I wonder how they would feel if someone else had been employed to run the Captain Tom Foundation and had then taken 89% of the appearance money for themselves? Absolutely disgraceful. This is no different to a tradsman working for a company but taking the customer's money for themself. The charity commission have to make them pay that £16K back. No wonder they're getting abuse!

How very coincidental that they were all stumped for what to say & furious around the 52/53 minute mark and demanded that the interview be stopped. Then the cameras start rolling again and they’ve got all the answers. They obviously went off, got their stories straight and suddenly they’re all singing from the same hymn sheet. Despicable that their go to answer is ‘that was Tom’s wishes, not ours’ because nobody can verify that because Tom is brown bread

Just to add something positive to this story.
I know someone in the NHS who desperately needed some funds to buy an ultrasound machine. She applied to her Trust, and received the money directly from the charible funds raised by Sir Captain Tom. Having this machine has allowed her to help hundreds of people be cared for at home, rather than stay in hospital. This in turn has saved upwards of a million pounds.
I don't for one moment believe the version of events from the famiy. BUT...Sir Captain Tom did raise huge amounts of money, and some of it has defiitely reached the types of people he intended.

My understanding of this whole saga is that Captain Tom's daughter had a career in marketing, she had a marketing hat on from day one when she got the local paper involved in her father's walk. I am sure she loved how quickly it took off and her brain would have been on overdrive finding opportunities to get as much out of it as possible. I just have a problem when she says 'she has to work'... they live in a Grade II listed building and have half a million in the bank from Club Nook, she may have had to work before the walk, but how she can say that now just makes my stomach churn. I'm afraid Hannah has shame set in her face, but their is also a defiance that the ill-gotten gains are hers, she worked for them and she will keep them. This interview was as uncomfortable as Prince Andrew's, I am sure they will regret doing it because it did nothing to salvage their reputations.

This is no surprise to honest people from humble backgrounds with integrity in the UK. They're obviously taking advantage of their situation, as many people of their social status do but at least they did help raise millions for charity. Let's concentrate on the likes of Boris Johnson, the Sunak family, the Murdocks, Michelle Mone and others who scammed the country for millions with the PPE contracts and the likes. Go and interview them Piers. This is everyday upper middle class small fry behaviour, they're all at it and it's no surprise. It's not acceptable but you're not running the Nuremberg Trials and those two young grandchildren should not be part of this interview, it's not right and is a danger to their mental heath. Despite what they've done, they looked after their old relative in their own home instead of putting him in a home. They should be applauded for that. To have a 14 year old in the interview is shocking. From day one I felt this women was controlling off her father and she loved the media attention. It to me felt like conceive control over her father. No way did they put this spa in for the elderly as I can’t see them wanting people in their house. Even at his funeral both off his daughters sat on different sides it like she didn’t want to know the orher daughter . Her whole family took over the funeral as well. His first daughter from his first marriage from day one has stayed out off media she hasn’t been seen to be doing interviews like this women has. Mi wonder what his first daughter Lucy think off all this having her fathers named tarnished. I think she should give a interview on this women. I bet she and her family didn’t get a penny after her dad died . It just shows his first daughter had more respect for her dad then this family has. To stop the interview half way they knew the questions piers was asking was going to reveal more secrets . I wonder what more is this family hiding that we don’t know about . Any normal family out there who had even put up a shed or something in gardens with out permission the council make them take it down or they threaten you with legal action. There should be no special rules for this women and if she refuses to take it down then u think council should just go in and do it them selves. They should also be made to pay back anyone who brought the books or donated to the charity.

@1972dsrai Because that is how it is when you are a trustee or executor.
You make a promise to oversee the affairs of a foundation or estate, and if that requires incurring some expenses along the way, (say, travel to meet with lawyers) you ante up for those costs and get reimbursed for them after.
Nobody knows exactly what might be required so you can't bill in advance and write yourself a blank cheque.
And being a trustee or executor is a _duty,_ and it is never convenient or easy.
I know of no one who thought it was an easy, pleasant experience.
It is a final service for the person done out of love and obligation, not thoughts of personal gain. Hopefully.
