I've been doing that for years. Sometimes I just use the oven when I'm being lazy. I give it an extra minute under the broiler at the end. I like a lil extra texture
That looks so good! I love French toast. I always dry my bread out in the refrigerator over night. I made myself a little rack so I can stand the bread up on its end.
You only need the oven if you soak the bread for a long time and are using thick bread. Using regular bread just dip it quickly and skip the oven. I prefer to add cinnamon once they are on the griddle, otherwise the first few slices pick up all the cinnamon and there’s none left at the end. If you add it after they’re on the griddle it’ll brown up nicely and give it a nice texture too.
Je suis française, généralement on fait avec le reste de pain on achète pas de brioche justement c’est pour pas faire gâcher la nourriture on réutilise qu’on n’a pas manger et en mets pas autant de beurre que dans la poêle seulement les faire cuire 😊
You can use any thick-sliced bread. Sweet bread like Challah or Brioche are favorites, but a plain Texas toast also works great. I provided a list of bread option in my blog notes.
I love French Toast! I use sourdough bread and cut them into sticks. I use 3 eggs, heavy whipping cream, sugar, cinammon, and brown sugar, then I dip the toast sticks into the bowl. Then, I grill them with butter, plate them, then top it off with honey.
I definitely have to try this! I'm picky with french toast. Sometimes it's left tasting too much like egg or its really soggy and the texture is just a no for me. This method seems like it'd really be the perfect French toast!
@@Natashaskitchen I'll have to let you know after I make some up. I think your the best Natasha and you always brighten my day and make me smile. Love your videos!!!❤️
Make sure you custard mixture is mixed well. The pan you are using matters and watch the level of the flame or induction stove top. If it’s too high, it will burn.
Make sure you rub your nose with your cooking hand. And wave your hair over the food to make sure those microbes fall off and give your flavors to the food.

If you want to be adventurous add some bourbon to the custard. You can also mix fresh bourbon into maple syrup for "adults only" french toast.
Thanks for sharing!

Egg usually gets fried on my bread every time I attempt to make French toast. How do I keep this from happening?
Make sure you custard mixture is mixed well.
The pan you are using matters and watch the level of the flame or induction stove top. If it’s too high, it will burn.
I can't wait to meet next week in Nj
