*John Titor was a legit internet thing back in the 2000s. He suddenly appeared on internet forums & claimed he cam from future. The whole thing is such an important part of the internet's history.*
In the Visual Novel, the lecture scene is shown to the audience and is literally turned up to eleven, with Kurisu mentioning exactly eleven different theories of time travel, subsequently shooting down two of these hypotheses. That the creators took the time to explain the absurdities of theoretical time travel in a visual novel/anime about time travel shows something pretty special.
that lecture killed more time and made more audiences walk away from the series, unfortunately. It's one of the reasons why it's not shown in the anime. It explained things that did not move the plot forward, not even a little bit. If it's so important, it would've been something crucial to the story.
@@QWERTY-gp8fd a dragged on red herring that spans more than 3 minutes. in a novel, you would not want your readers to be lectured from page 1 to page 5 with shit that's not even gonna come into play or not crucial at all. It would've been nice to have it simplified cuz it's unnecessarily long.
So John Titor is actually a thing irl. A guy with the username john titor posted about himself being a time traveler in like the early 2000's I think. Also, pretty sure SERN is CERN. ""Conseil Européen pour la Recherche Nucléaire", or European Council for Nuclear Research, a provisional body founded in 1952 with the mandate of establishing a world-class fundamental physics research organization in Europe".

John titor is base on real event where a person claim to be a time traveler during 2000 and 2001 by a poster claiming to be an American military time traveler from 2036
while I love steins;gate reactions. I think to fully appreciate it is to have knowledge of typical anime tropes and nerd/geek/weeb culture. As you guys mentioned it's even in the lingo of the characters.
This anime is really hard to understand if you watch at the first time. But after you understand, you will feel it is amazing! I watched twice with different time line, but first time, just follow the usual one. Hope you guys will love this anime. Nice video!
It's been a while since I watched but I remember it being pretty easy to follow. Just instead of throwing you in the deep end right away they slowly lower you in and let you piece it together. then it really starts moving.
John Titor was actually in the headlines back in 2000. He claimed to be a time traveler from 2036 and even predicted the Java Tsunami in 2004 before it even happened.
HEY! Of all the reaction episodes and "reaction on the rocks" episodes I seen of you both, I JUST NOW NOTICED that you have Clementine's hat on a shelf behind you. WHOA! So AWESOME! I knew there's a reason I liked watching your vids..
You'll really appreciate this series once you finish final episode in season 2 which explains the confusion in the whole series. After that you'll feel empty because you'll not be able to rewatch it like the first time. El psy congroo!
This is the firs time I see someone be to confused by the show in general, to be shocked by the 'Ruka is a dude' revelation :D Also Suzuha is here, the fun can start!
A little trivia, Okarin is what you call a chuunibyou, someone who has illusions of grandeur or power. He likes to call himself a genius or a mad scientist, and create improbable scenarios and imaginary adversaries like The Organization. Basically like a child that's like acting out his favorite sentai (superhero) show, but there's actually a good reason why he is that way.
it was at the start when he sent the mail and everyone "disappeared" then mayuri showed up. he kept insisting she was imaginary for a few more episodes but I think he was doing it for the memes at that point.
Funny you should mention delusions lol. Choas;Head was a very interesting anime, tho not nearly as good as this. It takes place a few years before the events of Steins;Gate and is referenced a few times, but has no connection otherwise (the visual novels have a more major connection tho). There's also Robotics;Notes which is after S;G, but still no major connections.
Didn't this episode explain the simple plot? Titor says, "a person who meets himself is able to remember different world lines." or something along those lines. and cern is already using time travel so...
I legit don't know wth is anyone talking about in this show. I feel this is the type of show I'm too dumb to understand and I'll watch someone explain it when I'm done watching it. Too many terminologies that I don't understand.
If you are questioning this, Madoka Magica will really get you :) both are great anime by the way. Stay far away from Serial experiments Lain he he :D it will totally confuse you XD

Thanks 🙏
Just started and just saw this part lmao.

Steins Gate doesnt get to the point until like ep 7. Until then it's okay to be confused, don't worry it's a really good anime. Trust
me
I loved this anime right from ep1.
reminds me that once upon a time I put it on hiatus on episode 5 or 6. xD
Woe dumb past me.
Good from episode 1 in my opinion, great from episode 7
Ruka is incredibly feminine but also a male. That was the joke I wasn't sure if it made sense or not.
Ruka... is a dude. The man spells it out 3 times not sure how people don't laugh a bit. lol

I named my cactus after him 😂 🌵
yep. he was staying with family. A LOT of people believed him. and he did disappear. It's pretty cool that it inspired this entire anime.
"Ruka... is a dude"

Balls or not, I'd hit that for sure
You will understand everything within 6 or 7 eps.
Don't worry. The show is awesome,

Steins; Gate will make perfect sense from episode 12 onwards. It's gonna be confusing until then.
please don't mention episodes by number, it ruins the surprise factor.

Ackbar: It's a trap!

I feel like Steins Gate is almost a cosmic horror narrative in a lot of ways, so the confusion lends a lot to the experience

my favorite Mayuri theory a reactor came up with, is that she's a figment of Okabe's imagination. can't wait to see what whacky stuff you come up with

John Titor is from a real book and a real life event that happened in 2000 to 2001, the book discusses the event. Ruka is Male. Dude = Male.
