- www.timothyseaman.com/ The old Appalachian folk hymn from the shape-note tradition is played instrumentally in a simple way, with expression from the moment, at the lake built by Timothy's father in 1953, when he was an infant! (E.A. Seaman was Chief of Fisheries for West Virginia at the time, and this high mountain lake (3,840') was among his achievements of which he was most proud.) The monumental anonymous lyrics of this hexatonic tune:
What wondrous love is this
That caused the Lord of bliss
To bear the dreadful curse
For my soul!
When I was sinking down
Beneath God's righteous frown,
Christ laid aside his crown
For my soul!
To God and to the lamb,
Who is the great I AM,
While millions join the theme,
I will sing!
And when from death I'm free
I'll sing and joyful be,
And through eternity
I'll sing on!
