@@Ab6272 John wrote this song and did a demo on a cassette -- after john had passed Yoko gave the Cassette ( and a cassette of John s " Free as a Bird " ) to Paul McCartney for the purpose of filling out the tunes for the " Anthology Set " John also recorded a demo of " Grow Old With Me " There is another Demo version of " Real Love " in the opening credits of the Imagine movie ( 1988 ) .

This is such a beautiful performance! Great sound quality too! It's a shame the director felt compelled to cut to a different camera literally every 3 seconds... as if the audience would go to sleep without cuts to different angles or near/far cuts to keep them awake. Such a shame. Ruined the video. And yes... just my 2 cents.

Anyone who can cover a John Lennon song and not only nail it but even improve it deserves some respect. Have to say though that the presenter sitting behind her in the middle of the stage was a little weird……

The presenter makes her sound like a diva for stipulating quality equipment. It's not a celebrity/ rock star extravagance.
I like to think the presenter and Regina have respect for the song.
I saw her live once. She seemed so humble and appreciative. She was sick. It was obvious she wasn’t feeling very well. But she didn’t cancel. She held nothing back.
She gave it everything she had.
The music was everything.
In this age of auto tune I am always sceptical. I have definitely heard her use it at least once.
@@nathyatta you make it sound like auto tune diminishes an artists talent. She's obviously capable of not having one, it's most likely a creative decision to use it. Stop looking for mistakes on people and enjoy them instead
Part of presenting is telling stories. I'm sure Triple J are very proud that they were able to make this song happen and to see what a success it has been. Also, it's common in Australia to take note of how difficult something is however I'm sure it was a throw away story and not what they took from the experience.

John Lennon? Actually it was The Beatles.
John wrote it during his time as a solo artist and an acoustic demo of it was first released on the soundtrack for the documentary Imagine: John Lennon. The remaining Beatles later completed a home recording of it, turning it into Beatles song, but originally it was released under John Lennon so calling it a John Lennon song and Beatles song are both correct.

sounds too kooky and disjointed for me - very early 70's baby boomer sound. But all i am saying is its not to my personal taste. Prefer Lennon's fragile demo version. Would love to hear a real genuine heartfelt version

But I find this version lacking the thrill of the very Harrison guitar figures at the end of each line in the chorus, the whoozy thump of Ringo’s drums and the harmonies of the FRICKEN BEATLES in the chorus! As per usual, the Beatles have always known, and therefore always done, their songs best.

Left me cold, then wondering how this rendition pays tribute to Lennon. She's a great piano player but her version doesn't stir me like John's crackling tape demo does.
Yes, Regina made some dubious chord changes for sure. For example at 1:58 Why is she trying to build tension in the middle of the verse? In the original version the tension is in the pre chorus and the release is in the chorus. Because those parts are already laid out in the song's structure. She goes from big tension to little tension to release. It's illogical and anticlimactic. She doesn't seem to know what she is doing. Is she really a songwriter?
I think her chord changes improved the structure of the song, really polished it. Makes Lennon's version sound like a first draft.

I'm not particularly impressed by her voice, although she does play the piano beautifully... There have been far better performances on this channel. I don't see why the host played it up so much.
