Praise for a very clear tutorial. But having to manually recreate a large piece of the Windows folder system just to store the content of just *one* program... This is one of the least user-friendly things I've yet seen in serious commercial software.

All you need is a folder that has the exact name at its root : My DAZ 3D Library. If you don't plan to create and share your own content you could change that name, but if you plan to share presets, custom morphs, etc then it's necessary to keep that name identical. But then, adding your folder(s) X:\My DAZ 3D Library, and Y:\Work\My Files\My DAZ 3D Library (just examples) is ultra useful, and not just for "one" program. Having different libraries added in Daz3D and in DIM, you can install packages in different hard drives/cloud drives, prevent storages from being full of bundles, and speed up tremendously loading times by unlinking temporary some libraries you don't need.
It's very useful, not super user friendly ;) But useful.

Can you do the same in the new Daz central?

Thanks, but I got to the point of clicking on the ellipsis button (...) to choose a different drive and DIM crashes. Using a Mac running High Sierra. Not going to do a crash/bug report because every single one never, ever, gets solved and I just "live with the issue." Or unless there's an update which (usually unannounced) solved the issue. But props on the tutorial. It's clear, concise and narrated very well. Good job on the video, if only the software matched it.

Can you add content to an external drive?

It doesn't have to be the original paths... You can change it to anything, providing it exists and has enough space.

Yeah I was wondering about that. Seemed abit dumb. And instead of showing it on a standard D or X drive it is being shown using onedrive, which will probably confuse some people into thinking they must have that to change the path,
