  • How to catch a loose lovebird
The lovebird is one of nine species of the genus Agapornis (from the Greek "agape" meaning "love" and "ornis" meaning "bird"). They are small birds, between 13 to 17 cm and weighing 40 to 60 grams, and are social. Eight of these species are native to Africa, while the gray-headed lovebird is native to Madagascar. Their name comes from the commonly observed behavior that a couple would sit close to each other and love each other. The nature of the lovebird pair is monogamous in the wild. Their average lifespan is 10 to 15 years.[1] In Indonesia, it is most commonly found in Papua and also in North Sumatra.
