don’t get me wrong, I love Z and Super. Both absolutely great continuations! But something about the fun adventure feel with a little ass kickery on the side is just my thing! I’m glad we have something that feels a little more like OG DB this time around.

Demon Realm in Side Materials: *RUN THEM HANDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!* 👹👹👹👹 Daima: "Hey, man. I just wanna show you a cool story. Nothing bad happening here." ☺☺
Or it's demonic name for the Makaioshin that are banished there. It is hard to imagine Zeno and Grand Priest would willingly allow beings from the Demon Realm to rule over the 12 universes.
It really depends on the nature of demons. It doesn't seem unlikely that apparently sophisticated Glinds would make for a good impartial overseers for the universes they're in. It's very unclear whether demons are evil by nature or not. And it was before the more restrictive laws segregating the realms.
Why? The Demon World isn't like Hell; you can't assume all are evil. Hell, Enma Daio is a giant oni, a type of demon as well. Let's also keep in mind that fundamentally good beings like Namekians are also from the Demon Realm originally.
I love having Kid Goku back. GT never did Goku as a kid justice, he was often a background character in the first half of GT while Pan and Trunks were front and center, until the combat started, then the focus shifted to Goku, but it was just Z style fighting, flight, beams and Ki, and fast punches and kicks. The best Kid Goku action we got during GT was in the Super 17 arc, when he was trapped in hell and fought both Freeza and Cell, where we got to see him clowning around as he fought, he used a Destructo Disk like he would Kintoun, and used a broken spike like he would the Nyoibō, and it was a treat to see him beat both Freeza and Cell fighting like he would when he was a kid. The bar fight scene was just beautiful, no over the top Ki blasts, just a beautifully choreographed fight with Goku jumpping all over the place, and the humor of the situation too, Glorio and Shin just sitting at the table casually while Goku fights, jumpping across their table and picking up the Demon Realm burger mid combat. Just beautifully done and a lovely callback to the OG Dragon Ball
I don't mind the changes to the Kaioshin lore. It's totally Toriyama to come up with something a while ago and either forget or remix some things when he finally gets around to expanding on such ideas. Though the guide book changes aren't that detrimental since the whole Core People, Tree thing and the Demon Realm was not really expanded in any real capacity until now as far as I know making the guide books more like little neat trivia now it seems. TLDR; Basically all we knew was relegated to guide books ages ago, it's not surprising or bad that Toriyama's ideas for it grew and changed.
It should be noted that the Daizenshuu wasn't technically written by Toriyama, only approved and praised by him. Not everything is 100% consistent as per Toriyama tradition.
I definitely feel like Toriyama has been wanting to make dragon ball go back to its roots and be a fun cute adventure. if we would’ve gotten the demon realm in Z, it definitely would’ve been more edgy.
I love DB Daima, but I hope it doesn't ret-con Super, as I would love a continuation of that show sometime in the future. I also am intrigued as to how well Daima meshes with the Buu saga.
There’s only going to be a few episodes of this series but I still feel like there could be more. The amount of depth this show has makes it feel like classic dragon ball but obviously a modern twist.
no, they have not been retconned in so far as from their origins, the term glind is new, but the rest is worded to where it for the time being is still compatible with older info
I know this is disconnected from the main topic of the video but I think Panzy is supposed to be Towa, their designs are similar since they have an identical color palette (which Toriyama could have made her look like anything) and since we do know Gomah isn’t the rightful heir, so it could be the rightful heir is Panzy which would explain why she would hide behind a mask and go under a different name since Gomah likely sent her into hiding. Also Panzy besides having a big resemblance to Towa and her concealing her identity, the way that she hides her identity is through a giant mask. Which as we all know, Towa specifically uses masks in all of her plans! And masks hardly pop up anywhere else in Dragon Ball! We do know that Towa and Mira are apart of the main timeline since Toriyama in a Bandai Tweet for Kakarot and the developers said in an interview that the Kakarot base game story mode and major side quests are apart of the main timeline, that means Towa and Mira canon. So this would likely serve as an origin.
Goku using the plates to fight while eating reminded me a lot of the fights in Bruce Lee movies, where it's mainly about using the objects and space around you to fight.
I am enjoying everything so far. The only issue I have visually is the same thing I have with most modern animations... everything feels so clean. clothes pristine, no scuff marks anywhere, instead a soft gradient...
I really hope Goku hasn't gotten used to the air yet, despite him claiming so. Introducing a hinderance/nerf, only to remove it in the same episode is such a rookie mistake.
I will always be quality over everything. If the producers need to take 1 month per episode to get quality visuals and more importantly storytelling, then I will always be down for it.
It's cool you're doing this Lawrence. I hope it's not rude for me ask. What's going on with Dragonball R&R? I imagine I might've not heard or seen a video you shared about it.
I know Daima isn't just supposed to be "Toriyama's GT" but I feel like that's what its becoming and that's a good thing. Its so far a perfect blend of DBZ's action and DB's wacky comedic adventures.
It would be fascinating if dabura was revealed to be a hero for the demon world who eventually went to babidi for more power. Not necessarily a good guy but a protector of the demon realm.
I can believe that Goku can learn about the other universes without breaking canon, because it would be classic Goku for him to just forget about them and have to be told again
So far Daima hasn't grabbed my interest too much with anything. I'll keep watching because it isn't bad or anything. It is also competing constantly in my mind with the continuation of Super.
6 episodes max in the 3rd realm and we’ll have a good pace with enough battles and world building lore. 20 episodes isn’t a lot so they’re gonna need to space out these realms. They still have to fight the tamagamis.
dragonball did just retcon it's world at times i don't mind seeing it being fully changed from what was just in guides. love it took it's time showing the world especially dabura's statue(really with his fate in buu makes me feel more bad for him that he just got taken from his kingdom by babidi with his subjects likely not knowing.),being different in world design that shows goku will build up adapting to going from bandits to thugs stealing the ship after that really toriyama fight scene in the bar(loved it just as much the teaser & the burgers look delicious/for some reason just seeing a hotel in dragonball find funny.) /shin's wow at the realm being enjoyable.
Supreme Kai being a Glind is no retcon. It was never stated in the manga what his race was. Those databooks never been canon to begin with. Merely the manga is canon and whatever Toriyama created a story for. He barely was involved with those databooks. They merely took from interviews for those databooks. He never sat down and wrote anything for it.
I wonder if that Wolf Guy that ran off with the other bandit is the wolf that was in front of Glorio in the final trailer? Maybe a power-up he get's or something 🤔?
As much as I want to engage with the review, I can't in good conscious listen to the video's audio. I'm easily influenced by what I listen, and I want to engage and discuss the series in my own terms without someone else's words. Still, Masako's videos do deserve a watch, and I don't know if muting it prevents the feeding of the algorithm.
That happens with Twitch, I don't know about YT, but if you're on PC you can mute the browser tab and it still counts as if you were 'listening' to the vid. Hope it helps.
Muting doesn't change the system as considering that you watched a video, all that matters is that the video plays through. That said, you're better off just watching the review once you've watched the episode.
So I have a neat theory. Since we got a Kai that went bad with Zamasu, perhaps Shin was a Makaioshin that grew tired of the culture and left the demon realm to become a "good guy". Perhaps hes the reason the pin numbers are in place, though that could have been because of babidi and dabura too.

At this point it does kind of feel like Gt, Super and Daima might and up as 3 different timelines branching off from the main Dragon Ball (Og + Z) canon.😅
And to be honnes......Im not totally against that
I know right? Like for people who are...why? They clearly dont want to connect to eachother let them be their own thing
Daima supposedly will have impact on Super manga when it's back
No, I don't really see that. Nothing in Daima as of yet contradicts Super and GT has always been Toei sidestory nonsense so it's not really a timeline in any real sense.
I loved that Goku was eating during the fight, showing he wasn't even using a good amount of his power
"pointy ears means someone is from demon realm" ---> proceeds to introduce many characters in demon town who has different ears
What?
@@HowdyJ.Marston each ep we hear that people with pointy ears are from demon realm, but then we see a bunch of characters with different ears in town/bar in this episode
@@BlackThane all of them has points ears though. The only "odd" one is the wolf guy.
@@BlackThaneWell, they could be from other realms warped into the demon realm by some odd occurrence..
I was paying attention to the ears, everyone I noticed had pointy ears
With the slower pace of the show, taking time to establish the worlds and the plot, I'm hoping we eventually see some sort of flashback episode to help explain what the deal is with Shin and his siblings. Would be cool to get more backstory on him as well as elaborate more on the clear tension there is between him and Degesu.
Demon Realm in Side Materials: *RUN THEM HANDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!* 👹👹👹👹
Daima: "Hey, man.
The eastern conception of "demons" is different, and not necessarily evil.
@svlsrv0010yep and we both know how he turned out.
"I can't move very fast. Why's the air so heavy?"
"That's the Nerf Gas."
Im glad they are changing the stuff in the Daizensu, it was confusing and contradictory.
So after Daima of course, what if Dabura turned good (While alive)
no, they have not been retconned in so far as from their origins, the term glind is new, but the rest is worded to where it for the time being is still compatible with older info
The only issue I have visually is the same thing I have with most modern animations... everything feels so clean. clothes pristine, no scuff marks anywhere, instead a soft gradient...
berrus fought while eating 😂😂
I can see kid goku eating while fighting in og Dragon ball
I really hope Goku hasn't gotten used to the air yet, despite him claiming so. Introducing a hinderance/nerf, only to remove it in the same episode is such a rookie mistake.
0:31 Oh, no. Keep the voice. Just keep having a cold all of the time. Wonderful.
Great video.
I will always be quality over everything. If the producers need to take 1 month per episode to get quality visuals and more importantly storytelling, then I will always be down for it.
Can we really say something is a retcon when it was never properly introduced into the manga in first place?
The empathy i feel for a cold at 5am because of a little one... Masako, buddy, I feel ya. It's worth it.
The first time Goku gets into a bar fight is when he got de-aged and has a physique of a kid
It's cool you're doing this Lawrence. I hope it's not rude for me ask. What's going on with Dragonball R&R? I imagine I might've not heard or seen a video you shared about it.
Goku's pointy ears are so cute, missed opportunity if it isn't an option/accessory on the upcoming figures lol
Love me some good old retcon
Yeah that's Chekov's sea of darkness... no way a villain and/or goku doesnt fall in it by the end 😂
I know Daima isn't just supposed to be "Toriyama's GT" but I feel like that's what its becoming and that's a good thing. Its so far a perfect blend of DBZ's action and DB's wacky comedic adventures.
that moment u find out your fav. F1 youtuber ... is dropping dragon ball content .. 🤯🤯🤯
I love that the volcanoes are garlic shaped
It would be fascinating if dabura was revealed to be a hero for the demon world who eventually went to babidi for more power. Not necessarily a good guy but a protector of the demon realm.
Yu yu hakusho coded and I'm here for it
Omg, true
I really hope we get what if editions of daima...our favourite radish, perhaps? 😉
I can believe that Goku can learn about the other universes without breaking canon, because it would be classic Goku for him to just forget about them and have to be told again
Yeah, I think I'm just gonna dip out. Daima just rubs me the wrong way at this point.
Bye
So far Daima hasn't grabbed my interest too much with anything. I'll keep watching because it isn't bad or anything. It is also competing constantly in my mind with the continuation of Super.
So in this episode Goku polished his rod and it extened inside the ship.
I suddenly want a Demon World hamburger now.
I wonder if that Wolf Guy that ran off with the other bandit is the wolf that was in front of Glorio in the final trailer? Maybe a power-up he get's or something 🤔?
Hm, i see, good to know.
Hey if its toriyama retconing stuff im down with it. Guide books should never be used as a reliable source of information
Personally I never took Daizenshuu as canon anyways
The whole glind thing really gives me a fresh perspective about both Zamasu and Roh. As why they are how they are. What’s your opinion about that?
