    Everyone complaining about the color, big deal, it's still a Lexion. I like that they are no longer scared of their own color on their combine in NA. The White and Green will grow on people over time. I'm also glad they are bringing over more tractors, hope they have the terra trac option for the 900 series Axions.

    In 1988 I went to a Class service school in Columbus Indiana, theme was Combines with new electronic monitoring, diagnostic, repairs and Balers both round and square. There sitting in the facility was a prototype Claas CS116 multi cylinder system and on Caterpillar challenger tracks. The instructor gave us the quick rundown on this unit, V12 Mercedes, Dual Computer controlled hydro-stat systems and yield monitoring. The side doors at the back of the tracks were quite distorted and he was asked about it, we got to watch a vhs video of this thing in action, 7 MPH with a 12 row snapper head in corn. Someone forgot corn ground is not always level, when turning the tracks pick up trash, oops their goes the side doors, not enough clearance. Being a small town Ag Mechanic from Canada this was like looking at the space shuttle. By the way we sold Green Claas's through the 80's and into the 90's but also being a Ford/New Holland dealership. Had to pick the latter. I liked both manufacturers, each had their own personalities.

      Apparently they'll still have the Perkapillar (Perkins/Cat) on some models in Australia - we don't get the 8900 either. I gather it's because emissions requirements aren't quite as stringent so can get away with the Tier 2/Tier 3 engines on some models.

      Since CLAAS is a German company it provided them a way to get their equipment into the American market then they could start selling them as CLASSes once they have a foothold. And the foothold is necessary, especially since Americans are partial to American companies like John Deere and Case.

    • @bigtractorpower
      @bigtractorpower  3 роки тому

      It is not that they are refusing too there is not a need for the extra horse power outside of Europe. Europe has larger wheat yields and damper harvest conditions than any where else. The 8900’s extra horse power is required in Europe. The 8900 is over powered to harvest corn in the United States for example. Even with an 18 row 30 inch corn head the 8800 is plenty of combine for corn.

      I am not sure. I would 2.5 to 4 mph. That seems common in wheat.

    Personally I like the yellow better. Just never cared for the lame green/white scheme. BTW, I always load over the drive axles first. Never know if there will be a problem and the truck will have to leave partly loaded.
