Not going to lie, a road trip with a bunch of musical fans all singing along to cast albums sounds like my kind of trip

I live in Connecticut and I felt so bad for you, sitting in that nightmare traffic! It's why I never drive into the city, I always take the train to Grand Central - it's an easy walk or shuttle to the Theater District. Shoreline traffic is a headache, but the Goodspeed is a lovely venue and should not be missed! Btw, it's sits on the Connecticut River. I saw Oklahoma there pre-Covid. Like many of the Broadway theaters, you really feel the history of the place. I hope you find your way back to our state again. It's a beautiful place and I promise it's not usually this wet! We've had record rainfall this year.

I'm a Connecticut local so I've been to Goodspeed a few times. My favorite experience there was during the intermission of Emmett Otter. It's such a sweet show that everyone had a smile on their face.

Loved the roadtrip! I know I’m a little late catching up on my MJT… Someone maybe already mentioned this, but I can’t help myself. When you first noticed the Pepsi sign, the most obvious theater reference was missed; you drove right by the sign showing the exit for 42nd St! And one more (albeit a little stretch), when you drove over the bridge in Connecticut, you drove over a Big River! Ok, that’s it for me 😃

I grew up in Ct. and this theatre and the ones in New Haven are the reasons why I have worked in theatre over 40 years now. Kathrine Hepburn Had a home near the Goodspeed and we would often drive around the area on a scavenger hunt for Katherine Hepburn's house.

I live in Connecticut and saw The 12 for my birthday because I’m obsessed with Westley Taylor. My family and I felt the same es you felt about the show. It was so strange to see my state and places I know really well in a UK theatre content creator’s vlog. I KNEW when you mentioned in passing that you were going to go to a new state to see theatre that you’d be seeing The 12! I’m so glad that you came to my state and had a lovely time. Sorry about the traffic….there is ALWAYS traffic coming from NYC.

Connecticut is my home state so this is so much fun to see! Traffic getting there is absolutely terrible and terrible in state in general. I can't tell you how happy I am that Delta flys directly in to Connecticut now instead of having to fly in to NYC and then drive 3+ hours. Anyway, I hope you had the best time!

I'm from Connecticut and saw The 12 a couple weeks ago! I really enjoyed it. How cool that you came! The Goodspeed is really a credit to our state, but the traffic is very, very real.

What remaining videos can we expect from your recent visit to Broadway?

I never comment, but I just need people to know, If you take the train from the city to Old Saybrook, you should PRE SCHEDULE an uber for before and after your show. East Haddam is about 20 minutes away from the train and the taxi company sometimes will not pick you up. Also the lady in the gift shop's name is Linda and we love her! Glad you enjoyed your time at Goodspeed and CT!

I love you are learning about how bad our traffic can be here. This was a freaking blast to watch your commentary on everything so if you need a ride around FL when visiting I'd be happy to help. (Tampa is only around an hour from Orlando on a good day lol) Honestly though truly thrilled you've been able to expand outside Broadway proper when visiting to regional to get a taste of everything available to do.

Welcome to Connecticut! You passed within a few miles of me. I-95 is always a nightmare. I avoid it at all costs. Love the Goodspeed Opera House! I saw Emmett Otter there a number of years ago. Paul Williams, who wrote the music, was a couple a rows in front of me. Delightful show. Ate at the Gelston House. Also, did a murder mystery cruise on a riverboat from there. That's the Connecticut River.

I'm another CT resident - and have been a season subscriber to Goodspeed for the past 20+ years. (Besides Annie, Man of LaMancha and Shenandoah originated there - as well as the latest production of Pippin that was on Broadway a couple of years ago.) 🤣"cute little thing here" - in America we call it a bridge 🥴 I wish I had known you were going to be there - we would have have loved to meet you! Oh - traffic is always - ALWAYS - dreadful on I-95 from the city to the exit to Goodspeed...you can't outguess it!

I live in Connecticut and we have several great theaters (Goodspeed, Westport Country Playhouse, Shubert New Haven & Bushnell in Hartford being just some of them). Unfortunately as soon as I saw the picture of Goodspeed in the thumbnail image I knew that you were in for a horrible mess of traffic at that time of day. I saw '42nd St' at Goodspeed a few months ago, and then last month saw the new musical 'Private Jones' at the Terris Theater (which is Goodspeed's developmental theater space). Regional theater is so important, thank you for highlighting it!

Musical which includes pumping gas: Pump Boys and Dinettes. I never saw it, but it ran in my home city of Chicago for many years, after a Broadway run of over 500 performances. There was a short West End run also.

I like Connecticut's rest stops. We don't have rest stops like that on the west coast with bathrooms, a subway /Dunkin Donits, and convenient store.
OMG I just realized I almost said a line from the Broadway version of chess. However, the line wasn't about rest stops but having a Burger King abd McDonald's.
My sister lives in Chelmsford and we often make Broadway trips when I go to visit her family on the east coast. And somewhere in tge middle, you're bound to run into traffic. Since my parents don't like to stay st hotels, we'll usually arrive back at my sister's around 3 A.M. after seeing a show. We usually get some pizza pn our way out. And there's the joyful part of having yo wait 30 minutes for the ICON parking attendant to retrieve your car, sometines 45 minutes.

I live in NYC but have a house in CT and I only drive up there really early in the morning or really late at night, the traffic is horrible, especially on Interstate 95 which seems to be the route you took. I love going to Goodspeed to see their new musicals and musical revivals, and I generally make an overnight trip out if it, staying with my sister who lives near New London, CT not that far away. Love your vlog!

I've always wanted to go to Goodspeed Opera House. This video convinced me that the best way to get there is by railroad. lol The Twelve sounds like an interesting concept, though just from your description, it sounds a bit under-developed. Still, looking forward to reading more about it.

It's unfortunate thats religious musicals dont do super well on Broadway, unless you're Andrew Lloyd Webber and can take a universal approach to subjective material -- like an impression.
For example, why Stephen Schwartz did well as a hippie religious musical for its time, Children of Eden may not be everyone's cup of tea, since it seems targeted at peopleceho like religious stories and children's plays. Although Children of Eden is far from a Children's Play and has some great music like Lost in The Wilderness, mich of it is told through or sung narration. The rare OLC cd captures most of the poppy songs, snd i live that album. However, the American Premiere 2CD has lots of that sung narration.
While Wicked and Godspell are Stephen Schwartz triumphs, Children of Eden is sort of a lost gem.

FYI: Cole Porter was born in Peru, Indiana on June 9, 1891. As a boy he took lessons in piano and violin, and began writing songs while in prep school. He attended Yale College (Class of 1913), where he composed fight songs that are still used today.
