The part with the cop is probably one of the most underrated moments. It was a brief moment of comedy in an otherwise fun crazy thriller

Jimmy looks down the hall, which is strewn with dead bodies, takes off his cop hat (using his gun hand), "You working again?" A-mazing.

The noise compliant was probably someone who kinda knew about John Wick, and the cop is one on a list that specifically checks if anything related to that address crops up.

What's really interesting is how Officer Jimmy slowly and deliberately takes off his police cap before he asks if John is back to "working" again. It's a great and subtle way to let the audience know that the person asking that question isn't "Officer Jimmy" anymore, but "Underworld Agent Jimmy". He's indirectly asking if he'll need to cover something up for John.

Nah, he remove his hat to make it offbooks but he's a real cop. It is established (Forgot the source sorry) that the police wont interfere with the killer stuff if they dont involve innocents 😁

Yes that cop taking his hat off was letting Jon know he wasn’t asking as a cop and was going to cover for him . That small line
“ I’ll leave you be then “ Jon knew he would not say anything and the cop knew Jon would not kill him later to have no witnesses.
So much with so little dialog . Almost like the “oh” scene .

It's also possible he was covering up his bodycam with his hat, presuming he's wearing one.
But yeah, I actually have a theory as to how John, who has mythical status in that world, somehow needed the permission of Viggo, a mobster not even on the High Table, to retire.
I think John worked for whoever paid, which was sometimes Viggo, since John lived locally, but when he wanted to retire in New York, he needed the 'protection' of a local crime boss whose territory he was retiring in. So he asked Viggo, Viggo's task for him was probably to kill all of Viggo's local rivals, and John retired in Viggo's territory, and Viggo ensured that the local authorities always had someone on the payroll answer calls to John's house.
The local precinct probably has a rotation of guys Continental-affiliated who specifically answer calls to certain addresses.

I like to imagine that when the cop heard he had to go to John Wick's house for a noise complaint, he dragged himself to his door as slowly as possible, while mentally preparing to die on the spot. When he left, he probably bolted out of his property as fast as humanly possible.

I kind of think they know each other a bit, like Jimmy has heard of Baba Yaga, but mostly he knows John and his wife from the neighbourhood. Maybe he's been to a dinner party or something, but he's always had an idea in the back of his mind that John is a DANGEROUS guy, and now he's seen the proof.

@@johnhightower6881 It's rather easy to know when the landline's been tapped by a third party. There's a click or pop and there might be an echo. It used to be very annoying to be on the phone for legitimate reasons and someone else in the house picks up another phone and there's a drastic change in sound quality. Tapping is similar but much less obvious. On mobile phones it's almost impossible to notice.

What I like about Charlie is that he knows just how messy john can be if it's unavoidable and gets big business from him but since john left he probably still had business but probably not much business in one night. Like john would call and say who knows how big of a number for the night/day. Or small number just consistently through a week. Which is why he asked if he will be hearing anything from john he missed his business.

I am surprised people are shocked by this. Crime scene cleanup is a big business, and there are plenty of private companies that specialize in cleaning up grisly murder scenes. It is a lot more common than most people realize.

Yeah, but said companies are legal and employed by local authorities, not hitmen and criminal syndicates. If that was the case in real life, I assure you there would not be so many corpses lying around in New York.

I love how the cop sees a feckin corpse from the doorway and doesn't give a sh!t... to be fair if I was in the cops shoes and knew how lethal John was I would've done the same thing... He's not an individual to mess with, it was obviously a home invasion, I would just leave him be
