A big round of applause for your courage! I’m 64 with 3 late 20s daughters. I’ve worked in corporate my entire working life; we didn’t have a lot of options when I was in my 20s. I’ve encouraged my daughters to switch careers when and if they are not enjoying them; life is a series of zigs and zags. Do it when you’re young. As a famous hockey player once said: “you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”.
I just did this too. I quit a job (dream job) that I worked so hard for and ended up in a deep depression. But since I left my mental health has gotten better. Life is about constantly figuring it out and that will come with making mistakes and learning from them.
The hardest part of quitting for me was detaching my identity and self worth from my job title or the company I worked for...I'm glad you made the right decision. You got this!
@tapiocapress thanks you. That’s the same for me as well. I’m sure it’s the same for anyone because sometimes we spend so much time doing this job and one of the first things people ask us when they meet us is “what do you do for work” We’re so used to doing the same habit that it naturally becomes part of us that is hard to shed off if it doesn’t feel right. Take care!
I've always known innately that founding your identity on a job is a mistake. I was born to eat and breathe, talk to people and move my body, I wasn't born to make other people money.@@tapiocapress
You are not alone! I had what I thought was my dream job, and before a year had even passed I was so burnt out and miserable and hating my life. They had a mass layoff after 9 months and I was so grateful when I found out that I had been impacted. It was like the universe had answered my prayers
I never comment. I just found this video, and I related enough to click on it. I'm a 33 year old solo mum of two. I quit my 6 figure corporate job 2 years ago to be home with my girls. I took a year off, and now I'm working casually in a creative job I love. Money is tight, but we get by, and now my time is spent with my children and pursuing my creative passions. No more burnout. No more juggling. It will work out for you, just keep doing what you're doing. You've already done the hardest thing 😉 xx
Thanks for sharing this, Evelyn. I'm also 29, I'm a lawyer, and I don't exactly love what I'm doing so I totally understand you when you say that you used to feel drained and unable to produce content after working 8 hours every day at your day job. I'm so happy for you that you're putting yourself out there now. Please be assured that I'll continue to watch your videos because they are really inspiring in their own unique way. Keep it up! :)
Thank you so much!! I have been loving a UA-cam channel called @emandlloyd lately, they are a lawyer couple who just quit law to explore their own careers in Hong Kong…if you haven’t come across their content before you might find it interesting!
I quit my job as lawyer too! Have been a tutor for 2 years and things worked out well! Hope this gives you some motivation and assurance that things will be okay 😊
A lawyer from the Caribbean here..hi colleagues. 😊 I haven't quit my job just yet...the responsibilities are too much at this point but one day...if the Lord wills it, I will. All the best to those who've made the bold move to pursue purpose...that's a privilege and a blessing. 🎉
Before you go and quit, please understand that most careers we will likely never truly enjoy because we not only are working for money, but are usually working for someone else. I work in IT, but ever since I was a kid I wanted to be an artist and it's been a constant regret that I never went down that path. However...after following a great artist on twitch and hearing about the day to day corporate life even when you are an artist!...was an absolute drag and I knew for sure if I was an artist working for a company it would absolutely remove any sense of joy or fun that I've always had when it comes to making art.
OMG The fact that you had 8k subscribers when you filmed this, and now only 2 weeks later, You've almost DOUBLED! Like yes girl!!! Affirmation that you made the right choice!!! This is my first time seeing you and *subscribed*
A day after it's 20,400+. This is my first time seeing her video. I felt less lonely or alone having watched this. She's doing an awesome thing being herself. Congrats
As someone who is also preparing to quit their corporate job what you said at the end was so reassuring.. just like you said, doing something everyday that is just taking energy and not really adding value to your life makes me feel so drained at the end of the week... I'm so glad I'm not the only one who feels that way.. sending lots of good vibes your way✨
Make sure you save enough before you do! I didn’t 😢. I went from banking to starting my own gardening business. I didn’t get any customers for most of the season, but now things are picking up. It’s the freedom you have that’s important, BUT, you have to, at the start, work harder than you ever have, until things get going. I can’t tell you the amount of times I almost…gave up…yeah, THAT giving up…
yes but working for yourself is so rewarding cause you know all the effort you put is coming back to your lil pocket. instead of the management or owners @@JohnM...
I find people being more transparent about finances these days very refreshing and helps me a lot with my relationship with money ❤️❤️ you got this girl 🥰💫💫
I finally quit my job after realizing I was choosing money over my happiness. The only reason I was staying was because every year my salary was increasing and I was doubting I would ever make the same amount of money. But my life was passing me by and I didn’t have a single moment of memory besides having kids and working during those years. I feel like the US is the only place where if you don’t work your whole life changes and we choose money over living. You got this and like I tell my sister take your time and don’t rush into another job. Find a job you truly love.
so proud of you!!! i’m an artist and quit my job recently to pursue art full time. the burnout that you described is so real. it’s so scary to quit a job without really knowing what will happen. and as of now i’m only making a lil money off my art, definitely not enough to live off of. i have savings but what you mentioned about the self doubt is so real. i worry all the time that i’m gonna blow through my savings and have achieved nothing. however i know realistically i need to give this everything i’ve got and even if i don’t make it to the point of being able to do it full time, i’ll be way further than i was. thank you for sharing this video!
As someone in a similar spot as you, you’ve got this!! Making money is another skill you can and will get better at! Keep finding creative ways to share what you make and people will support you ❤
I quite my job at the end of 2019 and went all in to my creative work as a voice teacher and artist. The opportunities, friendships and ventures that spawned from that decision made it one of the best decisions I ever made. Honor what your body is telling you! I applaud you realizing that burnout is not living. We can’t create in survival mode. Wishing you the best! ❤🎉
Fellow ex-employee from big 4 and holyfrick the burnout you feel goes all the way down into your bones. It was something that was so difficult to explain to others around me because they would just ask 'but why... you work more than us, sure, but you have the rest of your day after that?' I quit, changed jobs and ended up in a even worse burnout elsewhere and am now doing the unemployment dance and contemplating content creation. Thank you for sharing your journey so far, it really hit home and has been super inspiring!
Hahahahaha at the unemployment dance. I feel you, i felt miserable working 9 to 5 as a newbie accountant. Decided to quit and I am looking into modelling and maybe online business. May the universe align us in the right direction🙏
I just wanna address how polite she is and gracious. You exude so much light and I wanna say thank you, thank you for assuring me there is very nice ppl in the world, thank you for being an unintentional example of a great human being. So super humble, and so thankful to have ran across your video this afternoon 🫶🏽
I quit my job 2 years ago. You touched on so many of the thoughts I have daily. Still figuring out what I want to do next and dealing with motivation issues now. But I have a few incomes from odd and end jobs that keeps me floating.
I’m in the same spot. I’m really trying to grow the streams I’m most passionate about, selling art prints and portrait photography. I just feel so foggy and unmotivated but I’m fighting through it! Just got my art prints in another business and am putting them in another tomorrow! The biggest thing that’s helped me is journaling. I try to write 3 pages a day in my journal and it’s really helped me sort out my thoughts and true wants in life. I have one page I’ve been dumping “All the things I would do if I had the time” and just looked back at it after a month. Some things I wanted to do so badly I’d written them multiple times without noticing. Things become clearer when you can see the underlying messages you write to yourself. I took the journaling habit more seriously when I started the “Artist’s Way” book, it’s a good read/workbook for creative expression and growth.
This takes so much courage. I'm a fellow corporate worker (engineering manager) for a good 20 years, and I can tell you most of us dream of taking this type of step but just don't have the courage or the mindset to do it. Thanks for giving us a glimpse of your life and what it might look like, your outlook is fantastic and inspiritational!
From a fellow Amazonian I too took a chance and gave up the tech world to focus on being a Realtor. I hope you find this next stage of life to be rewarding. I’m wishing you the best.
Just subscribed. I think the "quitting job" thing is both extremely stressful but also courageous so I think you're really brave to try to follow your dreams. Most people don't understand that life is short and if you don't do things that make you feel alive, there's no point to it. Good luck and hope you achieve everything you want! 😊
I've been watching UA-cam for years and making my own videos for years too. I am 100% sure that you will make a living off of UA-cam. Your content is interesting to watch and it has a flow. Your editing is very good and keeps the audience watching and engaged. You got this ❤
Hi! I just quit my corporate job a few months ago and gave myself the space to figure out what is next. I still have no clue a few months later and often find myself re-applying to the same type of jobs I had before. However, your videos give my hope and remind me that my identity is SOOOO much more than my job. I am going to keep pushing on with my passions....hopefully everything works out!
i want to thank you for sharing your journey! i quit my corporate job a month ago. i don't have as much saved up, but it was killing my soul. it really warms me and allows me to feel less alone knowing that others feel similarly about the corporate work place, and find ways to make it work outside of it, even when they don't have it all fully "figured out." perhaps going through life IS figuring it out, rather than overthinking a plan and watching it all change as we go through it anyway. you're doing great, and you're wonderful!
Your videos are so comforting and wonderful Evelyn. Thank you for being so real and sharing your life in China. So excited to see where life takes you years down the road. Here to cheer you on!
I'm doing my own version of this exact thing a month from now (quitting my tech job without a guaranteed future income to try to build something of my own)! I'm so happy I found this video, it's making me feel validated. So thank you so much!!
It’s so inspiring to see people take the risk to follow their heart. With self doubt, worry, and people always judging, the best thing you can do is bet on yourself. You just gained a subscriber and I hope you continue to grow!
I'm on my 2nd job this year in the US and this is the most love I've poured into my UA-cam channel. Making content has always been on my mind and I'm having a blast recording a podcast and vlogging. It's not easy on top of my job but I'm trying my best to persevere. New subbie!
Program Manager here in tech as well. Encouraged to see you all in on this journey from corporate to content creation. I’ve had a few friends make this transition and hearing their journeys, it’s so brave and courageous. Keep going. Good things take time. 😊
It's been exciting following your journey, Evelyn! I resonated with what you said about 1) The psychological burnout from jobs, 2) A job serving as a fallback, and 3) going "All in" on doing something you love. All of those were factors in why I quit my job last year, too. 😆 Your content is engaging and authentic, and the consistency and effort you've been putting into it will pay off. I'm rooting for you to manifest aligned opportunities and deals that can help you continue creating long-term. ✨ You got this!
Just found your channel. You took a risk and no matter how it turns out, at least you'll have no regrets ! Take your time, don't put too much pressure on the results and just enjoy the journey. I know i'll enjoy watching you grow 😊 I changed careers last year at 31yo, it was stressful af but now a year later i've never been happier. Sure, there's up and down but putting myself first was the best decision. Good luck and enjoy the ride !
Wow, I’m so glad you posted this. I worked full time in advertising and even started my own company doing this. As a creative, running a business did not feel sustainable, and I’m trying to nurture this creative side in me. It’s really comforting to see a fellow former hustler following her creative dreams; this is so timely and encouraging for me. Thank you!
This video inspired me to create a video about the great resignation. It took me about 6 months to create this on top of my full-time job, setting aside at least 4x of 1 hr workout per week, cooking healthy foods that take hours to prepare, rejecting so many night outs just to spend more time pursuing my passion while having so many people discourage me from creating meaningful videos online like this channel. As you can tell, personal development isn’t a joke because there are so many sacrifices to be made, which are often uncomfortable but knowing that there are also so many like-minded individuals who have passion for becoming a better version of themselves each day and who are willing to show support makes me more motivated to keep pursuing my passion for creativity and intense desire to provide as much value as I could. When I was a kid, all I wanted was to have a career that pays well so I can buy whatever I want but now that I’m grown up and went through tons of setbacks from losing tons of people in my life, getting lost in the world with full of life traps, being ridiculed for pursuing my dreams, having so many people tell me that I’m merely wasting my time creating a meaningful content online, and so on, I can say that long-lasting happiness can’t be bought or earned because it comes from within us
Happy that I stumbled upon your video. I am a year younger from you and also planning to quit my corporate job at Amazon with almost the same range of savings as yours. Thank you for making this video.
I also am having to readjust my life. I was a freelancer and recently I've had to slow down to re-evaluate if what I was doing is what I really wanted to be doing. I am also trying to pursue becoming a full time content creator. Thank you for your bravery and I am rooting for you!
“When in doubt, take action. And every action is an oppportunity to improve the situation or to learn something on how to improve the situation later on.“ love this piece or wisdom. just what I need now thank you
Thank you so much for sharing. ❤ I also quit corporate 2 years ago and recently got back into it. It was a RollerCoaster of emotions and so hard on self esteem! Even though things were working out, it was never really "confortable" money wise. Anyway. I will definitly follow your journey! 🤗
im working in a big4 rn and also in middle of quitting it but i also dont know what else i can do or what else i will enjoy doing, this video gave me a hope to just listen to my heart and my body and i feel positive about the future cz i have been feeling really stressed out as this is my first job ever! Thankyou sm
Good luck with your journey! I quit my job and went travelling throughout Mexico. I hit my 2 year mark now and looking to go back to the corporate world via remote. It was an amazing journey but coming towards the end with little to no money was stressful 🤭. I hope we can all achieve our dreams in the crazy world!!
Don’t know why but this video hit. Same age and I‘ve been planning to quit from corporate. Kinda in a dilemma right now but your video makes sense somehow. Keep it going, I hope we all succeed 🙌
This video came at SUCH a good time for me. It's so refreshing to have a vlog from someone in their late 20s first off, and I absolutely love your honesty. I really related to you saying about how tired you were after work, but also that you were privileged to be in the position you are to be able to do something about that. You really recognise what real life is like and you are so down to earth!! I can't wait to see what other videos you do! Hope you're having a great day, and I wish you all the subscribers and success xxxx
loved how articulate you are! i recently quit my corporate job to pursue being a table tennis coach & become the best player i can be while im still physically capable. self doubt is something that we all struggle with, thanks for sharing your thoughts on it- we're all trying to better ourselves at the end of the day :)
I'm so glad I found your video! I cut my work hours down a lot about 6 months ago and now work as a barista part time living a cheap simple lifestyle to prioritise a life full of art making! it's hard but I tell myself every day its going to be worth it! :) my goal is to be a full time artist and UA-camr! so I felt like I could relate to this video and how you're feeling in a way. thank you for sharing! x
I’ve watched UA-cam for years and have always wanted to be a UA-camr. I’ve been watching get started videos for months but this is by far the most motivating channel I’ve seen to start. Thank you
thank you so much for sharing, I'm so glad to have found your channel! I relate with everything you're sharing and am also going through pretty much the exact same thought processes right now while working in corporate. The burnout, debilitating self-doubt, and hopelessness is real -- but I truly believe that working towards something meaningful rather than being a cog in the wheel will lead to a more fulfilling life!
Evelyn! Haven't seen one of your videos in a while so I was happy to see this pop up in my feed. I'm also ~6 months into my adult gap year (quitting corporate) and found this video to be so relatable. It's truly a humbling experience to be a little bit off of the mainstream and have to figure out how to navigate it all. The question I get asked most by my friends is what I do all day which definitely also can and has led to self doubt. But I've found that so far one of the most interesting parts of this experience is developing the confidence in myself as a person and not just being defined by my job or work. Cheering you on, girl~
Thank you so much for your positive vibes! As a side small bussiness owner with a 9-5 job; self doubt always crept in but i love your moto to take action instead of thinking of the worst case scenario! (sid note: i love how beautiful the matcha container is!)
I like selfcare day content. It inspires me to do it too (after only working for the whole week) and it is relaxing to watch. I think that's the point of that kind of content.
Living in New Zealand 🇳🇿 you have the ability to be employable. Your future employer will be blessed. Why.? You are unique especially with this view. You have followed your instinct, before the plunge. Healthy attitude, healthy mind. Good on you 😊
I just found you and WOW. I am here for the long haul - you are so real, raw, and your editing style is on FLEEK. I just did the same move from corporate to full time content creator a month ago!!!! ITS A CRAZY DIFFERENCE!
this video really found me! i've been thinking of quitting to pursue creative endeavours for forever but the stress of saving and COL increasing keeps pushing that back, everything you've said in this really helped me get a better outlook on what comes after though so thank you for this!! im even more motivated
Yes! 14:21 Glad you're doing something about it!!! You took the preparations, have goals, made plans, and took action. You didn't wait for that perfect timing that doesn't come. (which is what we usually make the mistake of waiting for, and is often likely an excuse to not take action) Good for you, and best of luck!!! Do it long enough with consistency and purpose while improving, and success will be your only option!
Hi Evelyn, Congratulations on your decision to quit your job and move on to another chapter in your life! It’s great to spend time for self reflection and self care! Enjoy your leisure time! Good luck on 1 million UA-cam subs! I’m sure you’re do just fine! Don’t worry! Gary
Evelyn, I just discovered your channel and I love it! You are a huge (and realistic) inspiration to all of us who don't love corporate jobs and are looking for some place in this crazy world. Hope your dream to become a contect creator will come true and you can make a living by doing what you like! Thank you for sharing your life with us :)
i love ur videos and the calmness of them and u have helped me not be too stressed abt my own situation (19 and not attending college/ not working) just basically trying to figure myself out and i feel as if im lacking behind all my other friends that are in college and pursuing internships, clubs, etc. thankfully i have supportive family that isnt rushing me into finding a job or going back to college (a privilege not everyone is able to have) and u have helped me realize how its okay to not have stuff figured out :)
Ohh you give me so much hope. The way you said that nothing else you did was enjoyable to you resonates so much. I am not sure yet what it is for me that I enjoy working wise but now I have hope that at least one thing should exists even if I cannot see it today ☺ Thank you so much and congrats on growing your channel 🥰
I’m so glad your channel got recommended to me 🥹 hearing you speak really resonates with the aspiring writer in me. Rooting for your success here on UA-cam!
I’ve thought about this recently too. Having a fallback means it takes me about 12 times longer to make content that I want to make. 1 productive Monday spend on doing my own thing vs cramming it all into 3 different Sundays just doesn’t feel right to me. Glad you made this decision for yourself and happy to see you’ve grow a lot already in these 2 weeks since. I love the realness of it all also. Saying how much revenue you get and only doing brands that make sense for you is great! I wish you all the best 💪🏻
Big round of applause for your achievement, and you look absolutely stunning, I have to write comments since I share similar experience. Not many people have the luxury of quitting the job to find purpose in life at your age, please don't stress out and I believe keeping an healthy daily routine goes a long way in achieving the goals. I share the "When in doubt, take actions mindset" but also think about what matters to me most and reflect back on those actions. It's hard to navigate towards the goals because every little things will diverge your minds away, and our time is limited. Also when you are at a later stage after a series of actions you will see the world differently and have new goals. Figure out which ones matter to you the most and just focus on those while maintaining your healthy lifestyle, you will have success waiting in line! Good luck!
"i'm 29 and worried about retirement" i'm 33 and am living paycheck to paycheck as a teacher rent an apartment. This gives perspective on everyone is at a different place in their life.
I started youtube thinking YESS let's make productivity vlogs, since I'm a corporate girl and then while editing all the videos I realized how I just do the same thing over and over and how much I really do not enjoy sitting in front of my computer, dealing with unreal demands. I am slowly shifting to having more time with friends, going places when I can while still in corporate, but ultimate goal is to not be here anymore in 2 years. I'm glad I found you. Thank you for sharing this journey with us. ❤❤
It’s really a desperate feeling when I found out most things I did in corporate were to generate profit for people who really don’t need more money…cheers to getting out (in 2 years)!
Thank you for sharing your journey. I am 27, working as a consultant in tech and I can relate to everything you said!! I wish you good luck with everything !!
Thank you so much for sharing! I just came across your video and it brought so much comfort! I am also 29 and I recently quit my corporate job because of a burn out. I have always loved filming and editing videos, and I wanted to continue doing this full time but I have a lot of insecurities in terms of my future and I was pondering between risking making content full time or going back to corporate. Watching your video made me feel like I was not the only one going through this! You just got a new subscriber and a new fan! Rooting for you! 🥰
Hey Evelyn, I found your channel recently and watched a few of your videos, love your authenticity, the way you speak and your love of books 😊 you seem like a lovely person and I hope your channel continues to grow!
Thanks for much for making this! I stumbled across your channel and you’ve given me a lot of motivation to also quit corporate and pursue other passions - so thank you! ❤
Loved the vlog ! I quit my job in May, it was one of the scariest things I have ever done. I felt both certain and uncertain of my decision; but I was burnt out and had severe anxiety and I knew I deserved a break. The last couple of months have been relaxing and healing, I realized I was not spending enough time on myself. I was living a very slow and relaxed life for the most part these last couple of months. I'm also very fortunate and privileged to have been able to take this tie off. I know my parents would have never been able to, so I am thankful for each day. I'm just now feeling ready to return to the workforce rejuvenated and ready. I am happy to know that my decision was not crazy and that others are also have taken this step. Very happy for you and wishing you the best on this journey!!! :)
Hey! I just found your channel, I’m from Mexico and I think your content is pretty refreshing. I wish you the best with this content creator journey, you can do it. 💕
My husband and i quit our jobs earlier this year and moved to another country to live a stressfree life. We love not being tied down to a schedule or having anyone tell us what to do or how to live our lives. We planned it during the covid lockdowns in our home country and so it took 3 years to save enough money to not have to work. We do have hobbies that bring in enough money to live in our new country so as not to touch our savings but if we choose to not do those it doesn't matter. Yes, i know we are privileged and no we don't take it for granted! We are not of retirement age so planning was definitely key!
I just happened to stumble across this video on my feed and its as if UA-cam knows that I'm also unemployed lol. But I just wanted to say that I relate to that last part so hard. I didn't quit but I got laid off and it's the best thing that's happened to me because of how unhappy and unmotivated I was at my previous job as a UX researcher. Now I'm in this stage where I feel like I could do anything I want with my life but don't know here to start. But after watching this and reading the comments, I'm glad I'm not in the same boat. WE GOT THIS
Happened to get pushed this video after making one about how I (Em) feel 2 years after quitting my job, and I have to say it's really great hearing how you feel about your decision 6 months out and how you're handling everything (it actually makes me wish I had documented more of how I felt!). So many things you said resonated with both Lloyd and me, but in particular I loved that you talked about the importance of having a supportive network of people around you - the past 2 years have made me appreciate my close friends and family immensely. Also love what you said about taking action when in doubt - I think that's huge! Wishing you all the best Evelyn! 😊
Thank you so much Em! I just watched your most recent day in the life vlog - so happy that you took action too and are enjoying your new gig! I found your channel when you first posted about quitting law, and have been really enjoying your content! Wish you all the very best too🥰
I’m a newly ‘retired’ mom lol. I watch my kiddo at home so no work for now and I’m considering not ever going back to the workforce. I like simple life and if I can travel yearly, I am all set. ❤
LOVED this video! Just subscribed and rooting for you! 🤩As a fellow corporate quitter and content creator, everything you said is so spot on. Inspired me to keep telling my story! Congrats on quitting and following your passions, you're going to do great things. 💛
Hey Evelyn! The video was recommended on my UA-cam page and I am so glad I clicked it! I am at my late 30’s and always been working - I’ve always imagine to take a year or two off but am too coward to do it. Your channel is an escape for me to take a peak of the what ifs. I’m originally from Taiwan ( working in the states) saw 5:35 the stairs I couldn’t help but laugh. We had that randomness in taiwan too 😂
I’m currently struggling at my work and im thinking of doing youtube like you. I have setup another channel and uploaded some videos in the past but now after watching this video, i feel at ease knowing someone out there is going through the same thing. Keep the videos coming Evelyn!!!
I tried explaining to my boyfriend and family that even though I am sitting all day on a computer, after work I am debilitated mentally and physically. they would say just go outside, cook some food, or play games. when I come home just the thought of having to do it all over again and again makes me incapable of thinking and doing anything else. cooporate burnout is real and we are in a paycheck to paycheck chokehold because not working is looked down upon. thank u
I quit my corporate engineering job to pursue content creation and freelancing 2 years ago and this video sums up my experience so well😭 you’re doing amazing!!! Just subscribed and so excited to continue following your journey🥰
I really appreciate this honesty in this video a lot of people who work in tech or engineering seem to be quitting from burnout or just because the corporate grind is too much. When I was laid off for a few months it really hit me that I wanted a shift. I’m tired of working for someone and on their time and exploiting my skills for a paycheck that won’t ever be enough. Part of me has regrets about going to school for design and doing what I’m doing now, but based on this and the comments it doesn’t matter the field, it’s just companies run us dry. I’m still at my job, it’s not horrible and during down time I work on my own personal projects, but I lose a sense of myself here every week and I’ve been here for years now. I’m 30 and wake up thinking is this all there is? I really love making things and art. I’m hoping to one day be like you and be on my own, but have my art support me through my online shop, UA-cam, patreon, etc. I just need to make a channel first. It’s been slow because it’s hard to do this while working full time and I also have doubts too. I look at others with homes and bigger salaries, but if anything they’re just as burned out and miserable. There’s a podcast I listen to (Erika taught me) and she talks about quitting her lawyer job because of the insane hours. Our mental and physical health isn’t worth sacrificing for someone else even if it grants us a prestigious life. I wish I had the funds to quit and I’d want my partner to quit too. But that’s not in the cards for us right now. Neither of us make enough and the money we’ve had goes to paying off school loans and car and bills. I know you’re scared with the limited ad sense, UA-cam pays creators trash and now force ads on channels that aren’t even monetized… but there’s nothing wrong with getting a sponsorship even the smaller ones can get you thousands. I think we all get it.
Good luck in the future! You are a very humble girl, I’m sure in the future you will be very successful. I am very interested in your lifestyle. Please keep your life updated as always!
im so glad youtube recommended this video to me! i admire your courage and how you're seeing things through :> i hope better things line up for you and you thrive endlessly. this was so soothing to watch!
Well, this is the first time I've seen you and oh how I wish I'd been as smart and sensible as you at your age. So, refreshing to see such a focused and happy person. Congratulations. You've earned it. I'll be watching. Subscribed & Liked. :)
Thank you for sharing your honest perspectives on corporate / becoming a full time UA-camr. Am in the same boat (coincidentally also a project manager in tech haha) so everything you said was super validating ❤
You are amazing .so courageous and inspiring.thank you for a wonderful video and sending positivity and love from London I am leaving my job in a month and have been feeling scared and anxious.but I know it will be ok .will be thinking about you when I am feeling low
Not having a job is stressful at times but, whoever is going through it,you’ll get through it❤

HaHa are you taking the piss?
It's only stressful if u have no money but some type of income jobless isn't stressful it's peaceful
@@abbz23😊❤️🎯👍🏽👏🏾👏🏾
I feel like this about people with jobs lol do you actually like working?
A big round of applause for your courage! I’m 64 with 3 late 20s daughters. I’ve worked in corporate my entire working life; we didn’t have a lot of options when I was in my 20s. I’ve encouraged my daughters to switch careers when and if they are not enjoying them; life is a series of zigs and zags. Do it when you’re young. As a famous hockey player once said: “you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”.
I think this is what sucks about today. We push youngsters to find a career really young and they just end up being cornered.
nowadays it is too risky. Cost of living rising and not as much opportunities due to poor economic state
You sound like my dad so i take this as a sign to give what i want a shot😁 good luck for your daughters!!
@@gabriellarosinta7826 Hurrah! Best of luck to you!
good luck to you and your daughters!
Take care!
This is so important!!
I am a new lawyer too just quit my job to go for solo for a month let’s see how it goes thanks both of you are encouraging
It‘s more than doubled now! 18.600 right now 🎉
A day after it's 20,400+. This is my first time seeing her video. I felt less lonely or alone having watched this. She's doing an awesome thing being herself. Congrats
21.4 k today - I hope it keeps growing !
23.5k now 😊
Its already tripled now!
I quit my non profit job a week ago!! This video was encouraging
Congrats on a new chapter. You can do it!
because life waits for no one ! :)
Same I wonder why I’m so drained on Friday and this is why
I keep tap myself and say i love my job while i tired and no passion on the job already even it pay me high 😢. Im not see im happy now.
We’ll never know until we try! You got this!
You've got this! Trying to plan and get the courage to do this myself as an artist, sometimes you just have to go for it :)
It was something that was so difficult to explain to others around me because they would just ask 'but why... you work more than us, sure, but you have the rest of your day after that?'
I quit, changed jobs and ended up in a even worse burnout elsewhere and am now doing the unemployment dance and contemplating content creation.
So super humble, and so thankful to have ran across your video this afternoon 🫶🏽
aww thank you so much😭 I definitely don't deserve the kind words you said here but will try my best to live up to them...have a lovely day!
You got this ❤
🥺that means so much..thank you!
As a fellow vlogger, I love how you are transparent and how you make decision. The struggle is there but you are brave enough to face it. Keep it up!
🫶your vlogs are amazing! Hope you keep it up too:)
@@tapiocapress Thank you! I also subscribed to your channel! I'm planning to go to china this year. Will check any of your recommendation :D

Your videos are so comforting and wonderful Evelyn. Thank you for being so real and sharing your life in China. So excited to see where life takes you years down the road. Here to cheer you on!
thank you for being here and cheering me on Gloria💕this means the world…
I'm doing my own version of this exact thing a month from now (quitting my tech job without a guaranteed future income to try to build something of my own)!
Thank you!! *mAniFestiNg* by writing down a list of dream brands now…all the best on your journey too. Thanks for being here💕
Just found your channel. You took a risk and no matter how it turns out, at least you'll have no regrets ! Take your time, don't put too much pressure on the results and just enjoy the journey. I know i'll enjoy watching you grow 😊
I changed careers last year at 31yo, it was stressful af but now a year later i've never been happier. Sure, there's up and down but putting myself first was the best decision.
Good luck and enjoy the ride !
I'm 41, a mom and I'm just counting the days, I have the entire September to turnover all my tasks. Its a roller-coaster of emotions.
Thankyou sm
This is exactly what I'm going through. Wanting to quit my corporate job so badly but at the same time the doubts and fears don't let me.
Thank you
Love your self care tips on Self Doubt. Very self aware! When I’m doubt, take action! You’ll be surprised where you end up :)
thank you so much for sharing, I'm so glad to have found your channel!
Cheering you on, girl~
nothing is "dumb luck" Sister. There are NO coinsidences. KEEP GOING! Ur doing SO amazing!!! Sending 💖
Healthy
attitude, healthy mind.
Watching you is refreshing, you don’t just post the good times. Thanks for being so honest.
Hi Evelyn,
Congratulations on your decision to quit your job and move on to another chapter in your life! It’s great to spend time for self reflection and self care! Enjoy your leisure time! Good luck on 1 million UA-cam subs!
I’m sure you’re do just fine! Don’t worry!

One thing I notice from you here is you really have strong character, good luck for you in every part of your life! Cheers from Jakarta!
Thank you for sharing your journey. I am 27, working as a consultant in tech and I can relate to everything you said!!
I wish you good luck with everything !!
omg thank you for being here since the begining😭 even after all these years my favorite corporate job is still consulting. All the best to you too🫶
Thank you so much for sharing!
You’re at 20K now! I’m so happy to have found your channel. You’ll be at 100K by the end of the year. I believe in you.❤
Hey Evelyn, I found your channel recently and watched a few of your videos, love your authenticity, the way you speak and your love of books 😊 you seem like a lovely person and I hope your channel continues to grow!
Thanks for much for making this! I stumbled across your channel and you’ve given me a lot of motivation to also quit corporate and pursue other passions - so thank you! ❤
I admire the risk you took & documenting your journey! Wish you all the best!
Thank you for being honest and transparent! I believe you will get there one day by doing what you love!
Thank you for sharing your journey
I just happened to stumble across this video on my feed and its as if UA-cam knows that I'm also unemployed lol. But I just wanted to say that I relate to that last part so hard. I didn't quit but I got laid off and it's the best thing that's happened to me because of how unhappy and unmotivated I was at my previous job as a UX researcher. Now I'm in this stage where I feel like I could do anything I want with my life but don't know here to start. But after watching this and reading the comments, I'm glad I'm not in the same boat. WE GOT THIS
That hit me deep in the soul -- "you don't have time to be doubting yourself"
Wish you all the very best too🥰
This was so relatable, especially the bit about working a despairing job + burnout. Good luck with your channel! You got this!!
Thank you🫶
I’m a newly ‘retired’ mom lol. I watch my kiddo at home so no work for now and I’m considering not ever going back to the workforce. I like simple life and if I can travel yearly, I am all set. ❤
I'll be quitting my corporate job in about a month and it feel very comforting watching this video, I'm happy UA-cam suggested it :)
Wauuu finally the first youtuber that says amount...you are so sincere..thank you!
This is your first video that's being recommended to me, so I think whatever you're doing is working :)
Thank you for sharing your story ✨ Gives hope to a lot of us
LOVED this video!
We had that randomness in taiwan too 😂
rooting for you!!! your courage to chase your dreams is really admirable and your channel will defo get more traction soon enough!
🫶🫶thank you for always rooting for me😭
I’m currently struggling at my work and im thinking of doing youtube like you.
Please keep your life updated as always!
i also quit my job now, so i feel like kind of released but streesed a little bit :( after watching this video, i got more relaxing! thx
