At my locals yesterday I won the door prize (a little tin of S&V) gave it to a kid I won a game against later in the day, kid opened it and got the alt art Iron valiant worth $50. 😅 But I believe that’s also a part of this hobby and investing. Getting the new generations to have a good experience. Otherwise our investments won’t be worth much to the new gen :)
100%. That's why Pokemon has been so successful. They constantly have an eye on the next generation and thus far have avoided complacency. Also, that was very nice of you. I'm not religious but if god does happen to be real you can use that good deed to get through the pearly gates. 😂
I love that your videos pop up so early in the morning here in the UK. I'm rubbish at getting to sleep so it's nice that I've got something to watch. 😂
Good pts man 1. Don't get high on your own supply 2. Focus don't get distracted by shiny new thing BB and pc etb been proven 3. Patiences 4. When in doubt Zoom out reprints are good dca into positions
Sound advice Michael👍 I like to buy a case to store away, and one loose booster box to display… If I want to rip open some packs I buy booster bundles, build and battle boxes and mini-tins. Great win by the Lions🏆🏉
I've made all of these mistakes, and still do some times, but much less so compared to 3-4 years ago. Absolutely agree with you, people shouldn't confuse collecting with investing, and yes we can all be both! Have some fun, but if you're investing, keep the eye on the prize too 🎯
Collection boxes with high demand promos are not a bad investment, but admittedly… those are far and few in between. The most prime example of this is the Flareon/Vaperon/Jolteon collection boxes. UPCs under MSRP are never a bad buy either (Charizard and 151 UPCs) I do agree, cracking packs is entertainment, and not investment. Buying sealed booster boxes for main sets and buying booster bundles/ETBs for the specialty sets (or you could always buy the Japanese booster boxes for those sets 🤔) are the best sealed investments. Great Video… as always.
As an older stock investor that does Pokémon collecting with my kids, I really appreciate your comments. They are honest and helpful. I love the artwork but also see these cards as a valuable way to teach my kids fundamentals in investing. Great work!
That is why I pre-order a 10 pack ETB + 6 pack Booster Box. I open a few for joy, leave the rest for a 10-15 year holding. If I didn't get the hits, I just buy them individually. Less money wasted, less "gambling", future proofing to be featured on a UA-cam channel with 50 years old selling my packs for thousands to the next PokeRev lol haha. Nice content man! Always insightful.
You should make a vid discussing the realities/difficulties of selling product. I never see anyone touch on how hard is to offload product (even desirable product) or how much you get screwed by sales tax/shipping. People be like oh this booster box is $1000 according to tcg player/ebay yet you need to find an actual buyer and after it’s all said and done you’ve only pocketed $800
Yeah no one should be doing this without e-commerce experience. Pokeoz did do a video on taxes a while ago and he's talked about building feedback long before you need to sell. He's one of the last "Poke Investing" channels I watch because he's well grounded.
I know opening product is a demon that many investors struggle with, but out of sight out of mind really helps you get started down that path! Once you acquire a lot, even displaying will become easier not to be tempted.
I dont invest in cards but still find it interesting. I like to open cards with my kids, play the game and let them trade them with their friends. I do like to check values just in case though
Poke oz you're awesome man been watching your videos like crazy you give very fair and calm advice, you advising us not to fomo alone has been a great help! God bless you man 🙏😃
Definitely follow advice. I’ve been sharing the name of your channel. Every time I see someone on Reddit saying “look at my collection, how am I doing?”
Straight up facts. Been in this game years and it's all 💯 facts. Point 4 is key...buy the right set, at the right time at the right price, go all in and stash for 2/3 years then asses price then I usually dig out around the 5 yrs mark to gauge what to do if keeping for the long haul or sell to re invest in something else.
Just playing devil’s advocate but collection boxes have EXTREMELY good track records. The Premium Trainer Collection Box, the Mega Gyarados EX boxes, the Charizard GX Hidden Fates collection boxes etc., There is SO many good collection boxes. Not to mention not every set has booster boxes.
@@pokeoz91 I swear I’m not trying to hate on you. Afterall I wouldn’t watch your videos or spend time replying them if that was the case. I just have to play devil’s advocate so people can see there’s two sides to everything and it’s REALLY hard to make blanket claims about products due to all the exceptions ya know?
For every booster box you collect, buy a blister and crack one of them too. Every case of booster boxes, grab 6 blisters. Then put the box in the closet, get back to life so we can buy the next case.
5. They ensure they have a quality source who sends mint condition products and packed correctly to avoid minimal damage 6. They have logged and track their investments in something like Shiny. 7. They have their investments stored in a place where they have a permanent home ( as appose to moving them / touching them every few weeks). i can come up with more but that'll do.
I do have a good amount of booster boxes. But I also have a crazy of amount of sleeved booster packs that I usually pay 2.99 a piece for. Do you think that's a good investment?
I'm agree with you as booster boxes are the best dollar cost avarage, BUT there will be always the "fake or not" question, because the packaging can be faked, otherwise a 3P blister not reall and I know it's take a lot of place etc etc..... just I wanted to say faking a factor too.
If you collect the full master set, or even just your favourite singles from a set, then you can buy a booster box and leave it sealed. Knowing you've already got all the good cards/your favourite cards from the set it helps not open the booster box.
The only collection boxes I have are 151 boxes. BBs to invest for the long term and I pick and choose bits at the right prices to make a bit over the short term
Have gotten into the game again last month. Currently im mainly a collector, but im trying to get into investing, so your videos are really helpful. Keep up the good Videos man💪
I’m really good at ripping open my favorite sets as time goes on. I’m down two lost origin and two Paldea BB. Hardly anything to show for it. Lesson learned
I collect because I find it fun, I'm okay with not always getting my monies worth. I also keep sealed once I master a set. Just having a sealed collection is boring imo, not to knock anyone who just collects sealed, it's just not for me. I want to master set and the sealed (if it looks good) lol
Can you make a video for kids who collect just to trade and not for money. Like which cards are best to trade and which packs are best to trade for. That's all he does. He finds 20-60 dollar cards and trades them for backs or boxes to open. He gets his dopamine hit from pulls, not money
I bought 3 boxes of ES for around 730 each last week. Debating to buy 2 more since they're relatively low rn, but I wanna get a few more booster bundles of 151.... any advice?
@@monkey39128 it's definitely gonna go up. I don't think like 5k like some people will, but I'm willing to hold onto it for at least 3 years and see if I can double my money or more
I'm not an expert but I think the booster bundle displays are a good idea. 60 packs in the box in total. They're a little big is the only problem, still takes up less room than a couple etb's would though.
I want to get into investing but I also got excited to open packs so this video really brought me back to reality and I don’t know what I’m doing 😂 I’m gonna step back and do my research.
