Another idea for the "killing intent" is it may in fact be "dragon fear" a common power of Dragons in D&D that inflicts a godlike terror in lesser beings that face them
That's very probably. Dragon Fear is such an important part of facing dragons in D&D it'd be silly for the author to leave it out. It's entirely possible Sebas gets a HUGE bonus to intimidation abilities because of his dragon levels. Probably why his creator made him a dragonoid to begin with, to stock up on the intimidation bonuses. I know i've done it in the past.
To add onto this. I think certain dragons, like Sardior the Ruby Dragons, can actually use an altered form of their fear aura to actually buff their allies as well as to scare and debuff their foes.

thats a wyvrin mate, love the comment, but the people who designed skyrim didnt know what the differance between a dragon and a lesser being known as wyvrins.
Oh, and Sebas and the six sister battle maids were set as cannon fodders in the 9th floor to buy enough time for the guild members to switch to their strongest gears and buff themselves. They expected that any players coming through the 8th floor would do short work on a level 100 dragonoid and some level 50-60 maids.
@@Sanzo_- The thing is, if you look at how the weapons have changed over the time to the relationship to the armor. Cocytus will win against Sebas, the reason being his Weapon Set is designed to cut the typical Monk-type armor (cloth), which was later not possible with the Heavy Plate armor. And what was there dug out again blunt weapons such as clubs and hammers, because they are quite successful against heavily armored targets, ergo albedo.

His breath weapon is obviously tea. Buy if he's a dragon he's probably a silver dragon since in dnd white dragons while being considered chaotic evil like black dragons (who are all I'm the best everything should be mine f you), white dragons are the most animalistic out of all dragons in DnD. Silver on the other hand are lawful good like the gold and bronze dragons ,but love to hang out with the mortal races (but like all dragon they still think their superior, cause dragons) and it's very common for them to polymorph to blend in with them, they also had an unusual trait they loved human dining culture, and unlike the gold and bronze dragons, the silver dragon did not usually go out of its way to bring justice to the world. Instead, it waited for others to ask them for help. They would attempt to right an injustice if they saw one, but they had no inclination to intentionally seek evil out and destroy it. Silver dragons were more interested in protecting the humans or elves it came to care for than in looking for evil.
Well, his character card says steel Butler so he might as well be the steel dragon, that's also a metal so it fits his good alignment, plus as mystical as gold and Platinum are, went it comes to strength and flexibility it beats then both by far, it is just less efficient as a conductor which would reinforce his theme as a martial artist and having low mp. Not to mention steel being an alloey rather than a single element would fit his background of being a Demi dragon
@@MiloTheFirst1 IK this is three years old but the only Platinum dragons were gods being Bahamut and these two other one’s who’s names I’m blanking on. So silvers really don’t outclass them in power AT ALL but the argument for them being stronger than gold is prolly true
About Zero. I don't think Shaman is a subclass of monk. He just combined two classes that had a good compatibility to create an unique level build. Like Being an archer and an assassin.
If going by pathfinder which is often refered to as a variation of D&D, Wisdom is the main mental stat for both Monks & Shamans. Though if we were to go for archtype options, Sebas possibly could be a scaled fist monk, which focus on charisma rather than wisdom. Interestingly the scaled fist also got dragon related powers. The archtype granting: bonuses to Intimidation, Elemental attacks, Dragon martial art style, bonuses vs sleep paralysis & fear and eventually gain a Draconic Breath attack.
True, Entoma is a shaman and I highly doubt she has monk levels. I think shaman is just a spiritual class that can be accessed by anyone with basic spiritual classes. How it affects the user probably depends on if they had a fighter or caster class

Sebas is one of my favorite characters thanks to the characteristics he take from my favorite character Touch me from his justice and the way he hesitates to do evil but yet he follows the orders of Ainz which sometimes makes me sad Thanx for the amount of likes and the replies
ah yes, a friend of justice, saving anyone and everyone innocent possible and combating evil just like every other 999 typical series out there very unique preference
So good and evil are a matter of perspective. If he was human, the actions would be evil. But as a heteromorph, especially from the game where humans raided and killed heteromorphs, humans are base 'evil' to them. In addition, their so elite most humans are insects so considering them even worthy of judging an action good or evil is below them. But Sebas, like Touch Me, are so good they always considered their actions and based their evaluations on an individual level rather then the widely held stereotype. But in the end, he's still a heteromorph and will do good first for heteromorphs which he believes is any order from Momonga, overriding most sensible 'good checks' for belief that he doesn't see the bigger picture which is very like how you are expected to work in the military. It's all a matter of perspective and why Momonga questioned his reported 'betrayal' and had him prove his loyalty, he understood his actions but the others wouldn't.
"There are only 41 others and perhaps a few more who are stronger than me." That sentence says everything. Out of respect, he says that he is weaker than the guild members, but it is quite realistic that there are plenty of strong npc's who can outplay the guild members. That places him at the very top of the power scale. Those may be his words, but since he is of so humble nature, you should have taken them into consideration.
Yeah he is pretty up there. It's especially evident when you consider that Ainz first sent out Sebas to scout and no one else when he first went to the new world. The 8th floor guys could probably beat him and given how nervous he was with Shalltear she probably could as well. But in general that still sticks him in the top 8 or so.
The "oid" suffix as in "dragonoid" does not imply being weaker, rather it generally means the same thing as "sensu lato" a common term in biology meaning "in a Loose sense" To explain this let's look at scarab beetles. Sensu stricto, this would be only those within the scarab family, but in the loose sense, scaraboids would include scarabs, but also trogids and geotrupids all of which are related to scarabs but are not scarabs. Look at, for example the term "humanoid" which includes all human like entities, but also humans. If someone were a dragonoid, they could be a dragon, or a Wyrem, wyvern, dragon born, pseudo dragon, or any of a wide range of dragon like entities including dragons.
HeyItzMeDawg I didn't consider astronomy as my background is in biology, but usually when we mean to say something is like something else but isn't that thing, we usually either use the prefix pseudo or ersatz which basically mean fake, so a psudodragon is like a dragon but is not a dragon, in DND it is a pretty weak dragon like creature. A pseudopod is a leglike structure (on an amoeba for instance) but which is not a full blown leg. I looked into planetoids by definition and yeah it seems like planets are not counted as planetoids, so fair point, but I think the typical use of the suffix in biology includes the truest member of the Clade and the members close to it within certain arbitrary boundaries. In DND and presumably Overlord we can often imagine that many uses of the suffix "oid" are not based on monophyletic clades for instance we might imagine that elves and dwarves while all being "humanoids" might have separate genesis and may not have evolved at all in the Darwinian sense making the grouping polyphyletic, but even still you don't make a group of "humanoids" which doesn't include humans.
Strict sense, yes. But real sense, dragons are most often set as the strongest beings by default. Any beings not a dragon, but similar, is thus by default weaker. A dragonoid, a being similar to a dragon, is thus a weaker being. If it wasn't, then it would earn itself the title of Dragon and just become another specie
I lean towards the shatterer opinion, but I've seen images that are supposedly for each dragon which are the exact same image just different colors. But I'm gonna go with shatterer being the original considering it reminds me of gw2 art and there's lightning involved.
I feel that little sub-title on his character card "Butler of Steel" might lend a bit more into what draconic-subspecies he might be than just flavor text. Knowing his creator Touch-Me was the "Paladin of Pure Silver" and was a kind heroic person despite being a heteromorphic character, would it be too far to speculate that perhaps his NPC was created with the blood of an 'Iron' or 'Silver' dragon in him? It'd make some sense seeing as you've mentioned the metallic dragons are aligned good and Sebas has proven he's leaning towards his master's ideals more than, say, Demiurge or Albedo who lean far towards the true evil-er side of the alignment scale. Man, having Sebas be something like that would be almost too fitting. Though its probably me reading too far into small details~
The silver in “paladin of pure silver” refers to the color alone and not the metal in touch me’s armor. Remember, it’s a reward he won after becoming one of the 9 world champions, the materials should be no less than prismatic ores, or probably better.
@@jegtano7079 In that case it would make even more sense because despite his human polymorph Sebas is obviously stronger than just simple 'Steel'. Of course, the most likely case is what you said and sub-title just refers to Sebas as a literal "strong as steel" butler expression. Which would fit his Monk style greatly. I choose to still hope, however, that *it just might be* the opposite and we might see a glorious Silver dragon unleashed to protect his master and Tuare! ^^
龍神 although same pronunciation as 龍人 means potentially completely different things. 神 is the kanji for god, or deity. While 人 means man, or human. So if Shalltear used the kanji 神 in the LN, then its highly possible that Sebas might be much more powerful, as 龍神 literally means Dragon God. Whereas 龍人 would mean Dragon man, or some type of demi human/dragon. Can someone confirm which kanji she used?
This is just speculation but I honestly doubt they would have created one of their highest and strongest characters as anything but Dragon god if that was possible simply because of the "cool factor". Let us be honest here. What sounds most badass? A half dragon half man that just so happen to maybe have a dad that was a dragon and have gotten a bit of their power..or a god damn fucking dragon god that just pretend to be a normal human being? Plus he is apparently able to defeat the best tank in their guild if he transforms..Ofcourse it is possible it is just part of the half dragon (or whatever) racial trait they have given him but if it is possible to have a full on dragon then I doubt touch-me wouldn't have made him that rather than just someone with some hidden potential he only pulls out now and again.
While 龍神 can be broken down to dragon kami; kami in Japanese don't really has a direct translation to god, or spirit. No one word expresses all the meaning of 神 it can mean demi-god, spirit, holy, emperor or God it is based on context. So even if shalltear used 龍神 she can still be referring to him as a mix breed dragonoid or a full on dragon god. Asian language is bloody vague sometimes.
As much as I enjoy the anime, your content makes me realize just how much they gut and cut from the lore and even the main storyline to make the anime. There is so much to work with and could stand miles above the other anime in the genre, but perhaps they condense it so much because of contracts and such.
Otaku Playz so as any level 100 npc and player from Yggdrasil. Heck, even a level 80 npc can trash an entire military nation singlehandedly. Specially with a holy elemental +20 queen of clubs.
Pretty much any Lv100 char is broken in the New World. For reference, the author has stated on his Twitter that the Deep Darkness Dragon Lord could beat any of the Floor Guardians except Shalltear, who happens to have a hard-counter build against him. The strongest of the Slane Godkin (Zesshi Zetsumi) has been confirmed there as "stronger than Lupusregina Beta", but then sweet, laughing Lupu-chan is only Lv50 - Lv60, and the highest level adventurer we've seen is Evileye, also at about Lv50. Essentially, even relatively low level Nazarick chars like the Battle Maids count as broken, and you can likely count the number beings in the entire New World capable of being more than a speed-bump to the Lv100s without taking your socks off
@@talltroll7092 I can imagine the final season of overlord will have Ainz fighting the dragon lord with Shalltear backing him up, just like he did back in Yggrisil. That will be a good fight

I know this has probably been brought up already, and it's almost been 2 years, but Zero was most likely a Totem Barbarian. He utilized specific spiritual totems in the form of his tattoos for specific enhancements.
During the training sequence with Climb, there was a showing of ice pillaring down the path of the back alley they were at. This could be a parallel to how Sebas's gave sent a 'chill' down his spine, I get the feeling it was Sebas's dragon element.
In martial art, especially in kungfu, there are 2 basic type of ki: inner ki and outer ki - Inner ki, meaning inner forces, is power come from within your body. That why inner ki practitioners usually have slender or thin even weak-looking build but their attacks are pack with force and can easily bypass your body attack directly at your organs, making their attacks very deadly. They can even kill you in 1 strike if they go after your heart or head. - Outer ki is completely opposite to inner ki, the power come directly from your body. Outer ki practitioners usually have a very muscular build. They are physically very strong and tough, meaning that they have high defense and high stamina. Their attacks are just purely brute force that can easily break your bone. And most of their ki is used to strengthen their body. - When compare 2 ki, you can see the inner ki practitioners focus more on powerful attack but their body is weaker and more vulnerable than an outer ki practitioner, having lower defense and less stamina. While an outer ki practitioner have stronger body but their attacks are not as deadly or devastating as an inner ki practitioner. In addition, their build also influence their speedy, an inner ki user is more agile than an outer one. - If someones is able to mastered both ki and manage to balance it, that person will be insanely strong. One of the best example of this is in the series “History strongest’s disciple Kenichi”. P.s: sorry for all the grammar mistakes in this comment
That could also be an animation effect to indicate furry. Like in Goblin Slayer where it be became something iconic to Goblin Slayer, and he isn't a dragonoid. Also, the anime skips over a lot of things, the budget is low and the attention giving to it is minimal. I don't think the animators would intent anything with it.

I liked Overlord so much that in my D&D game I run on Fridays, I used Ainz as inspiration for Arklem Greeth of Luskan. I even use Ainz's image for Greeth's token. As the campaign progressed, I gave up and dived down the rabbit hole - introducing Greeth's minions: "Sebastian Titus" and his wife "Tuare Titus," "Saea Bloodfall," and "Aedol." It makes finding images for MapTools tokens easy. Without going too much into the lengthy and complicated plot I've created from bending Faerun lore, Sebastian Titus & his wife Tuare were sent to the settlement the players established at the head of the Neverwinter River by Greeth for an unknown reason, giving them a chance to have him as an Advisor for their "Kingdom." However, the players (rightfully) don't trust Greeth/Ainz and refused to have an (unknowingly until recently) Juvenile Silver Dragon living in their settlement, let alone as an advisor. Man, I love Overlord. Best written villains ever.
@One’s Nirvonis the thing is, the 13 heroes actually fought against a Dragon God after they defeated the Demon God. And the 13 heroes, who're pretty much have 2 players from Yggdrasil in the team, literally got rekt by the Dragon God. It disappeared though after the Dragon God let them survive, but apparently they never uttered a word of what had happened to the Dragon God. So the Dragon God in the past might actually be as strong as Sebas since it bested 2 players from the 13 heroes.
@@Qopa do keep in mind that the yggdrasil players that came in were lower leveld based on the updates of the game. The Six Great Gods and Eight Greed Kings were players teleported into the world when updates occurred. Therefore Ainz and his crew are technically the strongest beings in this world. The highets power level is lvl 80 in this world and even then it's a few people. Overall the only edge any of the current world powers have over Ainz is the World Items. Even then Ainz and his crew have a whole vault. Overall we I think Ainz downfall will either be Albedo or Demiurge as he wants them all to become independent and those 2 are the ones with the least honor compared to Sebas and Cocytus.
@@avrgegmer1396 "the yggdrasil players that came in were lower leveld based on the updates of the game" Wait what?! Where was this mentioned? Did Maruyama reveal this in a Q&A or something?
@@BDL3035 True but in the Light Novels they only follow him for two reasons: Albedo was scripted to love him and in her capacity she interprets that in which ever way she sees love. She is willing to go after and kill any of the other Guild Members even though Ainz loves those Guild Members the most. She sets out on a mission to find them if they do exist but she actually made a hit squad so she can extinguish them and keep Ainz mind away from them and have him focus on her more. Demiurge is all about evil based on his description from his creator. Everything he does is underhanded and ill intentioned. He always thinks everything is a test and is actually smarter and more cunning than Ainz. It is his loyalty to Ainz that keeps him in check. Ainz is trying to give his NPCs freedom of choice. He wants them to behave like humans. He wants them to be independent. His NPCs only want to do one thing: Serve Ainz. If Ainz really pushes this independence thing, it might backfire because his NPCs dont know anything else but serving under Ainz. Doing so may damage or change their mentality. Overall Cocytus and Sebas and maybe Shalltear would be fine and loyal. Demiurge because of his nature and creation would literally be capable of playing the Devil part to Ainz is GodHood in a sense. Even Ainz fears Demiurge because he know Demi is capable of reasoning and strategy. Demiurge's downside is that while he is smart and cunning he still choses sadism and torture over practicality. For example he has the soldiers eat each other alive even though he could just have killed them, instead he uses the pretext of research to disguise his twisted pleasures.
Sebas cannot do anything with his fist against Albedo ( a tank), Albedo doesn't have strong weapons to beat Cocytus's large array of weapons but Sebas can take down Cocytus since his attacks are faster (hand-to-hand versus weapon swing)
According to the author Maruyama, Sebas' true form which is a Dragonoid was said to be stronger than Cocytus who had the highest attack power among Nazarick's warriors. Let alone Cocytus, Ainz suggested that Sebas' Dragonoid form can also overwhelm Albedo who is heavily specialized in defense. Between the three of them as warriors, Sebas' Dragonoid form was ranked by Ainz to be more powerful than either of those two in melee combat physically. In the Web Novel, Shalltear states that if Sebas transform into a Dragonoid and go all out on her, she believes that the two of them should be able to fight to the death. When in this form, Sebas will turn unreasonable despite being a monk. In the form of a Dragonoid, they are said to acquire superior magic damage reduction and other things relatively connected to magic invalidation.

Sebas Tian is a steel dragon. It makes sense because of his strong good alignment, gives him a final form, and explains his title the "Butler of Steel" as well as gives a good idea of his race levels. I believe his levels are likely 5-lesser dragon 10- dragon 5- elder dragon and 5- dragon lord or dragon warlord (for his combat style) Open to debate on the subject and would love your input @AniNews !!
francios dauteuil sorry but no. “Dragon” in Yggdrasil are non playable race. The steel in his tile is not something literal, but refers to the metaphorical “steel” referring to being unyielding, to never budge or back down from any obstacles or challenges. The steel will or iron will. Like when your asked “how strong is your steel?”, it doesn’t refer to how strong the body is but the strength of a person’s will. Besides, in Yggdrasil having a body of steel would be shitty for defense considering that there are prismatic ores.
Also I think rather than Dragonoid meaning Sebas is a lesser dragon it actually means he is a humanoid dragon. The reason for this is simple: why would you spec a character as a monk, i.e. hand-to-hand fighter, if his "original" or "final" form is not humanoid? It really wouldn't make sense. So I'm fairly confident Sebas' final form is a humanoid dragon of some sort. Unless of course the build literally doesn't matter once he transforms...... Then again if his final form is as OP as the video says, it wouldn't make sense for him to _just_ be a lesser dragon in any case. He'd better be a true dragon. Well, at least he'd easily be as much of a real dragon as the New World has in it.
Even as lesser dragon, the highest yet dragon met in the series is 46 level, while Sebas is a 100. This makes so much sense, he is way stronger. Final form could neglect all his job classes and transform em to simillar but dragon-type (I would refer to Shyvana from League of Legends). But the requirement for this form could be anything (from X amount of rage to cost HP or even be at lower HP) - as the video stated.
@@ds22342 not confirm but gi em the fact that he is said to be weaker than old DL who needed 10 to fight 1 player (1 Greed king) then he is most like not level 100.

To be fair dragons aren't exactly wrong. "Always be yourself. Unless you can be a dragon; then always be a dragon."
_"Like Being an archer and an assassin."_
archer + assassin = sniper :)
True, Entoma is a shaman and I highly doubt she has monk levels. I think shaman is just a spiritual class that can be accessed by anyone with basic spiritual classes. How it affects the user probably depends on if they had a fighter or caster class
it could be i subclass of monk in D&D 3.5 the was a prestige class called Tattooed Monk that gave different powers based off the tattoos in question

ah yes, a friend of justice, saving anyone and everyone innocent possible and combating evil
just like every other 999 typical series out there
very unique preference
@@uwaa4467 difference is this one is forced to do evil? And sebas seems much more complex then day... all might or something.

That sentence says everything. Out of respect, he says that he is weaker than the guild members, but it is quite realistic that there are plenty of strong npc's who can outplay the guild members. That places him at the very top of the power scale.
Those may be his words, but since he is of so humble nature, you should have taken them into consideration.
MightKeeper in a straight out head to head fight, yes.
Yeah he is pretty up there. It's especially evident when you consider that Ainz first sent out Sebas to scout and no one else when he first went to the new world. The "oid" suffix as in "dragonoid" does not imply being weaker, rather it generally means the same thing as "sensu lato" a common term in biology meaning "in a Loose sense"
To explain this let's look at scarab beetles.
Reading this made me just realize vocaloid literally means vocals in a loose sense
Shiiiiit the more you know
It does imply being weaker or lesser.
Strictly speaking it means "like" but it is also routinely used to mean lesser than, e.g. Planetoid.

Yup
No I think you might be on to something
That's a good point
This makes alot of sense and is simpler to explain
When it is confirmed, please notify me too
Was just about to comment the same thing.

In martial art, especially in kungfu, there are 2 basic type of ki: inner ki and outer ki
- Inner ki, meaning inner forces, is power come from within your body.

Very cool!! Thanks for the episode!
Ryujin mean “dragon god” especially with the kanji shown
@One’s Nirvonis the thing is, the 13 heroes actually fought against a Dragon God after they defeated the Demon God.
@@avrgegmer1396 "the yggdrasil players that came in were lower leveld based on the updates of the game"
Wait what?! Where was this mentioned? Did Maruyama reveal this in a Q&A or something?
@@avrgegmer1396 Also, Albedo and Demiurge have honor, but in their own ways. Their loyalty to Ainz is absolute and unwavering

NANI!!!
Just went 4 days without WiFi and this is the first video I see
I just love hearing people talk about Sebas :)
He casually stated in a chapter ( Sebas ) that "maybe" there are only 41 stronger than him ( Same number of guild members )... Yeah... hes is strong.
he said only 41 are stronger than him and maybe few others more.
@@capdanyjones true, but you know how humble is Sebas tian, that's why I quoted " maybe ". I am sure he is stronger than at least 30 of the guild members. Rubedo strength is almost cheating...
Well the author already confirmed Shalltear and Mare are stronger than him. He’s stronger than the rest in his true form apparently.
@@xavierlucky397 shalltear is the most powerful npc in the anime so thats rather obvious
When the DND class list started scrolling i started laughing really hard.....it does have a lot of archetypes and sub-classes especially taking into account fan-made ones >.
@@jegtano7079 Dragons are a nonplayable race, yes, but that only applies to Players. NPCs, custom or otherwise, can be Dragons.
I thought the same thing. I hope we find out.
@@jegtano7079 Since Sebas isn't a player, the dragon race is accessible to him.
that Legend of Dragoon 7 Winged dragon morph scene brought back the feels from that game
why are you so underrated even tho there is so many people watches anime, is it because people only enjoy anime but not the theory and explanations?
I see that League of Legends dragon signs. 1:05
Well, at least he'd easily be as much of a real dragon as the New World has in it.
similar to pandora's actor
You do know that his final form could just be a humanoid dragon similar to the dragons in Fairy Tail right ?
Even as lesser dragon, the highest yet dragon met in the series is 46 level, while Sebas is a 100.
This makes so much sense, he is way stronger.
Final form could neglect all his job classes and transform em to simillar but dragon-type (I would refer to Shyvana from League of Legends). But the requirement for this form could be anything (from X amount of rage to cost HP or even be at lower HP) - as the video stated.
@@Defi4nc3s1 Isn't Platinum Dragon Lord is lvl100?
@@ds22342 not confirm but gi em the fact that he is said to be weaker than old DL who needed 10 to fight 1 player (1 Greed king) then he is most like not level 100.
If one of the maids is called the queen of the wolves or something like that when she in the lv 60s I highly doubt that a level floor guardian like him level 100 it's not a dragon king due to the fact of the way they set up their MPC's I truly do believe he is a dragon king serving Ainz
