The two most important parts to prevent your Oztent collapsing is securing the velcro ties around the side frame AND ensuring the pegs are put in on an angle (somewhere towards 90 degrees) to the direction the rope is pulling, certainly not on the same plane that the rope is pulling!
you dont pull it up by the extra fabric of awning.. you pull it up through the brace in between a & b.. and then when its pulled up.. you can go inside and secure the brace inside...
Oh mate, sorry but you make it look much more difficult than it actually is. I have this tent. It is really great. The only disadvantage is that it is long and has to go on the roof racks. You can use a rack with roller at one end which would make it easy.
I’ve had mine for 4 years, it has been through 150ml of rain in 1 night and water never got through. My fault I’ve torn a few minor holes in it but still works great, the first thing to go would be the zipper for the door flyscreen. Keep in mind I used this tent everyday for 8 months straight
@@MoonKnightH8 thanks for the great info. Yeah, that's more use any tent would usually endure in its lifetime with the average 2-3 times a year. Great, I think I will invest in one at the next sale.
Looks like a decent tent do you reckon it would fit in the back off a 90's falcon wagon with the back seat folded down? Considering buying 1 good vid mate 👍
Depends on how big the cot is, I'd go into a camping store and look at one in person if I were you and look at going up to the RV-5 for more room if required...
Used my oz tent rv3 for the first time (spent around $1600 on tent, side panels & front panel). Had some heavy rain & not only does the tent leak, water pools on the peaked roof behind cross bar of the front panel. Woke up one morning to find front cross bar bent/colapsed due to weight of water, but even more annoying I woke up to find my phone & ipad sitting in water due to leaking despite being told it is 100% waterproof. Also have trouble with condensation, which I have now been told a fly will sort the problem out which costs $200 on top of the $1000 I have just spent on the tent💩👎👎
+potmuncher That's a shame to hear as my tent has been permanently set up on my farm now for 6 months, been through severe storms, very hot humid days and hasn't leaked at all. The front part I have on a slight angle to provide run off and it works well. My tent is very faded now and I have noticed one small rip in the material on the front panel and the zip cords on the rear flap have fallen off as they were completely degraded, but still no leaks and I just spent the last 2 days in it camping...
Yosimete Sam I had it setup permanently for a year on the farm. It went through storms, heat waves and the cold. The only thing that needs replacing is the tie downs as they become worn and brittle in the constant sun. The storms caused no real issues and I would highly recommend the tent mate. 99% of people aren't going to expose it to the constant beating that I have...
Yosimete Sam no need to buy another as I just need to replace the ropes on my current one. It handled 42 degree heat on my place mate so it'll work in St George heat too :)
Sorry bloke, but this is a clumsy effort. You really fumbled the important bit - the quick pitch. Have the front awning rolled up and pull from the handle inside at the back of the tent. Read the directions to bring some authority to what you’re doing. But thanks anyway for having a go.
When I was younger and stupider on a camp site after a couple you would go and rip up your mates ropes so when he wakes up to watch him to try and get out just muckn around

Use the tab inside to pull it up, also you forgot to do Velcro on main frame, really important, you should roll away the awning before putting away
FYI. Awning and rear window flap should be folded up before packed. That makes initial setup easier when pulling frame into place 👍
I didn't realise instruction was needed to hammer in pegs at the opposite angle to the force pulling on them. I stand corrected.
Great video and fantastic review. Thank you very much
No problem, glad you enjoyed it
you should review some vehicle rooftop tents as well as camper trailers
Thanks for a great review mate. Can you tell me how the tent is holding up after all these years?

Thanks, the best review I have seen.
Be aware if you put anything on the canvas, such as unused guy ropes it will leak water/dew wherever that thing touches the canvas.
Nice tent but you need a roof rack to take it anywhere. At 2 metres long I couldn't even carry it in the back of my duel cab.
well done. we got them here in NZ too
How wind resistant is the tent when properly pegged in? Not in terms of blowing away but it terms of the wind ripping canvas or bending poles?
Very, I went through a severe storm 2 weeks ago with it, nothing ripped, the poles were fine and it all held up when pegged properly…
***** Thanx for the speedy reply, and thanx for the thorough review!
no problem
Is this tent long enough to fit a cot from the door to back window? Doesnt look to be.

nice review you did a great job:)
How are these tents in 100F conditions like Texas summers??
DrDennis77 the aussie sun is pretty darn tough mate, if its built to aussie standards, it will last the Texas sun
Why do you put in tent pegs backwards??😂

Yes I would, my tent has copped a flogging and still standing
Good review mate. Offers a real insight to the product. Thanks.
no worries, thanks for watching…
Why would you do that?
So Ozzie, how has the tent stood to the test of time?

How do you think it would perform in 42 deg heat out near St George? I would put a fly over the top. Also would you buy another one?

Awesome, just what I need. Have a few more properties now and getting out a fair bit.
Maybe I'm blind or deaf, but I didn't see/hear any dimensions listed....
That's not how to install tent pegs
It look to short, why do they make them for 4 foot people?
I'm 6"5 so it's hardly too short...
gone are the days of running past and cutting the pull-down ropes lol
these are good tents
Your pegs on the ropes are in the wrong angle , should be against the force.

That would be a toilet tent on our site. Tiny.
stephen boothby yeh but its good for constant travel and setup. Built durable and designed for quick setup when needed
Please make sure you know how to setup the tent properly before videoing yourself doing it, this was so cringe.
Good design for military wannabes... Too ugly for family and kids.
