    • @SpeedBead
      @SpeedBead  9 років тому +1

      Thank you kindly! Yes, to curve the lid, I curled it around a cup while it was still hot, because it was hot to touch. Then I lined it up the way I wanted on the rest of the chest and held it until it was completely cooled.

    I've just been introduced to perler beads and I got some to make this. I was wondering; When you were bending the top piece (bendybend) was it very hot? Cause honestly, I can't bear hot temperatures and I was wondering if I should do that part with gloves or something. (But you did them with bare hands so--)

    • @SpeedBead

    • @SpeedBead
      @SpeedBead  9 років тому +1

      I made a Facebook page yesterday, actually! I only have the template for the the mini version of this for now! Problem is they take a long time to make! If you can pause the video on the design you can match it on your own pegboard- just copy what you see. :) it's the same as a written template!

    • @Crafteandoqueesgerundio
      @Crafteandoqueesgerundio 9 років тому

      SpeedBead Thank you! I'm following your page. Congratulations!
      Btw, I hope hope you can help me with some doubts I have. Why do you use the masking tape method? How does that improve the result in comparison with ironing directly on the board? And do you always make holes in the masking tapes? Thank you very much for your help

    • @SpeedBead
      @SpeedBead  9 років тому +1

      Awesome thank you!
      The masking tape method prolongs the life of your peg boards! The peg boards won't be heated and warped and they'll stay perfect with this method. When you use the masking tape method, you always have to poke holes in the tape or else air will get trapped inside the beads and cause the melted plastic to pop. You'll end up with big holes in your final product if you don't let the beads breathe by poking holes in the tape.

  • @SuperSinSlayer77
    @SuperSinSlayer77 9 років тому

    Quick question, how exactly do you peel the beads off of the pegboard? I can see you using tape but I'm wondering what kind are you using and then what do you normally use to make sure the beads don't bend while your heating them with the iron?

    • @SpeedBead
      @SpeedBead  9 років тому

      I use masking tape and then make sure there's air holes poked in the back before I iron. (look up how to use the masking tape method to make sure you do it correctly.) As for bending while you iron, you can put a heavy book on the piece you're not ironing to make sure they don't bend out of place as you go.

    • @SuperSinSlayer77
      @SuperSinSlayer77 9 років тому

      Ok. I'm planning on making a Mario coin box and various coasters so I need to make sure the beads don't bend. For the coin box, once I finish ironing a side then just place a heavy book on top of it?

    • @SpeedBead
      @SpeedBead  9 років тому

      Yeah! Heavy books do the trick. Make sure your piece is entirely cooled before you remove the book. Sometimes it takes 10 minutes or so.

    • @SuperSinSlayer77
      @SuperSinSlayer77 9 років тому

      Thank you so much for your advice! I'm going to give the masking tape method a shot to make a coaster before working on the coin box

    • @SpeedBead
      @SpeedBead  9 років тому

      Good idea! When you put the masking tape on, push on it a bunch to make sure it sticks! a few beads may come off but it's not the end of the world. Just be patient with it :)

    • @SpeedBead
      @SpeedBead  9 років тому

      Aaron Clarke Ah sorry about that! What I did was, I ironed both sides and then laid it over a cup to bend it while it was too hot to touch! When it was cool enough for me to touch, I held it into place just with my fingers until it was ENTIRELY COOLED. Took about ten minutes of waiting for it to be completely cool. Make sure you check your shape with the rest of the box so that the lid will sit right. Hope that helped!

    I just finished this but the top doesn't quite fit! It comes a bit short i think, or i just didn't bend it correctly. Can you suggest a way to fix it? I sure the measurements are correct from your video.

    • @SpeedBead
      @SpeedBead  9 років тому

      Shoot! Maybe try reheating it and bending it more sharply! The curve should be pretty snug to the sides, even inside a little bit. See if that helps!

    • @SpeedBead
      @SpeedBead  9 років тому

      set your iron to a warm setting as opposed to HOT; you don't want to melt the beads more- just heat it up so its pliable again.

    • @Cupcake_Murder
      @Cupcake_Murder 9 років тому

      SpeedBead I'll try that. If I mess it up more I might re-do the top and make sure it fits. Probably making it a bit longer :)

    • @SpeedBead
      @SpeedBead  9 років тому

      That'll work too, but it's such a shame to have to waste the time and beads!! I'm sorry! I hope reheating it works for you.
