I dived this ship a week or so after it sank. It was laying on its side then, the hull was white and the cracks in the butt jointed plates were 3/4" running from the keel to the suppers. I took a rest and sat with my legs dangling over the side of the hull for a few moments, had been to sea bed and was feeling a little 'narked,' there was a slight currant running for we were just coming up to slack, even though with it great bulk I could feel the ship bumming beneath me. Wire was everywhere, there was a land-rover sitting on the bottom as if it had just parked up, containers were twisted with doors open wide, one was full of what looked like trans axle units for tractors, another had Tyres, vacuumed packed engine in a jumble? it just the pressure pushing hard on the plastic bags they were in were in. I swam though what looked like a canteen, there were load of those melamine self service trays everywhere. The Bridge was full of the usual modern equipment, I was disappointed, no brass! and it was all painted green, god know what was the colour in reality, as most true colours disappear after only a few feet of water as we know. What a change since I dived The Aeolian Sky it must have been swept or blasted.. Our skipper was a chap called Tarps and his boat Sea Raider out of Weymouth, we used him many time over the years until he put a Hiab on the back which leaked oil… Oh happy days diving Dorset.
Fantastic Video.
