Put cattle panels up on t-posts, 4-5 feet off the ground, parallel to the ground, just a few at irregular angles for the turkeys to 'hide' under. Stringing wires, crisscrossing the area so the Hawks have no clear flight path in without having something to dodge. They won't risk it.
Chris and I are so glad you and the family like the collars. Now time to do some goat wrangling! Someone needs to film you trying to put all of the collars on them. That should be very entertaining 😂. The baby pigeons are awesome.
You can generally use any pair you want to foster the babies. Just make sure the foster parents aren't too much bigger or smaller, and make sure the foster parents have a longer beak type. The best way is to switch eggs. The eggs need to have been laid on nearly the same days though, otherwise the foster parents won't have the crop milk ready at the right time. Switching babies is harder. Some parents won't accept new ones or extras. And size differences between squabs can be a big problem with the bigger ones out competing for food. 2 days age difference can be too much in many cases. Give it a shot though if fancy breeds are having issues raising their babies.
Great videos Bro.. Keep in mind pigeons need to bath at least once a week.. I've heard it helps them distress and relax.. Find something not too deep fill it up with water and watch them wash the stress away..
Make the turkeys something out in the pasture to hide under. A tepee out of slash or pallets. Also hawks hunt with their eyes so cds and reflective things are great to hang around. Love your channel!
In my experience with Indian Fantails, Homers, and Runt Pigeons. It's a fifty fifty when it comes to hatched babies being fostered and it usually depends on how fresh of a hatch the bird is. The older the baby, the more likely they'll kick it out or kill it.
Another good video Jordan pigeons are really coming along good turkeys are growing fast. It's a shame that Hawk got one but that's kind of Nature's Way. Anyway thank you for sharing peace out
Another great video bud👍, it's much harder to swap eggs than chicks? It can be done? But evan harder with fancy breeds, I'd try the eggs you might be surprised?
Putting the baby in the neat may work but the 2 eggs in the ferel loft you could put the modena egg in there the ferels will still raise the modena baby even tho the young will have different ages
I'm putting my 2 sence in to it did u see him if not from the looks of it ik cat like animals always pretty much only eat the head I've never seen one eat anything else but the head so u still may wanna keep a check out if u did not see a hawk
If you fly your feral pigeons it'll keep the hawks busy. The killer might have a taste for Turkey now though. We used to catch hawks that try eat our birds and give them a new postal code.
Jordans Harvest LOL I use an in and an out funnel like on a trap. That seems to keep all the preditors out. Providing the funnel is located in a place where cats and other climbers can't get to. I don't feed my loft with funnels. They find they're own food, they just nest here.
I used my feral pigeon to raise my fancy pigeon chick along with it's own chick and it whent fine I just added the fancy chick to the nest and the feral fostered it
Why dont u buy a chicken water it works just fine for pigeons my pigeons use it fine and i have no problem with it it will make it where they cant bath in it

I’ll have to get something done like that for sure

The kids are so pumped about picking a collar! I think with a little grain I can con them into cooperating😁
Definitely don’t move the Madina eggs to that cold feral nest !
You’ll wind up with a funky cold Madina egg!😂😂😂
LoL! You had me on the hook 100%
That's just funny!

Thanks so much for the info!
Love the Videos!! Please keep them coming
make a walking area on those beames in the big loft so you can see the nests i have done is in my loft
I like that idea!
Try to run some line over your Turkey pin to deter the hawks when they swoop down
Great videos Bro.. Keep in mind pigeons need to bath at least once a week.. I've heard it helps them distress and relax.. Find something not too deep fill it up with water and watch them wash the stress away..
Thanks! I’ll be sure to keep that in mind!
You should build a smaller scale set up like the pheasant farm
I would love to! I just need more land
If you foster you need at least 11 days for surrogacy parents to get ready to feed babies. Also 3 S's for that hawk.
🤔🤫 thanks for the info
Do try the fostering! Always curious to see if you'd get more eggs and more offspring off birds you like.
I think I’m going to give it a try!

Good ideas! Thanks!
Good video. The predator prob needs fixed soon. Hate to have losses.
Keep on keeping on
Thanks Moore!
I hope I can find a solution soon
If you do anything with pumpkin seeds you should make a video on that
🤔🤔🤔
Great video Jordan you and Bobby are going to have to go goose hunting sometime
I about can’t wait till dark geese open here!!!

Thanks Paul!
It’s amazing to me how quick some birds grow
Netting over the top like the farm with the pheasant farm you have done several videos at.
That would work but would be very expensive
Nice farm there Jordan 👍
Thank you!
Heck ya Jordan upload let's go
👍👍🤙
Mr. Jordan do you have German Beauti Homers Pigeons ?
Another great video bud👍, it's much harder to swap eggs than chicks? It can be done? But evan harder with fancy breeds, I'd try the eggs you might be surprised?
Thanks!
I might just give it a try and see what happens
When you move the babies, you have to do it at night so then the parents don’t notice that you’re putting a different baby with them
Putting the baby in the neat may work but the 2 eggs in the ferel loft you could put the modena egg in there the ferels will still raise the modena baby even tho the young will have different ages

What about getting an incubator and put it in your house? Also out of curiosity how many square feet is your big loft?
Unfortunately hand feeding isn’t an option at this point.
I’m not sure how many sq feet it is. 170ish?
Great stuff as always
Thanks dude!
I'm putting my 2 sence in to it did u see him if not from the looks of it ik cat like animals always pretty much only eat the head I've never seen one eat anything else but the head so u still may wanna keep a check out if u did not see a hawk
I watched the hawk leave the carcass
Oh ok I just had never seen a hawk take out the head like that but thx good to no tho

That’s how I ended up with an empty loft last year! LoL.

Not to be rude but have you named a pigeon Leon yet
You can shoot a hawk or eagle if they go after your poultry
I’ve heard that but I’m going to check with wildlife and parks to make sure
@@JordansHarvest good idea
Nice farm,
Thanks!
Nice video bro 👍👍
Thanks dude!
Yay pigeon video
🤙
Harder to swap chicks than eggs🤔? I Think you know what i ment😂
Oops lol
Great vid jordan
Thanks Kane!
@@JordansHarvest all gd
You should get homers!
Someday!
Dont ferals have homing ability or am i missing something?
How much feed do you go through a day for all these birds and turkeys ?
More than I would like. I’m using close to a ton a month
Cheap.. 😖
How do u get all of the pin feathers out of your turkeys?
It’s my job! Lol
Well yeah but what do you find is the easiest way to do it?
Get a owl statue and a owl call cause hawks will not want to go where a bigger bid of prey is
Thanks for the info!
I used my feral pigeon to raise my fancy pigeon chick along with it's own chick and it whent fine I just added the fancy chick to the nest and the feral fostered it
👍 thanks
You raise goats, will you raise sheeps in the future? I thought goats and sheeps are usually eat grasses only.
I’ll probably stick with just goats
Are you ever going to let the pigeons out train them to the loft
Truthfully, it unlikely. I did that a couple years ago and between the hawks, hunters, and city birds I lost them all.
Hawkes dont like to go after anything black you can get different color turkey next year maybe that helps you a lot
Might try that! 🤔
Because they can’t tell the difference between turkey vulture and black turkey
Put a owl statue
I’ll look into that!
When the eggs hatch dont put them in the same nest because they will have there parents sent on them and the ferrels will reject them
Thanks!
Get some rollers
I want to so bad!
Hi my name is Cassie i want you to get homeing pigeons it will be the best for all your videos
I’m on it!
@@JordansHarvest ok do it is the best
Hi
Hello
how are they feral?
Some of the birds in that loft are wild caught
Put the the eggs with the ferall write now because they are way better parent they a tame pigeon
I just might do that
Crows keeps hawks and birds of prey away from the turkey
Really! I’ve never heard of that
Why dont u buy a chicken water it works just fine for pigeons my pigeons use it fine and i have no problem with it it will make it where they cant bath in it
I’ve thought about it, I kinda like the dyi stuff though
Hi it won't do eney harm
👍
You have to do it at night
pigeon need son light
👍
It won’t work they will know because a baby they didn’t hatch themselves
Please use the collars on dogs not goats. It is making a huge unnecessary risk at their expence.
now about pigeons
keep the fancy with the fancy so you can breed fancier ones you kinda genetic purifying
I really want to keep my fancys pure for sure
no no no no
Swap eggs but not babies they wont feed them
Good to know!
HERE I AM AGAIN FROM PH :)
Awesome!
Or make it dirty
