Warzone ruined call of duty Everything is made for them and everyone who pays for the game gets the left overs. All the stuff you see in modern zombies is mechanics from warzone shoehorned in to make it easier for them to play.
Absofuckinglutely! This is why I stopped playing COD. Warzone is complete trash. Armor on top of armor camping ass garbage. This is what happens when you ditch your proven formula to copy a cartoon game made for children. Some 🤡 s over at Activision.
@@Kaare-The-HeathenI would say the true Downfall was IW. Ghost started a phase of innovation that lasted a few years after the games started to become the same thing every year. But once IW came out... things just went to shit.
Sledge Hammer/Infinity Ward: Well....we're not Treyarch.....Best we can do is Ground Breaking Multiplayer & Campaigns Raven Software: You guys are getting accolades???
the unique atmosphere zombies used to have in waw/bo1 was a fantastic asset. You were attacked by zombies in a disolate worn place and had to gather whatever you could to be able to survive. No weird forced story was impossed it was rather losely implicitely told through in-game objects, quotes, easter eggs and radios. That mad the maps actually interesting. Also the difficulty has been decrease progressively, which makes zombies feel like an uninspiring shooting range
Another amazing thing with old zombies is you could do everything and get wonder weapons without an easter egg for most maps. Easter eggs were optional and rewarded you for the rest of the game only. I know most my friends who i played zombies with growing up from waw to black ops 2 didnt even do easter eggs ever. We just played the game to see what round we could survive to
@@zachintheb0x818I agree with this so much. While I like BO3 zombies, theres just too much going on in my opinion. Waw and BO1 nailed it. You genuinely feel helpless against the hordes. Youre always watching ammo, you’re always having to play smarter, because of the health system. Every map works too. Zombies to me is just about surviving the hordes.
@@zachintheb0x818bro what are you talking about that’s like the one thing about Cold War people enjoy is that it’s kinda like old zombies as in you can just get everything without doing Easter eggs and stuff and you don’t need to watch tutorials everytime and something that sucked about old zombies was only one person could get the wonder weapon
@@ballaxx3150 im talking about how in the old games you didnt have to do parts of or the entire easter egg to get yourself set up to play high rounds or to unlock pack a punch. And in the old games you could get the wonder weapons from the box instead of collecting parts and building them or having to do some easter egg steps to get them. I know some maps from the old games like origins in bo2 you had to assemble the staffs but besides that you could just hit the box for them. And for cold war i know it helps you by listing the current objective and helping you with locating things. I didnt play cold war much or bo4. Maybe its because im nostalgic but i just enjoy and prefer the simplistic hit the box, buy your perks and pack a punch and have fun. If you really are into EE stuff then go ahead and on alot of maps doing that just granted you all perks for free which wasnt necessary for high rounds really
Loadouts, weapon tiers, armor system, salvage, the new point system, all the new features are just proof either the devs hate classic zombies or the wrong people are in charge of it.
Yep especially with games. Whenever I look for new games to play it seems I'm scrolling through steam for hours with no luck. Hardly even look these days
There's nothing I hate more in user interfaces than massive health bars above every enemy. It makes whatever you're playing look like it's made for children.
TikTok survivors need this to keep their attention. Absolutely hated that dying light also put health bars on their zombies. I know it's not a super realistic game but all immersion goes out the fckn window when you have the most unnecessary UI elements imaginable spammed on screen.
that's because it made for brain dead player's who need dopamine every 1.5 nanoseconds it's not like good old zombies waw to bo3 you could even say that zombies went down the drain since bo4
Also adding in basically MANDATORY easter eggs to progress the level instead of just getting a good gun or perks and riding it out. I miss WaW zombies where the most complex thing you had to do was link the teleporters, and that was optional.
@@EpicMerlin yes it was. It was OPTIONAL to pack a punch a weapon. Every area of the map could opened and used. If someone wants to just get a gun from the box and run around they can.
Man I think people kinda have forgotten that in Der Reise you had to use the teleporters and stuff, kino link the pads, origins, motd, and so on. It was always a process but it wasn’t a complicated one. Maybe origins and motd were. But besides that it wasn’t that hard to do. And it was actually fun to do. The last map to do it right was DE in bo3. After that the maps were kinda taking it too far. But the simplicity was gone for good.
Maps like Five, Tranzit and Zetsubou show that even if the map is not amoung the best ones, you still have a reason to replay then once in a while, because of their unique mechanics, unique vibe, atmosphere. The current zombies are all alike, same atmosphere, same mechanics, no personality
@@Astral-Cosmonaut Its a cycle, a new trailer releases, people get mad that something is different and after a while they start to like it. People hated the bugs and apothycons in the SoE trailer and now its one of the fanfavorites
@@Astral-Cosmonaut Nowadays Tranzit is the go to map for your friends to just do random shit. You havent peaked until you've sang "wheels on the bus" while blowing the head of a zombie with a Pped Raygun Mkll
@@allanorme2093 and that do random shit is the most cool part of Tranzit. Because map is big you and your boys can camp in different positions and train zombies. Or just some of your buddies learned RoffleWaffle Easter Egg Guide for Richtofen side and saying "guys let's make Angry German Doctor to secure Aether for himself" and start searching from random shit for tower)
I agree wholeheartedly. I find it very difficult to give a crap about BO6 zombies because I know the salvage system is still there so the gameplay loop is going to be the same as previous games with loadouts etc. A cast of characters isn't going to make that big a difference because the story is ass now. It might be an improvement sure. But it's not going to be the return to form they seem to be promising it will be. Everything past BO3 has been a steady decline into deeper and deeper shit. We really didn't know how good we had it until it was gone. But the good part is the old stuff will always be there to welcome us back with open arms. Another incredible video bro. You're smashing it!
I dunno man. I thought scrap and the new armor system were the only GOOD things to come from new cod. If we get old zombies but with the new systems and omni movement, ill be very happy.
I think that while BO2 zombies was certainly fun and a good game, it started to lack the taste and atmosphere that the first two games had. Like in origins the giant robots seemed a bit ridiculous and overall the quality of gameplay additions started suffering. I gotta say mob of the dead was great though
@@TheMELLOWcheesein my opinion, Black Ops I was peak zombies, and arguably peak call of duty. Everything after BO2 feels very corporatized and done purely to increase shareholder profit. Activision became publicly traded in the SP500 in 2015, which to me is about the time when COD lost all of its charm. Every game after BO3 was shit
What I find interesting is this schism even goes further within the Treyarch offerings. A lot of my irl friends were original era zombies players and they all stopped playing during BO2 because of the Blundell maps. Whereas a lot of my YT colleagues will easily say the BO3 era was peak zombies. It's almost like the problem then of modern vs then classic is some recurring issue for the game mode. And that divide, in terms of now, is even larger and more apparent. But one thing I'll stick by is that we never knew how good we had it back then.
The community has been split throughout the years and I think it’s always bound to happen. At that point, you’d probably have to question how big are the changes we are making. I think a lot of us were excited for Cold War (I was) and then we played it and realized it just wasn’t it. Now we’re going into bo6 knowing what to expect, and a lot don’t like it. Definitely similarities in the eras and backlash from the community, but I truly do think this time it’s different, at least for majority of the fanbase
Old school zombie's you had to find the story and learn the maps to get the whole story and easter egg. Modern zombies youre handed things out the gate and play it like multiplayer with that build a class. Blops 4 started that, where blops 3 started the zombies camo and gun builds. Yet 4 is where i draw the line with zombies. 4 is vastly different from 1-2, yet still had that formula of finding the story and having to learn the maps.
Not a big fan of the new direction of zombies. It doesn’t even feel like zombies anymore. Feels like any other survival game. I miss the horror aspects and all the mystery’s. Miss the days where all the zombie UA-camrs were making videos on Easter eggs and zombies lore. It’ll never be the same
What makes the UI even more baffling is that they are BRINGING ALL OF IT BACK in BO6. They literally did not remove any of it even though NO ONE liked it.
well apparently we can toggle on/off all the HUD elements we don't like which will make a big difference. Although the default HUD looks very generic and uninteresting.
Perfect CoD zombies game has: - No minimap - No hitmarkers - No healthbars - No loadouts - No operators, but a set crew/cast - a good & interisting story (WaW - BO2 was peak story telling - the Ultimis story basicly...). - long, but not tidious EE's, as well as a lot of short and fun side EE's. - as little remakes as possible. - at least 2 Launchmaps + at least 4DLC Maps - No Pay2Win mechanics (gobble gums, etc.) - The classic point-system (starting with a pistol, 5 shots to the leg & 1 knifeattack to maximise points...). - No armor-system - No godmode specialist weapons when you spawn in - no weapon raritys - ... ‐-------------------------------- Lets say it like this: do everything like in the old days and nothing like today... ✌️
Don't forgot mini bosses that give rewards for completing them flawlessly like the bo2 buried witches, jumping jacks from die rise, and ascension monkeys. Make maps both trainable and promote camping. Have a lot of perks to allow for unique combinations. No long convoluted steps to open pack a punch
agreed mostly, i think the loadouts are fine, they just need to be balanced properly, which is technically what the rarity is for, but i very much despise the rarity system in CW and MWZ, vanguard had it right with rarity being tied to pap level. gums is a take em or leave em situation, imma use them, but i get the discourse behind them. and lastly is armor, i don't actually mind armor considering we've had that system in place since ww2 but more so bo4 with that having armor and victorious tortoise which acts as armor as we now know it
Black ops 1 kino der toten and five were my first call of duty zombies experience. I never had money for dlc, but I would spend hours playing solo and scaring the shit out of myself from the eerieness, and I loved it. New zombies feels like a nothing burger. BO3 is my favorite for all of the custom mods and maps. :)
The zombies community doesn’t talk about this but a big part of it is lack of dev talent at cod studios, post bo4 the zombies team and budget is just getting cut cut cut, all the og talented devs either quit or have been laid off, considering how bad he working conditions at cod studios are the employees are cycled in and out very rapidly, there’s no talent retention, whenever you feel like a game is a step back from the last one, it’s cuz the new one is being made by people still learning and starting up, new hires. You can’t make a good zombies mode if the people developing it only learned about it recently
God you hit the nail on the head at 3:11 why the heck do we need to have a UI that said I’m shooting a “zombie” in a zombies game mode?? I also hate the hitmarkers, why would I need to know I hit a zombie when 99.9% of my bullets are known to hit something, heck, even the +10 points per shot in treyarchs games were a good enough indicator that I hit something. I’ve never played the new games because of this
Ascension was always my favorite map, it was new funny quotes and it felt like you had to work hard to get to where you needed to go and Easter eggs of finding songs and kino was fun too, the characters were great when I first played and had to try to figure out which path was better and the guns to pick off the walls
The thing I think they lost in the sauce so to speak was purpose. Five was the way it was is because they asked “what if zombies invaded the pentagon”. And made it work in the time period of the game. Now-a-days, people don’t want to be reminded of the past. They only want to see the future. Whether that future is laden with more mistakes than the past or not, they don’t really care. They just want progress for the sake of progress. Because that’s the only metric everyone agrees is “good”. Not all progress is good, afterall.
10:20 jfk is in bo1s campaign as well as zombies. Seeing campaign stuff in zombies is cool because five was all about imagining the pentagon from the campaign suddenly becoming infested with zombies
It is really hard as a zombies creator, and as a long time (since WAW) fan of the zombies game mode to see where Black Ops 6 has ended up. There wasn't a single thing in this video I didn't agree with and I hope this is shared widely with the zombies community at large because of its validity. Breaks my heart to see on social media the praise that Bo6 is getting for doing the bare minimum. Something being round based does NOT mean that it is classic zombies. Something having gobblegums doesn't make it anything like Black Ops 3. As an "OG" player, round base and gobblegums don't mean anything if the core mechanics of the game are a far cry from *simple* and *immersive* gameplay loop/mechanics. Multiplayer, Warzone, Campaign, and DMZ mechanics should stay in those game modes. In my opinion, the reason newer cod titles in general and especially zombies has been soulless is because nothing is unique. It's a blend of gameplay between game modes. They all feel the same. Zombies was unique. It felt different. It... was different. Now zombies is so similar to warzone with MWZ, so similar to Multiplayer with things like load-outs, and so similar to the campaign with the shared story. It has no soul. There is no difference between game modes! Anyways, Wheezy. I'm so glad you made this video. All of the top zombies creators right now are obviously having to say good things about BO6 because of their business relationship with Treyarch (with them flying out for play tests and what-not). For someone to actually say the truth about what zombies has become is very important. Sucks so bad to see comments on social media saying that "if you don't like CW Zombies or BO6 Zombies then don't play it/go back and play old cods." That is exactly the opposite of what a brand tried to do. A Call of Duty fan should be a fan of CALL OF DUTY! Not just a small subset of classics. "If you don't like Loadouts then just start with a pistol." 😢 OG Players are open to change, and Black Ops 3 is a great example of how change is a great thing for the game mode. We want new, we want different, but more importantly-we want zombies. What it is now.... that's not zombies.
11:51 that right there was a perfect example of atmosphere in zombies. The sound and the look will never be replicated again. That one sound bite was textbook. I get chills thinking about the first time hearing that in black ops 1.
What plays into this too is there is no break from the mode. Infinite Ward would break it up with Spec Ops, Extinction, etc. It gave zombies time to breathe instead of full on fatigue.
@@zaadus112I mean if jamming and forcing features from other modes into a zombies mode without integrating it well is good gameplay and a good sacrifice of actual good maps and feel/immersion then i guess.
@@grannde_ You do know right that most of your opinion comes from nostalgia, and there is nothing I could tell you that would make you think critically?
This video is exactly what I've been saying and thinking. I truly hope BO6 corrects these wrongs. I hate just settling with the changes from Cold War and being like "Well they did some stuff right...". Zombies is such a counter-culture to COD and they should dive further into that aspect.
great video man i really mis that it used to be scary too for me atleast the dark atmoshere and all the weird noises the zombies made or just around the map and that the zombies had for example special moves like dodgeing a bullet or the way they looked and walked/ran now it just least more like oh stander run animation again like the last 5 games or something idk lol,
Tbh, zombies hasn't been the same to me since all the way back in black ops 1, I miss creepy and depressing atmospheres of the old maps and the simplicity of the objectives, I actually cared about the story back then because it was just cool sciencey and illuminati shit. You had to go out of your way to find them and they didn't lock whole game mechanics behind them, it was just lore and mystery which made it feel like actual easter eggs while nowadays the "easter eggs" are mandatory chores if you want to be able to have any fun on the map. I know it never will but I really wish we went back to WAW style zombies and maps.
The problem with modern CoD Zombies is that they try to make it as close to Warzone in feel and gameplay as possible when the perfect movement system was BO3’s, and they are WELL AWARE of how goated BO3 was.
Finally someone else who also thinks that Cold War is trash. Not sure what the big zombie UA-camrs see in that game, but that version of zombies just ain't it
There’s a reason why literally no one returns to cw but everyone returned to cod 1/3 wish the devs would listen and not just ignore everyone like they just know what’s best
My biggest pipedream is that they remake BO4 and give us all the maps we were supposed to get in its lifecycle. I want to see how they truly wanted to end primis, great war and all!
I just want the ammo crates and armor out of bo6 and I'll be completely satisfied. I dunno why they have ammo crates when they could just have ammo related gobble gums instead and just make it to where the carpenter power up stops dropping after a certain round. I'm very glad they're giving us plenty of options with the hud though cuz the hud in cold war was stupid.
I agree 100% on Cold War especially the story and how the mode feels more like Multiplayer with zombie aspects. Scorestreaks, mini-map, UI clutter, and more just make zombies in CW and beyond pale in comparison to older zombie modes. Some things being added and removed in CW from past games also make it feel weird. For example, in CoD black ops II/III, you could craft a shield by searching certain areas of the map and the shield sometimes came with an ability. This was a good way of external protection because you had to search the map and get familiar with it, (and not handheld through it) and it only protected you from getting hit from behind so you still had to be careful. In CW the equivalent was the armor. The armor was such a downgrade because not only were you forced to deal with a popup UI which took you out of the game literally and metaphorically, (easy way to go down) you also had to have the salvage to upgrade/fix it. It gets tiring having to go to the armor stand every couple of rounds just to fix up something that will probably be destroyed after one boss encounter. On top of this armor is a necessary crutch in order to get to somewhat mid-high rounds. Another example would be the create-a-class/loadout system. I'm happy BO6 is finally fixing some part of it but why did they remove the loadout-to-gameplay cross save of gun attachments/skins? Yes, you can save custom mods but that takes you out of the game again. (having to pause the game and such just to do a basic feature) On top of this the loadout has around 10 classes so you have to remove guns, etc., if you want to start with another gun or save a custom mod for a weapon. These features either could've been streamlined better or not implemented at all but because they decided to change things that weren't broken (the least they could do was improve upon it which they seem to be doing in BO6) it made CW seem like a concept of what Zombies in modern day could've been. Anyways, good video!
I really like your video style. The audio mixing and atmosphere are great, and I can see what you’re trying to do with your editing. I enjoy the effort and I can’t wait to see more
Man I gave CW a second chance yesterday and I've gotta tell you its as ass as I remembered, it feels just boring, pointless not fun and just annoying warzone shit everywhere tbh Im convinced we'll never see another peak of zombies ever
I feel like Activision is going to make a tweet saying "please let us have time to complete the game" and then just post a release date a few months after the leak saying it will come out only the next year
I am sometimes playing BO1 and my favourite map is 5. Yes I am damn masochist trying to survive in Pentagon as JFK or Nixon and hell even going more masochistic trying to survive in Pentagon by using sniper rifles (died in 9th round) But my favourite maps are; 5, Kino, Nuketown, Mob, Tranzit and Buried)).
Soo true, this is why everyone is extremely hyped for BO6, because it has a tally mark and they forget about unorganality, weapon rarities, new wonder fizz, Omni movement, characters sucking if you even are a character, etc…
A lot of reasons ui , not a zombies crew to name a few but i also think one big factor is having treyarch do all zombie modes , why can't Activision let other studios do zombies again last year i went back to infinite warfare zombies and got all easter eggs and got ditectors cut and was fun (also big huge thank you for the community for helping me out) cause it felt different. And thats the problem they think everything has to connect between every game, probably due to warzone and the engine being the same dosent help as each zombies mode has very similar styles
I think origins is probably one of my favorite zombies maps of all time. Now when that is said i play to get high rounds and do funny things like first room to challenge myself and i think its annoying that i have to make 15 million items and upgrade them to start "playing" the game for high rounds. I was fully done when they started adding gobble gums and bullet types that oneshot at any round essentially undermining wonder weapons.
"Those who look only to the past, or the present, are certain to miss the future" perfectly sum up this video. I think still to this day, people are so used to BO3 zombies when new changes comes they don't like it. It's like veterans telling kids how war had been in WW2 and saying nowadays wars ain't it. The point is, Devs are trying to make games for new generations too, so it is true it's hit or miss, I mean I was at COD WW2 zombie, but I quite like Cold war, DMZ zombie with new ways to enjoy the games. At least just see how they want to make it interesting, don't be fixated, otherwise what's creativity?
I knew once they added health bars, it would give them a reason to add stronger enemies to tell you how crappy your weapon is, and then the round is filled with these annoying enemies since they have an excuse because of visible health bars
I totally agreed about the assemble cast. I remember in shadow of evil, you can play Diane Kruger, Jeff Golblum or even Ron Perlman. I mean you feel badass killing zombies as Ron Perlman, Michael Madsen or Ray Liotta (Mob of the dead). And the origin intro set up the map so well. Some avenged sevenfold before being Dempsey
I'd argue that having a 2-3 year gap was part of what made the old games do well. The gap gave the game time to breath and actually made the community hungry for the next big release. it also helped thy had actual time to develop the mode and not rush it.
my little cousin plays zombies, when i heard abt this i was pretty exited since i used to play bo1 nd waw zombies, we got to talking and eventually he said he’d show me how he plays, he said it got boring and eventually just quits after about 15 minutes with pretty high rounds, when i was his age i’d only get to about like 15-22, and i never once quit a game if i didn’t die. they live in a different world man, i js b getten old n sht
Fundamentally, i think that new zombies hasn't introduced anything that feels unique or fun, but I will say I do enjoy having progression in zombies which is something the new games have introduced.
It's like someone who's never eaten bacon before, tries it for the first time and it's already been chewed up and spit out by someone else, but they don't know that, they think "Wow bacon is great" and then we come along and go "no no trust me it was way better before" and they get mad at you for telling them they're wrong. Eventually you just give up and say "Alright buddy you enjoy yourself"
I’d easily rather play WaW,Black Ops, BO2, or BO3 zombies over any other more current rendition of zombies. Especially Black ops 1. Such a classic. BO2 and 3 expanding zombies in ways I enjoyed extremely even to this day.
I still returning to Mob of the Dead or Origins to play some solo zombies in BO2. Hell even trying to solo beat Richtofen side of Easter egg in Tranzit)
I think its also worth considering that the graphics genuinely have not improved that much from BO1 to modern day. They always make such a huge deal over graphics being better but I just don't see it.
It's funny because I remember playing Black Ops back in the day wishing there were aspects of single and multiplayer added into zombies. For example, skill streaks, being able to climb onto and vault over objects etc, but then I grew up and realised it wouldn't make any sense and would ruin what zombies is. That's not to say there aren't features which could work. For example, being able to make a player be on a different team and deal damage like with Weasel on Mob of the Dead.
The people who like these new UI features are the same kind of people who like to be coddled and have their hand held through everything. One of the major aspects of the zombie games back then that is missing today is the sense of grit. There was a sense of mystery to everything you do. One great example is the panzer enemy. You can tell if it was dying when you see its condition visually deteriorate. Also, less is more. I'm talking more than just the kill counter and health bars (shouldn't be there in the first place, wayyyy too arcadie) I'm talking about way points, objectives, all of it. Also, none of the stuff should be optional so that way everyone has that same unique experience otherwise youre tempted to not turn off the features for the sake of practicality rather than for the sake of immersion. No player should be put in that position...
I’m a real cod veteran , joined the army at cod 4 and got honorably discharged after cod BO3 , I recovered some years ago and thought about joining the force again , but I just couldn’t adjust to it, it’s nothing like it used to be , might as well play Fortnite . I miss the old COD’s, damn I miss y’all , yeah I suffer from ptsd but you know what I’ll do it all over again just to relive the older COD’s 😢
I’d rather play solo Tranzit on my old PS3 for the 1000th time than play on any of the Cold War maps that I only ever played a few times. Purely because of health bars, box rarities, operators and class setups.
Heres how they fix it No plates No salvage No kill feed Make the hud unique to the mode Make the maps unique to the modes No loadouts Make it round based Dont hold hands in the easter eggs
My first cod was bo1. That being said, I fucking love Cold War zombies. Despite the soulless operators and the stupid crossover with the campaign characters, I didn’t really mind with starting with my own weapon. I liked the maps, the wonder weapons were cool and I quite liked the salvage system. For me, I think they kept enough of the old elements of cod zombies while bringing in new ones. It was like a fresh take on classic zombies. I do agree with your thoughts on the HUD being clustered with random pieces of information. In regard to MW3 zombies I’ve prolly put maybe less than 10 hours into the game, it’s very uninteresting. Good video bro.
Because they were unfortunately not able to experience what made the old zombies just plain better so since they only had Cold War experience they think it’s just better when it’s a mid through and through nothing good nothing terrible
Playing zombies today has such clustered interface, and they've gone more in the direction of power fantasy, instead of survival. It lost its soul when it began to become more about buying all the perks you can, and getting the strongest weapons. Back when it was just a few perks, you always had your staple necessities like the original 4 perks. Every zombies player goes for at least 2 of those 4 perks as their first buy. But the dev teams started to give us more amd more stuff to play with, and instead of keeping that 4 perk cap, they decided to let us find ways to get more. In a lot of cases it lets you have ALL of them, on their respective map without having done all the steps of the easter egg. So instead of being emersed in the environment and the horror of the undead coming from wherever, and surviving wave after wave, like it was designed as originally, it quickly became about getting the strong guns, getting the wonder weapons from the box, getting and all the perks you can get as quickly as possible. And the new idea of having loadouts just takes away from that further, because instead of starting with a basic pistol and a knife, and working your way to better things by counting your shots in early rounds and maximizing points to open up the map, and get better equipment. You can jump in round 1 and have a preset loudout of whatever, and decimate anything from the start. There is no tension. And map easter eggs started as a way to tell a narrative, and the setting of the map way usually deliberately thought out to reflect some real world thing that happened at those locations where the map was set in. But they were fantasized in the fasion of zombies, and the real world places they were set to be in usually had some mysterious or gruesome thing that happened there in the real world to make a compelling narrative. Now they just toss you in a place that may or may not have some historical significance, or it may not exist at all. Instead of there being a cool real world mystery to link with the zombies narative, they just put you in a make believe location that doesnt exist on any map, or they do put you in a real world location, but there isnt any kind of mysterious history to the place, that would lend to the creepy aspect of zombies. Zelinsky had a pretty defined idea of zombies after it got greenlit, and it was made official. Cyphers, real locations with creepy histories, a story of a crazy German doctor, and his test subjects. Unfolding a mystery of the zombie outbreak a peace at a time though little things. But after Jason Blundel took lead after Dave left, it went down the crapper quick. They decided to streamline the story into zombies, so there is no mystery anymore, they tell it to you with evey opening cutscene, the "easter egg" of the map, which we may as just well call the story, because even if you're just playing for rounds, you'll inadvertently do at least 25-80% of the easter egg steps per map, just by goofing around, and wanting the fun strong weapons to play with. Old zombies story was more like Dark Souls, in the respect that it has a really cool and in depth story for those who look into it, but at its surface, it was accessible to anyone who doesn't care about story, and just wanted to challenge themselves with immersive and challenging gameplay.
Ww2 zombies was the last zombies I actually enjoyed idc if people were hating on it looking back the new stuff they added was pretty dope they kind of dropped the ball near the end as far as the 3 dlc but hey people don’t appreciate what they got until it’s gone
it really hurts my soul they just abandoned the core audience of zombies, like if people like this new shit let them have it, but jesus christ give us what we want as well, i dont understand why they just hate the people that made them who they are today.

the unique atmosphere zombies used to have in waw/bo1 was a fantastic asset.

If you really are into EE stuff then go ahead and on alot of maps doing that just granted you all perks for free which wasnt necessary for high rounds really
the loadout system is like launching a new minecraft survival game and having the ability to choose a weapon and a full set of armour

Also adding in basically MANDATORY easter eggs to progress the level instead of just getting a good gun or perks and riding it out. I miss WaW zombies where the most complex thing you had to do was link the teleporters, and that was optional.

- The classic point-system (starting with a pistol, 5 shots to the leg & 1 knifeattack to maximise points...).
- No armor-system
- No godmode specialist weapons when you spawn in
- no weapon raritys
- ...

I agree with everything you said. Although I do like the gobble gums in bo3. But everything else is spot on.
Don't forgot mini bosses that give rewards for completing them flawlessly like the bo2 buried witches, jumping jacks from die rise, and ascension monkeys. Exactly. The simpler the better just like the best zombie bo1
agreed mostly, i think the loadouts are fine, they just need to be balanced properly, which is technically what the rarity is for, but i very much despise the rarity system in CW and MWZ, vanguard had it right with rarity being tied to pap level. gums is a take em or leave em situation, imma use them, but i get the discourse behind them. and lastly is armor, i don't actually mind armor considering we've had that system in place since ww2 but more so bo4 with that having armor and victorious tortoise which acts as armor as we now know it
Black ops 1 kino der toten and five were my first call of duty zombies experience. I never had money for dlc, but I would spend hours playing solo and scaring the shit out of myself from the eerieness, and I loved it. New zombies feels like a nothing burger. BO3 is my favorite for all of the custom mods and maps. :)
Things also had a meaning, for example wall buys and perks, there was a reason why they were in every map
When u say they u mean corporations and their investors not actual fans of cod because already tired the futuristic shit and it failed miserably
Very well done video, it was difficult for me to put into words how I felt about modern zombies, but this says it all perfectly.
10:20 jfk is in bo1s campaign as well as zombies. Seeing campaign stuff in zombies is cool because five was all about imagining the pentagon from the campaign suddenly becoming infested with zombies
Modern zombies in comparison to the older ones are indeed soulless…
VERY well said! I'm glad someone could articulate the "warzone" in Zombies today.
Your video was spot on
I have just downloaded all bo1 and bo2 dlc for the first time and I can confirm: holy shit it’s fire 🔥 (best zombie experience)
"If you don't like Loadouts then just start with a pistol." 😢
OG Players are open to change, and Black Ops 3 is a great example of how change is a great thing for the game mode.
Me looking at BO4: “Perhaps I treated you too harshly.”
What plays into this too is there is no break from the mode. Infinite Ward would break it up with Spec Ops, Extinction, etc. It gave zombies time to breathe instead of full on fatigue.
zombies original theme and “fetch me their souls” have more magic to them than all modern zombies games😢
its almost like, hear me out on this, that modern zombies is going for gameplay over atmosphere.
@@zaadus112I mean if jamming and forcing features from other modes into a zombies mode without integrating it well is good gameplay and a good sacrifice of actual good maps and feel/immersion then i guess.

great video man i really mis that it used to be scary too for me atleast the dark atmoshere and all the weird noises the zombies made or just around the map and that the zombies had for example special moves like dodgeing a bullet or the way they looked and walked/ran now it just least more like oh stander run animation again like the last 5 games or something idk lol,
Tbh, zombies hasn't been the same to me since all the way back in black ops 1, I miss creepy and depressing atmospheres of the old maps and the simplicity of the objectives, I actually cared about the story back then because it was just cool sciencey and illuminati shit.
This is by far my one of my favourite channels!

oh hell yeah im glad i get to see this video either way
I wouldn’t mind another survival type map like town or farm or bus depot.

COLD WAR + MODERN WARFARE 3 = BLACK OPS 6 There's nothing new.

Facts 💀
I’d easily rather play WaW,Black Ops, BO2, or BO3 zombies over any other more current rendition of zombies. Especially Black ops 1. Such a classic. BO2 and 3 expanding zombies in ways I enjoyed extremely even to this day.
I still returning to Mob of the Dead or Origins to play some solo zombies in BO2. Hell even trying to solo beat Richtofen side of Easter egg in Tranzit)
I think when Resurrection dropped for Black Ops 1, that was the peak of zombies
I guess Activision has never heard of "if it ain't broke don't fix it"
I’m a real cod veteran , joined the army at cod 4 and got honorably discharged after cod BO3 , I recovered some years ago and thought about joining the force again , but I just couldn’t adjust to it, it’s nothing like it used to be , might as well play Fortnite .
Purely because of health bars, box rarities, operators and class setups.
so you cant understand simple mechanics????
the game is made for five year olds and you cant understand it????
Heres how they fix it
No plates
No salvage
No kill feed
Make the hud unique to the mode
Make the maps unique to the modes
No loadouts
Make it round based
Dont hold hands in the easter eggs
what do you mean "make it round based"?? it's been round based since WaW. you doofus with no brain cells don't know what you're talking about
so make it boring again, ok :)
IM NOTA CROOK IM NOTA CROOK IM NOTA CROOK🗣️🗣️
Eeeny, meeny, mighty, SHOTGUN!
I remember when you would be considered a too tier zombies player if you got to round 15/20 back in WaW. I miss those times.
I just realized zombies have health bars in the newer games, WHY TF DO THEY HAVE HEALTH BARS????
modern zombies storylines feel like a fan mod trying keep the story going after the original creators finished it
Why is this so hard to understand for modern zombie players...
Wait WW2 have zombies?
If Five released today it would have operators on it and the community WOULD DEFEND IT. I do not understand why the community defends this shit.
Because they are the brain dead Warzone/MP community, they don't know any better
We just want BO1/2/3 back… how is it possibile they just can’t replicate such simpler experiences
it really hurts my soul they just abandoned the core audience of zombies, like if people like this new shit let them have it, but jesus christ give us what we want as well, i dont understand why they just hate the people that made them who they are today.
