This is UNBELIEVABLE. CEO of a charity turns up to an awards ceremony in the name of the charity, and pockets £18k of the fee and only £2k to the charity? UNBELIEVABLE.
I wonder how they would feel if someone else had been employed to run the Captain Tom Foundation and had then taken 89% of the appearance money for themselves? Absolutely disgraceful. This is no different to a tradsman working for a company but taking the customer's money for themself. The charity commission have to make them pay that £16K back. No wonder they're getting abuse!
I had a gut feeling of not trusting his daughter the first time I saw her, And I'm sorry to say it is still there after watching this interview, There is no truth at all and you can see it in all thier eyes.
My gut instinct was exactly the same. She was always by his side prompting his awnsers and speaking for him. I called this from the first good morning interview and my gut has never let me down.
It’s one of the greatest scams ever .Tom only walked around the garden the the people fired all the ££money.only hero’s were the hospital workers and they got a clap during covid .toms lot got fortunes and now the hospital workers can’t get a fair wage
A friend of mine was a CEO of a charity . She was being paid by the charity ,She had to go charity events, that’s part of her job role , she didn’t say oh by the way I want £16000 for appearing at this event . This was car crash Tv
Whether you like or hate Piers Morgan, you have to agree that he can go on attack when needed and he can also be sensitive when needed. He handled this interview very well.
@@TheFreemanuk They (the family) didn't pay him. They agreed to clear their name, the tape gets sold to you, Piers gets his salary + bonus and the big boss makes most of the money.
Mr Morgan by letting the family speak they dig the hole deeper and deeper. It is a very good interview in all honesty. A decent man let down by his family he raised £30,000,000 plus that did go directly to the NHS.
I had a gut instinct from the beginning that she was using her dad to make a fortune. She used to prompt her Dad and awnser for him. She proved that my gut instincts still work and to the person above who is saying they built the pool for patients is being naive. You don't build a pool for the public on your private property, when you have millions to build it in a separate building.
Piers is furious inside, and huge respect goes out to him for being able to contain that anger…. Because i can almost garuntee that 99% of the people from the UK couldn’t resit that.
Hated a 100 year old man?! No-one did! She's purposefully conflating the hate she's received for her and her husband's actions with her father to elicit sympathy because her father still has goodwill. Even now, she's using her father. These truly are awful people.
Yes. I would also question the apparent letter to the daughter and the email. Surely the police should have those as part of a police report? The fact that she could say the words “my father was hated” is vile
So irresponsible & selfish to have included their 14 year old daughter in the interview. In my opinion the parents thought that including the children would make people feel sorry for them. The daughter was clearly coached as at 18:26 her father is mouthing the words as they come out of her mouth....
The part where Hannah says "hindsight is a wonderful thing" made me roll my eyes. It's nothing to do with hindsight! I started watching this interview really wanting to believe them. The more they spoke (especially Hannah), the more I felt in my gut stomach "yeah right!"
They had their own business and also had the right to be paid for their services to the charity. Do you know charity Barnados EtAl takes between 60-80% of donations for‘administrative fees’. It’s hard work running a charity. Do you expect them to work for free? Would you work for free?
Tom would not want his family to suffer the abuse that has been put on his family. They are a good giving family. Cpt Tom didn't ask for donations, the public did all that.
I agree it is a very good interview. He let them talk themselves into telling the facts. In my personal opinion, watch the mother and father's facial and body language, That says alot to , but everybody sees something differently
That includes Morgan.. lied all through the Common colds cousin outbreak. spewing nonsense and misinformation... Telling people to take a medical experiment... spewing propaganda.. his excuse he didn't know.. some journalists that is.. very dishonest creature
The end result, from their own words, is, either, Captain Tom was a scoundrel, or, they are . I'm hoping for the latter but the more they protest, I'm edging towards all.
Middle class, fortunate family exploiting their elderly father for pure greed under the umbrella of a ‘foundation’ so they could grease their own palms. Nothing more really needs to be said. With greed, no matter how much you have, it’s never enough.
They were loving the interview for the first half, and thinking Piers was giving them an easy ride. It started to unravel in the second half. Their reluctance to say they would get rid of the pool became more uncomfortable the more Piers pushed them. Ending in swearing and refusing to continue. I'm sure they loved Captain Sir Tom, but I get the feeling (though I don't know) that they have raked it in personally and don't like being questioned about it in such forensic detail. Good interview.
Entitlement and still think they have done no wrong. 85k job no training then getting 18k for a few hours work and gave 2k to charity. They are a perfect match i dont know whos worse between the 2 of them. I felt for the kids seeing their parents for exactly what they are and when they stopped the interview as knew they couldnt deny they had profited yet another 800k at least. I wander how much the husband charged for his accounting services working for the charity
I remember watching an interview of captain tom, an every time the interviewer would ask a question to tom his daughter would try to answer an the interviewer told her let tom answer, that said it all to me, it gave the impression that she was controlling him
As someone who lives in the village, my favourite part (apart from figuring out when I get invited to the pool) is that they talked about 'everything they've done for the community'; I'm scratching my head to think of a single thing they've done for Marston Moretaine of note either before or after, apart from leaving a stain.
@@DISCORAMSAY That’s a great idea! The whole thing about their plan being for local old people to use it was their real Prince Andrew moment. An interview they thought would rescue them has gone horribly wrong.
As soon as the money starting rolling in, she and her husband thought all their christmases had come at once. Absolutely appalling people who took advantage of their father’s fame!
Sadly the whole family comes across as guilty, arrogant and entitled. Sad thinking of us all being motivated to send in our donations and it ends like this. Good interviewing by PM. They are their own worst enemies and I am at a loss to understand how any number of spa pools or free holidays could be worth this public humiliation.
@@dal6984 Same here for similar reasons. She and her husband came across as opportunists, prepared to line their own pockets with a certain amount of self-aggrandisement thrown in for good measure.
Piers Morgan confronts people that are lying to the public Military family no less and consistently discusses his brothers position in the forces to anyone that will listen and his patriotism and duty to queen and country. Anyone remember when piers was the mirror editor and he front paged the fake photos with story on his beloved queens Lancashire regiment? Quote from the QLR - “Mr Morgan has sullied the name of the queens regiment”.
@@radusguru2196 Yes. And he conducted himself so well in this interview. Sharp but not interrupting. He was on target and he knew it, played a cool hand. 🌱
Sadly I don’t think you’re getting the irony of Piers Morgan explaining distrust, manipulation, decent and just outright lies to the public particularly with the military

I have never seen a family that could stoop so low the lies and misdirection are astounding what a terrible example they are setting for their children.

How very coincidental that they were all stumped for what to say & furious around the 52/53 minute mark and demanded that the interview be stopped. Then the cameras start rolling again and they’ve got all the answers. They obviously went off, got their stories straight and suddenly they’re all singing from the same hymn sheet. Despicable that their go to answer is ‘that was Tom’s wishes, not ours’ because nobody can verify that because Tom is brown bread
Captain Tom was a source of light and hope during the darkness that was the Covid pandemic and lockdown. It was incredibly uplifting for me personally and helped me get through this period. The greedy actions of his offspring has spoiled and tarnished his beautiful legacy...
Take some comfort from the fact that money DID reach the NHS, and oaid for much needed equipment. I know this from persinal experience. THAT is his legacy, not this grubby fumbling interview.
He only walked around the garden.the hero’s were the ones that donated the money and the nurses .you were putting the credit in the wrong place .a fraud
@@colmmcdonnell6256 agreed. There were already NHS charities that people could have donated to, but it took an elderly gentleman dragging his walking frame up and down his garden for anyone to be gaslit into parting with their cash.

She monetized the old boy and conned kind hearted people. Cashcow. All the attempts to embellish and gloss over the greed simply does not wash.Fingers in the cookie jar.
I’m not necessarily a Piers fan but I have to say this was one of the most fascinating, unflinching and uncompromising pieces of TV I have seen in years. He absolutely nailed every single point and angle and despite the fact that I suspect the family put their poor children up for the interview to curry some favour/sympathy, Piers pursued every point perfectly regardless. Hats off, basically. And RE: that despicable family, there are no words. No idea at all why they agreed to do the interview given they are clearly guilty of extreme greed (at best) and at worst potentially multiple fraud.
Just to add something positive to this story. I know someone in the NHS who desperately needed some funds to buy an ultrasound machine. She applied to her Trust, and received the money directly from the charible funds raised by Sir Captain Tom. Having this machine has allowed her to help hundreds of people be cared for at home, rather than stay in hospital. This in turn has saved upwards of a million pounds. I don't for one moment believe the version of events from the famiy. BUT...Sir Captain Tom did raise huge amounts of money, and some of it has defiitely reached the types of people he intended.
Really glad to hear about this, the problem is that most people who donated just want to know the money went where it was supposed to, in all parts of the UK NHS
I also know a chap that won while gambling in the bookies .but the bookmaker still won at the end of the day .that’s because everyone else threw thier ££££in . So Toms plan was the percentage call that if 39 million gets donated then no harm if his family (live a little)his daughter has done ok
Danjames… let’s have it right, Captain Tom didn’t contribute this money, the general public did, in the meantime his family absolutely enriched themselves from people buying books and merchandise in the belief it was all going to a good cause. The family can come out with all their semantics but they have conned the public for millions.
I started listening completely impartial and genuinely wanted to believe them. I’m genuinely sad to say I do not believe a word they said. Both extremely deceptive and clearly greedy people. I feel sorry for their children who have been dragged into this mess. They should pay every penny back, the building should be demolished and the foundation closed down. If they have as many successful businesses as they claim they will manage just fine. Captain Tom would be as shamed. RIP Captain Tom
My understanding of this whole saga is that Captain Tom's daughter had a career in marketing, she had a marketing hat on from day one when she got the local paper involved in her father's walk. I am sure she loved how quickly it took off and her brain would have been on overdrive finding opportunities to get as much out of it as possible. I just have a problem when she says 'she has to work'... they live in a Grade II listed building and have half a million in the bank from Club Nook, she may have had to work before the walk, but how she can say that now just makes my stomach churn. I'm afraid Hannah has shame set in her face, but their is also a defiance that the ill-gotten gains are hers, she worked for them and she will keep them. This interview was as uncomfortable as Prince Andrew's, I am sure they will regret doing it because it did nothing to salvage their reputations.
I agree I didn't like her since the start she was always wanting the fame and in the interviews always talked over her dad. I don't understand how they can try and say the books profits were not going to charity when it is written in the books and it is the only reason most people bought them. How they stopped the interview as it was not going their way as I assumed they thought he would go easy on them as they have met and talked a lot before just shows how self-centered they are. She didn't do the news night interview as she knew they would be brutal.
The fact she has admitted to gaining money shows she has been rumbled. She let people think the books sales were for charity and said nothing to the contrary. The books wouldn't have made 800 000 grand if people knew it wasn't for charity and was only lining their pockets. A while back she was accused of using the charity funds for her business. Greed.
Dodgy and immoral, oh yes but much less heinous than the behaviour of most politicians or people of such privileged heritage. This is no surprise to honest people from humble backgrounds with integrity in the UK. They're obviously taking advantage of their situation, as many people of their social status do but at least they did help raise millions for charity. Let's concentrate on the likes of Boris Johnson, the Sunak family, the Murdocks, Michelle Mone and others who scammed the country for millions with the PPE contracts and the likes. Go and interview them Piers. This is everyday upper middle class small fry behaviour, they're all at it and it's no surprise. It's not acceptable but you're not running the Nuremberg Trials and those two young grandchildren should not be part of this interview, it's not right and is a danger to their mental heath. Despite what they've done, they looked after their old relative in their own home instead of putting him in a home. They should be applauded for that. Piers, is going too far and is not whiter than white himself by any means. I'm so looking forward to the Michelle Mone missing £29000000 special!
She's talking though like she's a victim of something really bad. She even sounds like she became convinced she's equally as important as captain Tom. She's definitely controlling.
You can see the guilt on all their faces. It seems they sat down before this interview and rehearsed the answers bet they told the kids what to say. To have a 14 year old in the interview is shocking. From day one I felt this women was controlling off her father and she loved the media attention. It to me felt like conceive control over her father. No way did they put this spa in for the elderly as I can’t see them wanting people in their house. Even at his funeral both off his daughters sat on different sides it like she didn’t want to know the orher daughter . Her whole family took over the funeral as well. His first daughter from his first marriage from day one has stayed out off media she hasn’t been seen to be doing interviews like this women has. Mi wonder what his first daughter Lucy think off all this having her fathers named tarnished. I think she should give a interview on this women. I bet she and her family didn’t get a penny after her dad died . It just shows his first daughter had more respect for her dad then this family has. To stop the interview half way they knew the questions piers was asking was going to reveal more secrets . I wonder what more is this family hiding that we don’t know about . Any normal family out there who had even put up a shed or something in gardens with out permission the council make them take it down or they threaten you with legal action. There should be no special rules for this women and if she refuses to take it down then u think council should just go in and do it them selves. They should also be made to pay back anyone who brought the books or donated to the charity.
“The prologue of Sir Tom's book says it is a “chance to raise even more money for the charitable foundation now established in my name”…..so HE thought the proceeds of the book would go to his foundation - but the family took it!
She tells about what a fantastic businesswoman she is in her own right, he's a chartered accountant, yet using the charities name for their fancy spa and surrounding building was an oversight they weren't aware of in the planning application THEY made. Would the book money they kept be anywhere near as much as it was if it hadn't been linked to the charity? No shame whatsoever!
I just can’t understand why someone with her supposed professional experience, particularly in areas such as procurement and PR (if I remember correctly ) is unaware of so many professional procedures, and of how things look. Something does not add up.
Unbelievable that Piers repeatedly gave them an opening to say they would get rid of the spa but not one of them said "yes" of course they selfishly don't want to get rid of it!!
The fact that they don't want to get rid of the spa is very telling. Also, just because others are saying a salary should be X does not mean that you have to accept X. You can still take the position and do it for no salary at all. Her saying that she put the charity on the map is nonsense, it was already well-known by everybody! The 800k bit made them looked bad, really, really, bad.
Essentially a Spa is just an oversized Bath. To think they are willing to Slur there name further over a Big Bath is just bizarre. Capt Tom himself, I like think he'd disown them if he were still alive.
@random6809 I know. The salary bit was confusing. Apparently the woman is a business woman but she portrayed herself as clueless yet fully qualified to take an executive position. Huh?
There wouldn't have been much to do for her £85K. She would have been advised by accountants, trustees and applicants. I suppose she could have spent the downtime in the spa. At £85K she was very poor value.
Well if I bought something with Sir Toms name on it, I would've thought the profit was going to charity. If I knew it was a private company set up by his relatives I would not buy it. Simple as.
Like him if loathe him, piers is a master of his craft when conducting these big interviews! His balance of respect, manners, fearlessness of asking the pointed questions and giving his brutally honest opinion… I wouldn’t want to sit opposite him if there was any shred of doubt over my affairs! Not a chance! He did an amazing job here 🎉
hes sometimes ok if hes calm and got his ego under control. When hes angry all he is is someone who doesnt want to listen to anyone and wants to humiliate them. Its annoying also how he decides whats right and wrong before the interview and is not open to new directions.
@@standardtuning4guitars423 I agree with you 100%. He can have a valid point but be so irritating in how he expresses it. I just think with these big interviews, he nails it 👍🏼

Shame you involved your children in the interview, absolutely inexcusable. You've now put them in the public eye and, in my opinion at a real danger to their wellbeing in terms of trolling and psychological abuse on and offline. I hope they come out of this unscathed but you should have shielded them from this with all your parental instincts. I feel sorry for them
So many examples of opportunistic, greedy decisions, when the money should’ve gone to the charity in her father’s name. She’s totally corrupted by money and now everyone knows it.
if you love someone and admire what they have done..you surely honour that with honesty when it comes to anything they did for charity you dont use what was raised in the name of charity for your wages etc...it should be handed over freely for love of that person. im sorry to say i dont see any reason to believe any of their excuses. because to me they were just excuses.
@@loonylinda I totally agree. Executors and financial managers of charities are fairly compensated for their duties. You agree to do it to honour the person. Dipping back into the cookie jar after you've already taken one for each hand is just plain greedy.
After watching this interview and constantly reversing parts, I honestly keeping an open mind. After what I have heard this family’s finances, wealth and incomes on in the back of Sir Toms heroic efforts during the pandemic should be fully investigated by the authorities.
The greed from this family is staggering. Driven by money rather than morality. There’s no doubt in my mind that they misled the public. A full legal investigation needs to take place. And judging by the guilty look on all their faces, including their teenage children, which they have bizarrely dragged into this interview it’s not going to end well for them.
Having the grandkids there is very weird. They thought it would help, that they were more convincing as a large pack?. They are all guilty. Not a tear among them talking of the last time they spoke to him and his death.
You guys are sharks Jesus Christ. Let the family sell his damn books. Ol capt didn’t do everything (or much at that point) by himself. I’d imagine much of their time was spent setting all of it up. The man said it near the end - just because it was called Capt Tom foundation doesn’t mean the public suddenly owns the man. I’m surprised you guys didn’t chase down the the body when he died so it could be auctioned off for charity. The worst thing they did was not be loud and proud about it because… England. If they weren’t so weird about it because of British culture it probably never would’ve been an issue. People wouldn’t have liked them but it would’ve been a wayyyy smaller deal. No one says “hey you can do better optically (really that’s all it seems like it amounts to), but good on you for raising $40 million.” No good deed goes unpunished I guess.
The fact that repeatedly they refuse to say they won't get rid of the pool, despite the olive branch being offered multiple times, shows their priorities. They.will.not.budge.
I think you’re right. They went in with a plan they thought would cut it. But however well rehearsed it was, it didn’t work, and we all saw through it. In fairness to Piers, he didn’t let them off the hook. I doubt anyone watching will now be thinking that they are poor misunderstood people.
She hasn't really changed opinion, they still made massive profits from sir tom and from the links to the charity. She legally deceived the public for personal gain. In the end she was morally wrong and very sly in their deals using the public donated money.
I listened impartiality throughout this interview and my decision at the end! They have jumped on Toms legacy and milked it for as much as they could get away with! The truth, proof, and the findings of an inquiry will find them guilty beyond reasonable doubt. Disgusting behaviour.
"A lot of decisions which in hindsight might have been made differently." But if EVERY decision you make is based on greed, and you're running a charity, all decisions are almost bound to be wrong. And I can't get over that she HAS to work, despite coining in £800k from Tom's books. What a lifestyle she must have!
I mean really? His prologue says he's writing his books to raise funds, but the 'family' says otherwise? She's a deeply creepy person especially given the 'spa' she's tried to build without proper planning permission in Captain Tom's name. I don't care it is was her father, this is about money and other dysfunctional family things going on.
Piers is a good journalist. I am not going to mud sling but the more they speak and the silence of the kids, speaks volumes to me. The way they terminated the interview is alarming. Oh remember if not for Piers and GMB the charity would not have gone viral.
@@ryokan9120 you're making too much sense to be on here. I don't know much about this case as I live overseas. Is this something written in the Daily Mail or one of those rags? Just asking for context.
@ryokan9120 She might be still. Isn't it fraud to collect money under the presence of it going to charity? The books have been opened, and it appears quite clear where the money went.
And greedy and grasping exploiting her elderly father’s legacy. He meant well. They’ve exploited it to their own ends. Lies and evasiveness and dragging the children in for sympathy. Traumatic for them - but still not relinquishing any of the money or getting rid of that monstrous vulgar oversized spa bath/pool. I thought the husband was the worst one. Very shifty. Sadly for them, this will backfire. If they are hoping that this appearance will stop the death threats & abuse, it won’t. It’ll only make it far worse
That’s the only good thing they’ve done because nearly all charities are a scam. Why are we constantly seeing begging videos on tv for water aid etc. they should have put things right by now. Scammers the lot of them.
Not even a minute into this interview and immediately the shifty eyes the family makes towards each other screams guilt. They destroyed Tom's legacy, no shame in any of them.
blaming your dead farther for not giving the money to charity and keeping it is disgusting, how easy is it to say it was his wish or that's what he wanted to do when he is not here to say otherwise. Also having the children there nodding along and agreeing with everything and muttering yes exactly is shameful and embarrassing
A superb interview Piers - bravo. As for the responses to your straightforward, and very fair, questions...shifty, evasive, self-justifying, and lies. It's very simple, and undeniable for the world to see - they have shamelessly used the name, the efforts, and the legacy of Sir Tom for their own gain. They may have a modicum of regret that they've been caught, but they certainly have no remorse about what they've done.
Well said. They don’t regret their behavior one bit, they are angry anyone condemned their actions. They thought by using her fathers name, no one would ever dare to nay-say her. Gross.
It’s funny that they didn’t just say that first time on camera, suggests they know there is something wrong with the book sales…then the tweets appear.
Exactly, having told Piers the £809,000 was mostly from sales of memorabilia ,after their break -they were obviously getting very agitated at this stage-they changed that memorabilia to book sales money and said no money was made from memorabilia!!In the prologue to his memoir he actually wrote that he was excited to be able to enhance his charity funds with publication of his book.I do not believe that Captain Tom ever told his daughter the book money - as she kept saying they are his words-should go to them. All Tom was interested in was helping others and I think this family have done a lot of harm to charities. I just hope not too many people who have donated to the now closed,I believe,Captain Tom Foundation demand their money back because of misappropriation of funds.
Well, Thank you Piers for doing that interview with Captain Toms family. We can always rely on you to ask the questions we all want answers too. Having listened to those answers I’m really glad I didn’t make a donation to the foundation, which wasn’t because I didn’t want too but because my instinct told me not to trust the family. I now feel after watching that my instinct was right. It’s such a shame as Captain Tom was lovely & it saddens me that his legacy has been spoilt. 😢😢
Piers conducted this interview extremely well, he was polite, but firm, but I think it was a car crash for them, they didn’t appear humble at all, and really believe they have’nt done anything wrong. Would captain Toms books have been such a good seller , if he hadn’t become famous first, probably not, therefore the £800,000 was as a result of his fame and should have gone to the charity 100%
Capt Tom’s books would not have sold so well if the public thought that their money wasn’t going to his charity. The whole affair, right from the start of Capt Tom’s first step, was dodgy. It was orchestrated by the family who we now know were in financial difficulties. Always thought there was something wrong. And now we know.
It's fine for big charities to do but not for people like this woman? Not defending her but you have the likes of the Red Cross for one example only, they raised billions for Haiti during their natural disaster to the people there. What did they do? Build 4 houses, that's it. The public backlash was miniscule until years later and conspiracys surrounding child trafficking were surfacing, only then did the media report on it and noone was held accountable.
Why are people so upset, about, this pool you all need to look at your own lives, and see how much wrong things you have said & done, Piers You are no different you take big bucks for the programs you do, and to be honest all you do is bully people into saying what you think, will make you look good, But in all honesty it doesn't, when we all stand before Almighty God, will be judged on the Sin in our lives,, &there are a few out there who think they'll go to heaven, trust me, You Will Not even See heaven, because to go to heaven you Must be Born Again, read John chapter 3 Verse 3 The Lord Jesus tells you Three times, you must be born again of the spirit above & of water,(baptised, full emersion)not , baby baptism, it does not count, If any wrong has been done in God 's eyes, He will Judge these people with a righteous judgement, Not the kind of judgement that Piers and people are judging with unrighteous judgement, As God tells us Judge not, as you will be judged with the same amount of judgement , you meet out, will be mete back to you, take note, & stop judging with unrighteous judgement, Amen!🙏
This is crazy. Nobody begrudges them getting compensation for managing the charity and estate, but as someone who is a trustee and executor, what they have done is vile. They had a duty to protect Captain Tom's legacy, even at a cost and inconvenience to themselves. They would be compensated properly in due course. It doesn't mean it gives you carte blanche to spend as you wish, and figure it out later, regardless if you keep receipts. To abuse and break such a trust is inexcusable.
@1972dsrai Because that is how it is when you are a trustee or executor. You make a promise to oversee the affairs of a foundation or estate, and if that requires incurring some expenses along the way, (say, travel to meet with lawyers) you ante up for those costs and get reimbursed for them after. Nobody knows exactly what might be required so you can't bill in advance and write yourself a blank cheque. And being a trustee or executor is a _duty,_ and it is never convenient or easy. I know of no one who thought it was an easy, pleasant experience. It is a final service for the person done out of love and obligation, not thoughts of personal gain. Hopefully. The person literally has entrusted you with their life's work, and it is up to you to honour it.
@1972dsrai I was sympathetic to them too until I listened to what they had to say, then they lost my support. They didn't need to go about it the way they did. They had means and very viable options, but the temptation was too great for them.
I personally think that they knew exactly what the were doing and anticipated getting away with the pool on the good will that people felt for Captain Tom. They were shocked that they got caught out, and annoyed that the pool could be snatched away from them because they all feel that they deserve it.
Their faces when asked about the £80,000! (48.00) You don't go off camera when the questioning gets tricky unless you have something to hide. They have cashed in and they should just say so at this point. Well done Piers!
Captain Tom was genuine. His daughter and her husband are opportunists who have exploited the situation. They have been caught out. They should pay every penny back. I feel sorry that the children who have been dragged into this greed. Do the right thing. People donated in good faith. Crocodile tears mean nothing. We can see right through you.
The reluctancy in answering questions on the spa betrays the true intention: the use of his image and public warmth to profit as much as possible. They should have been clear on the private profit from books and other IP equipment.
Agree. She wasn't clear about where the money from the books would be going because imo she let people think the money would go to the charity to boost sales. It obviously worked.
Bearing in mind she is a marketing director and he is a chartered accountant therefore they knew what they were doing with company finances and marketing from the outset before the charity was setup. The moral of the story is not to take people's hard earned money they donate to charity to line your own pockets 👌
Piers so damn good at his job, doesnt just blast them with accusations causing them to shell up, instead lets them weaves some heart warming stories, sympathises, then drops it on them, what a G 😂
You are right! For the first half of the interview I thought "why is he being so soft on them?" not raising his voice, not commenting on their answers. It was also very evident throughout the first half of this that they were very well prepared & rehearsed. Then suddenly Piers was like a dog with a bone, kept asking them the same question & they just crumbled. The decision to stop the interview by the family when they didn't like the line of questioning was a poor one. I honestly tried to come to this with an open mind & let them explain but sadly they came out of this very very badly.
It would have been even better if Piers had been aware beforehand that Tom had said in several places that he welcomed his book contributing to his Foundation and Piers could have destroyed their claim that Tom wanted them to have all the profits, but I agree, very good to expose the 800 grand fraud, and that's what it is, by false representation, under The Fraud Act 2006
Somehow I can't imagine them wanting a line of the elderly tramping through the "Spa" pool, I'm calling BS on this one.
Don't forget the Pilates teacher 😂
and how much would they charge
Let's all turn up tomorrow with our towels!❤see you there!..we paid for it
I am sure they didn’t want elderly people peeing and farting in their precious pool.
Peeing maybe not but farting isn’t a bad idea, at least it would create bubbles and save on their electric!
I've been an accountant for multiple charities. This is unforunately the case with most charities, even the large and successful ones.

"No paper trail" Sounds like they made damn sure there isn't.
You don't know him? He raised her?
Agree, I commented before I seen yours. The emails they referenced were received after his death. None of those messages contain any hate towards him.
What rubbish! He was a gem and she did use him😮
So irresponsible & selfish to have included their 14 year old daughter in the interview. In my opinion the parents thought that including the children would make people feel sorry for them. The daughter was clearly coached as at 18:26 her father is mouthing the words as they come out of her mouth....

I started listening completely impartial and genuinely wanted to believe them. I’m genuinely sad to say I do not believe a word they said. Both extremely deceptive and clearly greedy people. I found myself squirming for them watching this. Excellent interview Piers!

@@travissmith2092 You literally have no idea what you’re taking about. Are you high?

@@ryanbrown1164 please look up Piers Morgan. Two wrongs don't make a right.
Such jealousy!
Watching a family of politicians well rehearsed answers even the kids chipping in
I think you’re right. They went in with a plan they thought would cut it. But however well rehearsed it was, it didn’t work, and we all saw through it. In fairness to Piers, he didn’t let them off the hook. I doubt anyone watching will now be thinking that they are poor misunderstood people.
They went straight for the sympathy vote
Anyone who calls their kids 'benji' is a c*nt
Pretty sure the kids were only there to deflect criticism
Poor kids. It's unfair for the parents to drag them into this and expose them to more hate
What he said!
😂
Disgraceful ……he did that for a good cause and she’s out here excusing her theft. Humans are a disgrace
Some are, He was a good man
But if it was theft, she would have been arrested and charged.

And greedy and grasping exploiting her elderly father’s legacy. He meant well. They’ve exploited it to their own ends. Lies and evasiveness and dragging the children in for sympathy. Well done you added to the list of reasons people won’t donate to charity in the future good work
That’s the only good thing they’ve done because nearly all charities are a scam. Why are we constantly seeing begging videos on tv for water aid etc. they should have put things right by now. Scammers the lot of them.
Didn't mean it, Jack the Ripper said that!
Not even a minute into this interview and immediately the shifty eyes the family makes towards each other screams guilt. They destroyed Tom's legacy, no shame in any of them.
if they asked for donations for a spa , would we have donated .... the answer is no
Exactly.

blaming your dead farther for not giving the money to charity and keeping it is disgusting, how easy is it to say it was his wish or that's what he wanted to do when he is not here to say otherwise. Also having the children there nodding along and agreeing with everything and muttering yes exactly is shameful and embarrassing
It's father actually
I don't know how the family sleep at night, it's absolutely disgusting what they did.
One word " THIEVES"
They sleep soundly.
They don't give a damn
Piers at his best! Brilliant interview. If Hannah thinks fudging untruths will help. She will be in for a shock. People will be very angry!
People would have bought those books thinking the money was going to charity.
They may have a modicum of regret that they've been caught, but they certainly have no remorse about what they've done.
completely true
Absolutely hit the nail on the head, their only regret is being called out for what is imo dishonest and immoral behaviours.
Well said. They don’t regret their behavior one bit, they are angry anyone condemned their actions. They thought by using her fathers name, no one would ever dare to nay-say her. Gross.
excellent moment without been vile or hatefull
They should go to jail for theft
U should go to jail for hate u sad thing
Theft of what? Because they made business income from books that were written by Captain Tom, which he agreed to?
@@planeguy95He didn't agree to it. Read the foreword of his books.
Conveniently took a break for 10 minutes, then realised that all of the 809k was from innocent book sales😂 this family has no shame
"should have gone to the charity 100%" ..... only if the charity owned the books.
I agree with you 100%!
Absolutely
Capt Tom’s books would not have sold so well if the public thought that their money wasn’t going to his charity. The whole affair, right from the start of Capt Tom’s first step, was dodgy. It was orchestrated by the family who we now know were in financial difficulties. Always thought there was something wrong. And now we know.
Do you think that family push Him in to do this for money?
@@katarzynamariamuszynska2811Yes I do

Tom was part of the scam as well
It's fine for big charities to do but not for people like this woman? Not defending her but you have the likes of the Red Cross for one example only, they raised billions for Haiti during their natural disaster to the people there. What did they do? Build 4 houses, that's it. The public backlash was miniscule until years later and conspiracys surrounding child trafficking were surfacing, only then did the media report on it and noone was held accountable.
The poor girl only had 3 months to syphon off funds, what else was the sh!t to do?

How sad that his own family tainted his legacy a fine man who battled to do good for his country. So sad.

@@efinna4004!
Yes. Both of them were struck dumb at one point, by Piers' very astute grilling. Excellent interview.
to me they,re "pityful"...........done it to themselves.............Cpt Tom DID ALL the real work..........
Changed my mind. Once I’d watched the whole video I now find myself in full agreement with you.
Blaming a 100 year olds guys personal agent like she was never involved 😅

Agreed. It’s a very professional job.
