    Always throw some silicone into the hole before setting your anchor to prevent moisture penetration into the wall.

      @@MrPoosarlasrinivasAny outside silicone will work. I’ve always used DAP products with success but I’m sure someone will tell me it’s junk and why. 😉 For a project this small you can use the squeeze tube ones if you don’t have a caulk gun.

    It looks like you just picked a spot without finding studs. From the Eley website:
    "Yes, The ELEY 1041 wall mount garden hose reel can be mounted to stucco. However, it is extremely important that the reel is anchored into a solid surface behind the stucco finish. The reel must be anchored into the wall studs and may require longer lag screws than provided. If there is masonry behind the stucco finish you will use the sleeve anchors or a masonry anchor. If you are not confident in your ability to locate the studs we recommend you consider the post mount, cart, or free-standing hose reel. If you attempt to mount the hose reel to a stucco finish without locating the studs the reel will more than likely fall off causing damage to the reel and your stucco finish."

      It depends on your application. I should have maybe more clearly explained my situation. This house is concrete block with a stucco finish. Therefore the anchors are in the concrete cinder blocks.

    Thanks. If I want to hang something about 8lbs with 4 screws on a stucco column on my outdoor patio, where I think it’s wood behind the stucco (because gutter downspout brackets are in it with pretty deep screws, would I use those plugs you used, or use a wood tapping screw to tap the plywood behind the stucco?
    If my wood screw is 3/16” width, is it ok to drill hole in stucco and wood behind it of only 1/8” and then screw screws in, or might that crack the stucco bc 3/16” is greater than 1/8th?
    Would I drill with a carbide bit and then a wood bit once through the stucco? Thanks.

    • @CliffsHowTo
      @CliffsHowTo  10 місяців тому

      In your case, I would probably go with something that would grab the wood, like a wood screw. Just use a masonry bit to get through the stucco, then wood bit.
      Make sure to use some silicone to seal around the hole though, so there’s no seepage into the wood!

    OMG! I'm looking up how to hang stuff up in stucco for this EXACT SAME hose holder!!! 😆
    Thanks for this video! Out of curiosity, have you ever tried drilling into stucco and felt like you were hitting the "chicken wire" behind it (or maybe some other malleable metal material), and it was preventing you from penetrating all the way through the stucco wall? -If so, any advise?

    • @CliffsHowTo
      @CliffsHowTo  Рік тому

      So, stucco is a finish, not a structure. There could be a wood frame, as opposed to block under the stucco. If there is, that’s where the wire comes in. The wire is used as a substrate to hold the stucco to the wall.
      If that’s the case, which it sounds like it is for you, you want to make sure you’re hitting at least one stud behind there.

    • @CliffsHowTo
