this is amazing Mic. thank you a lot. great job. your channel is the best to learn danish :) keep it up
Thank you so much, Luca! :)
You should pick Canadian English - our accent is the best and highly sought after by news broadcasters & Hollywood!
I have a little anecdote about South African English. A former colleague of my father’s speaks with the South African accent. His father had worked for Ford Motors and the family had lived in India, South Africa and Australia. Because they lived in South Africa when he was a boy, that’s the accent that stuck despite being born to Canadian parents and then moving back to Canada as a teenager and spending the rest of his life (still living) here. To me, his accent is strong, as if he never left Johannesburg!
Wow, that's amazing. It really shows how important it is to focus on accent in the very beginning. Because what you learn in the beginning is often going to stick. But there differences between people, some people are very moldable, changing their accent easily. Like those people who can speak any language like a native speaker after a very short time. I've had a few of these people as students in my teaching career, and I've always been envious of them.
As to a Canadian English, I've actually sometimes caught myself starting to say words with ou, fx. "out", with that strange Canadian sound. You know what I mean. Somehow I find that sound cool. But the rest of it doesn't seem very much different from "American English" to me. Sorry for my ignorance / trouble picking up those smaller differences 😉
Mic's Languages You will like this website. www.dialectsarchive.com/ontario-26 This woman sounds basically exactly like I do.
@@aegrant100 Thank you soooo much. You are full of great links to send to me, huh?
Actually, I already knew this site. I've used it a bit for my South African training. But I kind of forgot about it, so thanks for reminding me!
It's truly an amazing piece of work.
Canadian English, eh? 🤣
Hey, a shoutout to my homeland! 😁 I’m an English South African trying to learn Danish. We’re at opposite ends of the vowel laziness spectrum.
Great, bru! You are fortunate in my opinion 😉
I hope your Danish studies are going well!
Mic's Languages It’s early days. Your videos are helping a lot. Tusind tak!
Very interesting app - I am planning to use it to practice Danish pronunciation and accent, as I have Android on my phone!
I wonder if you know which app shows what words are used in the text...
Hello My name is Dildora I'm from Uzbekistan, Can you help me how to speak fluently in the UK language
Hello Mic! I'm from Brazil and I'm new here. I really liked your app tip. I would like to know if you are British and what your accent is. Thank you so much again!
Hi Éder! Thabjs for your message. I'm from Denmark and my accent in English is a mixture of all kinds of different influences. I am currently working on getting a native English accent, but it's not easy to change an accent after so many years. Iny future videos I hope to be able to speak with the accent I'm training for the moment :)
@@MicsLanguages Interesting Mic! I would like to learn Danish someday but I think it must be very difficult. I also don't think I have a specific accent 😅. It is a mixture because I am Brazilian and I am passionate about various types of accents and dialects.
@@ederantonio106 Sounds great! That's also one of my passions. I'm trying to learn South African English. There are several types of English from that country, but I'm trying to get an accent similar to the guy in this video: ua-cam.com/video/tXp52GdKCpM/v-deo.html
@@MicsLanguages Interesting!! Thanks for sharing. 😁
This was a great tip! Took a minute to figure out how to split screen on a Galaxy 9+, but it's all working like a charm now, thanks !
Perfect!
What about for iOS?
As I said in the video, I don't know of anything. But maybe somebody else can help...
Thank you for sharing the useful app!
and what is your native language??
My native language is Danish, but also German, which I started to learn at age 8 and reached native speaker level
I was just looking for something like this!!! Thank you!!!
My biggest problem is not being able to differentiate the difference between what I am saying and the recorded sample. I can see how this could help but I would like feedback from a person or voice recognition software telling me what I said is right or wrong.
That's a good point, Ryan. It would of course be good to have somebody (or some thing) tell you what you need to change.
BUT that way, you depend on something external. If you in any way can, i.e. if your hearing is not impaired in any severe way, I would recommend you to try to fine-tune your ears in order to be able to pick up the sounds you hear. This can take time, especially if it's a language with many sounds you are not used to hearing.
But it will make you a lot more "powerful" / less dependant in the end.
Elsa speak is the best app if you prefer a feedback
Thank you so much... This is too helpful...,😍🔥
That's great, thank you!
Very helpful thank you !
What a great tip! Thanks! 🙂
Super nice trick. Thanks, Mic :)
Thanks, Liam :)
Great, cool trick! I'll use it!
Wonderful tip, Mic! Thanks !!! 🙏🌟🙏🌟
Super, Lu. Håber, du kommer til at bruge app'en! 🙂
@@MicsLanguages 🙏🌟🙏🌟🙏 Jeg vil prøve den. 👍 Tak igen!!!
@@luraymundo1067 Det lyder godt! God fornøjelse!
Tak skal du have!
@@MicsLanguages Hej, Mic, tak for svar.
Thank you so much sir
Graças a Deus existe UA-cam e vcs 🙏🏽😃
sir hope u r doing well. would u plz suggest me a best online dictionary for english to danish plz ? It will be so helpful for me .thank u
Hi Mic, I couldn't find this answer in your vids. Can you let me know how to pronounce the name "Reidun" please?
Hi Cassie. Reidun is not a Danish name. It must be Norwegian or Icelandic or something 🤔
@@MicsLanguages My bad, but thanks for your reply!
I am from India I would like to talk to you
Is this app only for Android? What abt Apple? 😢
Unfortunately Apple doesn't have anything like this. There's also another app that I love to use for language learning, which Apple doesn't have either. I'll make videos about that other app at some point. I would say it's worth it for you to get a second hand android phone :)
@@MicsLanguages I do have a spare android phone. 🙃 Shd get down to using it.
@@annepamelamanning I think you should :)
👏👏
South African English? WTF would anybody want to learn THAT accent?
Just because, there's nothing wrong with that 🤨
so bad
We had an amazing program for English RP pronunciation at the university. I'm not quite sure if it was their property, sort of an internal app or if it is widely accessible. It would basically go through sounds one by one. It had pictures, like an x-ray of your mouth, showing you what you should do with your tongue to produce a sound. Then you would be given a bunch of words with the sound. You could record yourself saying them, while the program would tell you if you were doing it right. I loved it. I do wish there was an app like that for other languages - but have not found any yet... I don't even remember the name of the app we were using :(
Agata Micyk In general, native speakers of English don’t like the RP pronunciation. It sounds affected and pretentious. Sounds like an amazing app though!
It is amazing, I think it also had an option for the American pronunciation - I don't remember which one. I always preferred the British pronunciation though, so I picked RP. I did have some problems due to the perception of RP among native English speakers at first - a couple of years ago I went to London and got a summer job in a pub to practice my English and I had customers joking they did not know the royal family was doing so bad they had to work in pubs 😂 still, I preferred RP to my other option, which was to speak English with my natural Polish accent ;) and with time, if you have contact with English speakers, it wears off a bit anyway and becomes more natural, less posh I guess? but it is a good starting point for foreigners
Agata Micyk That’s a great story!
That app sounds great indeed. I would love to see it in action. Being shown the tongue position etc is very useful, and in many cases essential for adults to be able to make the right sounds.
Maybe that's my business idea, making such an app haha.
As to received pronunciation, I've also never really liked it, but then again, it seems like in your case, Agata, it worked out great 👍😉
As good as it could, I guess - English pronunciation is not something that came easy to me, as the sounds in my native language are so much different 😂
I think I have found the course we have been using: sayitrightonline.pl/en-US/
It appears they have a couple of languages available now (no Danish though, so something to think about 😃). I used it 10 years ago, so it might be a very different app than what I used to know.
Agora sim fico bom nesse dinamarquês. Hahaha. Excelente vídeo!
Haha Elvis.
how can I learn danish language at begning level.
Mange tak !!! Mic
Life changing techniques.. thank you so much.
Haha, that's great 😁 Thank you!
Name of the app please
Thancs, Man, for this point.
You're welcome :)
is this app available for pc
Not that I know of
What about the ones who have iPhone?!?!?
I'm sorry, I don't know of any app that does exactly the same as this one. But you can use a simple audio recorder, it's just a bit more cumbersome
@@MicsLanguages thank you 🙏🏻
Thank you Mic ,i am new here , i am start learning danish now , i am totally agree with you that pronunciation is very important for speaking, thank you for your tip , it is really helpful, i would like to know more your experience that you have studied new language how fast as possible to get native accent, and tusind tak !!!!
Hi Lucia. Thank you for your comment. Regarding your question of how quickly someone can get a native sounding accent, I would say that it is almost impossible to get a native accent for a person who is not a child anymore. There are very few people who can do this as adults. Most of us would have to practice A LOT, probably for many years, to get near a native accent. But this doesn't mean that we shouldn't do our best to get as close as possible. It's difficult to talk about how long it takes, though. Depends on each individual. Their talent, what language they come from, and especially how much time and attention they invest.
