thing is like some of us older guys really don't care for Tom aspinal and that wasn't the fight we've been waiting for and we could care less if that fight happens. honestly she hasn't even made enough of a name for himself and my eyes that I've even watched any of his fights. so if Stipe or Jones can't fight it's better for the fighter to back out. like fighting Tom Aspen on does what? like if John loses like exactly he shouldn't have took that fight then if he wins he remains champion nothing really changes. if he fights steep Bay who is considered a legendary fighter and one of the top fighters and has proven that oh yeah that would be a legendary fight between two legendary guys

He could have phrased it as Belal deserved to win, Leons performance could have been negatively impacted by the time and his point would be the same
@pd66546 he can preface all he wants, but he is minimizing Belal's win by making excuses for Leon despite that he claims he is not. No one's arguing that Belal had to travel and acclimate, that Leon had the home crowd advantage, that he hired a sleep therapist for his prep, or that the other UK based fighters won that night. There's no need to mention excuses for either side.
Yeah because Belal won and fought excellently why would people be naming things that might have affected his performance negatively. Think things through

@pd66546 happens all the time. When the winner mentions inhibiting factors after the fight (ex Pereira's injury going into his last fight) it's considered more acceptable since he won. When fighters (or coaches, media etc) do the same for someone who lost, it's considered making excuses and disrespecting the winner. Ariel knows he can't get interviews with any of Ali's fighters so he takes the liberty of being biased towards their opponents (Leon in this case). I'm glad Aspinall didn't take the bait in his response.
@pd66546 Ariel said a lot more than just the time might have affected the performance by a bit, he literally said he doubts the fight would not have gone the same way if it wasn't for the start time.

Please correct me , if Tom is an official backup fighter for Jones vs Steipe , then they must have agreed to that before hand ? It would be crazy to give either fighter the ability to back out due to the others injury... Hope its a great fight... It would be more interesting if Steipe won , even if he retired afterwards... If he one and then fought Aspinal , thats great...if he retires , then Aspinal and someone fights for belt . Someone mentioned that Jones winning , he may not retire right away and will sit on the belt...then fight or not... He could have followed Jiri and Jamal's example when he got hurt and relinquish the belt . It would not have affected his record . He doesn't give a shit about anyone else , the fans , fighters , or the company...
