I'm not exactly a vocal expert, but is it true that it's rare to find a thick classical voice that whistles? It's so awesome to see how far she has gone since this concert. I heard this song sung in a refreshing disco mode and the singer captured the note beautifully and that to me speaks to originality. Shanice did it again in 2006 and that speaks to vocal ability. I suggest you take a listen to see where I'm coming from. I wud also like you to point me to an instant in which Lani sung it in a more conventional manner. Then I will believe she is able to execute the whistle in a more colourful tone.
if you compared her whistle register when she was laying down and when she got up. that was because it was easier to do it while sitting up or standing. :)
JellyJellyBean, is that directed at me? Let the record show that I never said it was a bad performance. She sounded VERY nice; all I said was that the last note was not singing, it was a scream...it was all in her throat and not in her diaphragm. IT DID SOUND GOOD, but it was more of a scream.
Ms. Misalucha did a clear, classy, relaxing and soothing version of Loving You. It was full of range;It had depth then it went high. One thing, her belting is never irritating.
It's foolish of you to complain why Lani sang the song in a lower key. It's like saying that if a dramatic mezzo-soprano (low- and big-voiced female singer) would sing this song, she should sing it in the original key. The point is, Minnie Riperton has a unique style and range. Lani has her own unique style as well. There's no big problem in her singing here except the pauses in her vibrato in her whistle.
i love lani she's the only Filipino artist whose album i'd actually buy. I'm not saying that as a put down sa iba but i think a lot of other singers are over-rated in the sense that they're given more attention and exposure than what's due their talent. unfortunately for a country he enjoys looking at a young pretty face onscreen, kahit magaling kung di kagandahan napupunta nalang sa background.
